Simon Pitt speaks to Ali about his career, filming around the world, smelly pants, racism and everything in between. This funny and insightful podcast shines a light on a few things you may not have known about Mr Hamidi. A brilliant listen and funny from start to finish.
Ali has been an angler from an early age, and progressed into carp fishing during his early teens, fishing on some of Essex’s most popular venues. He is now one of the most influential anglers in the UK and is recognised worldwide due to the success of his social media platforms and TV work.
While studying at University for a media degree, he was given the opportunity to work at Sky TV for his work experience. This would later lead to the successful “Thinking Tackle” series and subsequent mainstream fishing TV shows, including Monster Carp, The Big Fish Off and Fishing All Stars.
Along with his TV work, he has written two successful fishing books (Ali Hamidi Carp Fishing Masterclass / The Carpers High) and has been a regular contributor to various fishing publications spanning over twenty years.
Furthermore, away from his media fishing work, he has fished some notable UK Carp venues that include Reedsmere and The Essex Manor. He is also known for his charity work and love of dogs, often being joined by his dog ‘Ronnie’ in his personal fishing.

I met Ali once on a night out in Colchester, absolute gent, had a natter about fishing, he’s a great ambassador for korda and the sport.
I’ve not even finished watching this one yet, but have watched or listened to everyone to date. Been looking forward to Ali and he’s not disappointed very interesting guy and funny. I think the fact that these podcasts are so good are down to Simon, well done Korda and simon.

Best one yet, Met him at Carpin On show a few years ago he was fantastic and took time out to talk to my daughter who was 2 at the time she dropped her drink and he picked it up gave it back to her and just started talking to her. Absolute gent I could listen to him all day

Ali is a top bloke. I met him way before fame on a bank while fishing with Chilli. A very nice guy and very intelligent to boot. And since then he’s flown. Oh and his wife is beautiful and a great character. One of life’s gems is Al.

Constructive criticism here for Simon, I love these podcasts and they get me through work every other Monday when they're released. But 1 thing keeps happening on every podcast and it's getting on my nerves now. Simon needs to stop jumping in and talking over the guest when they're trying to get their point across or trying to answer his question. A few times here Ali was going to go into depth or expand on a question further and Simon would talk straight over him and bully him off the mic. If he would just wait for the person to finish their sentence it would be much better. Love the podcasts, keep them coming!

tom maker was on linear last year and when i asked him what he was fishing on he said whatever i want n gave me the cold shoulder proper nobhead i then met ali once and it was the total other end of the spectrum couldnt of been nicer

Its embarrassing for our nation that the CB Ali mentions kicking him after scoring and called him a Paki, this just shows the ignorance of the CB and the class of Ali dismissing him as exactly what he is,. Fair play lad keep winning, keep being successful and keep producing great material for us as consumers to 😉
Love the podcasts and all the Korda videos however, Simon unfortunately still doesn’t seem like a natural interviewer. Doesn’t really ask a question, he begins to, doesn’t really know what his asking and hopes the guest jumps in to answer what they think his asking. In this you can see Ali ask a couple times what he means and question his question. Other than that, still great content!
