mostly a marketing thing. when the M4 came out there was no M4 Competition, until a bunch of people bought the M4. I think it was just a couple of months and people were pissed. They say what they say now to not make the same mistake twice. Next year I can pretty much bank on an M2 CS.

Of course they will say that.. So then people will buy the cars now, and then have to upgrade later.. If they said there is a competition coming, everyone would just wait.
I´d rather prefer to see a "lightweight", 2 seater CSL version about 1400 KG, with improved aerodinamics, upgraded suspension... Maybe with @480 hp. I think that at it´s current price the M2 is cannibalizing the M4 sales. Don´t think BMW wants to keep with that for long
I think a stronger M2 would eat massive of the M3/M4 Sales. Like Porsche with the 911 and 718.

I'm mixed on the design language of the M2, but I'm sure it will be a rocket.
The competition badge was not always present but as a hint for what is coming, look at the XM. The XM will not have a competition version but a "Red Label" with a 100BHP boost so maybe the m2 will get a Red Label as well.
At least this time wont be a big engine upgrade like the OG m2 N55 to M2 Comp S55. So I wouldnt mind regular M2
Why would you rush on the M2 when you know for sure the M2C is coming ? That’s is why they made such a vague announcement

I plan to save up money and sell my stock 2016 Genesis Coupe 3.8 and buy a 2020-2021 M24oi x-Drive.
There's still a M2 Competition on the way (for now). From a leaker that knows all the future models
Frankly I don't care if there's no M2 comp. Because if they're going to offer one only as an automatic like the G80/82 M3/M4 comp there's no point. Even though BMW manuals are rubbery feeling as hell, I would still choose it over the torque converter auto in a car like this. Heck my daily 19' Golf Wagon manual feels better than my previous E90 M3 manual.
German is a hard language..i interpreate Mr Schröder that a M2c is not jet in planing but it will come maybe in the facelift oder in die second lifetime maybe 27/28.. we will see
Do they really need the M2 Comp Pack? They didn't, but I understood the extra performance and performance enhancements.
Even if the Comp Pack is done, that doesn't mean the M2 CS is done. If there is going to be an M2 CS, it should leave a nice healthy price tag where a new M2 Comp Pack would have been for this new G87 Gen M2.
To be honest, if BMW M was smart, they'd take all of the performance enhancements from previous gen M2 Comp Packs and put it within the new M2 and instead of a M2 Comp Pack model, they can turn it into its own mode and call it Competition Mode where it will crank up the horsepower by 20-30hp and the torque by 15-20lb-ft just in that mode alone and call it a day. It would save money on BMW M Division's end.

Possible. They didn't rule it out entirely, but I can't imagine they will let the M2 cut into M3/M4 sales.
@@revmatchtv Same thing happened with fhe F87. They didnt release the Comp until after a few years. I think Comp will be 2026 or 2027.
