As always, great review. You are so right when talking about putting more "modern" pickups in their guitars. I'm so sick of Jackson putting in duncan distortion pickups.
After I posted the video, I checked out when the Duncan Distortion came out. 1980! I mean, it's a great sounding pickup, and I have nothing against it, but how about something that isn't over 40 years old?
@@mikefrombloodofthewolf7076 Yeah, I wonder why they don't pay attention to the small things. Good thing you gave it a detailed review. I'm certain they can improve on those things in the future and get a really nice guitar out there.
Thanks for the review been eyeing up this model.. even tho it's not a super high end model it's better that my other's.. debating on the black or firestorm, the Firestorms not as metal but dam it's pretty nice with the unpainted back...
I have this one in my hands. No QC issues on it whatsoever. Neck is great, finish is flawless - no scraches, no dings. Those corners are sharp though, and must be shipped properly. A softcase would be better. And, I do agree on sending it back. I'd have taken a replacement though!
If I didn't already have two Rhoads' models that I like a lot, I would have ordered a replacement. Maybe. I'm really not into playing the buy/return game. I find that annoying.
good on you for sending it back. the problem is that a lot of people like myself would have probably kept it allowing companies like Jackson or others to get away with shipping out questionable guitars. i think a lot of people have a level of excitement when receiving the new guitar and overlook things they probably shouldn't. i think companies factor this into there QC. selectively choosing and shipping lower then average guitar hoping they wont be returned. if everyone just kept returning guitars for good ones, the companies would eventually be forced to get better but the prices would change too i afraid. thanks for sharing your review.
I have that exact fretboard blemish on the same spot on my sub $200 Js11 with Amaranth fretboard. I wouldn't think I would see it on a $1500 axe, yet I'm not really surprised
The aesthetic is so cool. Flat top is total metal, and direct mount looks great. For the price tho, it has to be e better QC. I dig my KVX with flat top, upgrades and all for less $$ than this MIC.
I have the same guitar and mine was flawless. However, I had mine shipped in a Jackson flight case and it showed up without any scratches or blemishes. The fretboard was great and free of any issues. I’ve always wanted a gloss black RR24, bound, with a reverse headstock. With that said, maybe im biased, but my RR didn’t have a single QC issue and exceeded my expectations. I have 7 other Jackson guitars, including two USA models and this RR was on par with my USAs. Sometimes I think it’s luck of the draw (which sucks). I don’t mind the Duncan Distortions, but options would be nice. I know the new 2025 DKR MJ models (which were leaked to the public) have two pickup options: JB/Jazz combo, or Fishman Fluence Moderns. I wish Jackson offered this in more of their instruments.
I'm glad you got a good one! It's a beautiful guitar! I completely agree with you regarding your comment about "luck of the draw". Very true. I have a couple X Series models that are flawless, as well as ONE JS Series that is also flawless. I have a few MIJ Jacksons from the 90's and those are consistently well-made. I don't own any USA models, but I have bought a Pro Series, Concept Series and this Pro Plus, all with QC issues. Unfortunately.
I love the Jackson MIJ models. My experience has been fantastic with the DKR I own. Plus I love the reverse headstock on the Dinkys. Great review as always.
I had a pro soloist made in Indonesia back in 2018 and I was not particularly thrilled with the construction quality. Many blems and flaws and the neck felt cheap. These pro series look hella good from a far, though 😄😒
@@JD-vj4go That's not true. Why Korea-Japan and American series are almost the same price? You can buy the same quality (even better) with Esp LTD 1000 series and they are much better flawless guitars. It's just Fender and Jackson they're more and more greedy

Yeah...now, in all fairness, I had a Spalted Maple Soloist that was made in China and it was an excellent guitar. I feel like these days, its' all hit or miss.
I love this guitar, flat body. Unfortunately Jackson sold out to Fender, should have never happened.. $1500 plus for this Chinese garbage., Jackson's are now cheap garbage and lost it's value same goes for Charvel, selling my USA Charvel and regret buying it. Truthfully those flaws are disappointing but I've seen far worse coming from Kramer, Epiphone, and EVH these days. Something I noticed with Jacksons in general is that when you go from the js, to the X, to the pro series, you don't really get better build quality, just better specs.
