A nice thing about this video is that it kind of shows how you *should* use AI images like this: as inspiration. The frequency that AI generated images of *anything* are being passed off as real now is so scary and so annoying. So many people are too uninformed or unobservant or just lazy to notice when something is very obviously AI generated. All that being said, I think your house based on the AI image is awesome. Really impressed with how closely you matched the vibe of the “original” while still making it your own thing.
I am getting so tired of ai images, it's fine for maybe reference or inspiration, but I have seen multiple cases now of attempted art theft with it, and overall it's just becoming extremely annoying to see malformed frankenstein images every time I'm trying to find some inspiration or ideas for art

As a builder, the AI is rampant even on Google. I became so frustrated a few times trying to unknowingly recreate an AI reference. At least, doing it like that forced me to look closer and learn what to look for when searching for reference, but still just an awful experience all around. It was kind of cathartic to watch another person recreate AI images within the bounds of Minecraft and point out all the stupid/broken/impossible parts of it, and then taking artistic liberties. I'm now actually interested to watch more videos of people recreating AI images, but I also understand the brain rotting, frustrating nature of undertaking such a task 😂
I think a lot of the people in the Pinterest comments for Minecraft are children. Or at least that’s my experience. Many of them seem very young so I’m glad you are making this educational video
A problem with even just generating AI images for inspiration is that AI generation costs a lot of power, and it is actively harming the environment. There is no good use of generative AI like this, because it is not only replacing real human people in the workfield, it is actively hurting the world we live in too.
This is inaccurate. Training AI models is power and time intensive, but once they are trained, inference is no more power hungry than running any high-end video game, and you spend a lot less time running AI models compared to playing a game.

i grabbed a couple references like last month for a build i had planned and didn't even notice one of the references was ai generated until i started really looking at the image 😥
AI images tend to be pretty easy too parse if you know what you're looking for, and *incredibly* easy to spot if you use critical thinking about the context of an image. It's a shame that so many people just barely go surface-deep when looking at things. Your build turned out great, definitely did justice to the idea. I'm always wary of endorsing AI inspiration only because in collaborative efforts it results in the worst people insisting that you use the machine's output as an exact blueprint even when its impossible (like you ran into with the roof), but I'm happy to see someone turn garbage into gold.
Even using A.I as reference is unethical bc the machine is stealing directly from artists. The more you use a.i the smarter and better the technology gets, the best thing to do is to completely ignore this technology all together. Do not give it attention, do not create prompts even as reference, just do NOT engage with it at all. As an artist trying to become a professional illustrator I’ve genuinely considered a career change bc how much A.I is running rampant and how much it seems that people don’t care about the affects a.i has on artists and the environment.
@ for the reasons that I stated in my comment. If you’re using an A.I image as a reference, even if it’s low quality, you are still actively engaging with A.I. images. Everything you do on the internet is tracked nowadays, so the more you engage the more the algorithm of whatever site you’re on will show you A.I content. It tells the system that you like engaging with this content. However, in order to generate A.I the way it works it’s that it searches through the internet, directly steals artists work, who most of the time did not consent for their art to train a bot, and then it will essentially plagiarize an artist. The more you use a.i to generate images or engage with it the better it will get. If you are not an artist it might be hard to understand but I personally don’t ever want an a.i to be able to copy my style of art. It is theft plain and simple! Not only that, but a.i is harming the environment. In order to power A.I it requires mass amounts of water to power it. So, if you generate an image think about how you’re stealing from artists and actively hurting the environment as you do it and then we’ll see if your shitty generated picture of an anime girl is worth it. It’s different from using actual screenshots bc it’s real if that makes sense. For example, if I look up a picture of an animal I’ll see a ton of a.i generated images. But, basically all of them are inaccurate. Just like the image shown in this video is inaccurate to the actual game. I’d rather look at something that an actual human made, a piece of art, an actual photograph, even a house in Minecraft, then look at something a computer put together and it turns out like shit and is also not accurate. Wouldn’t you want to engage with content that humans have made rather than a soulless computer? Also, why on earth would you generate a picture of a house in Minecraft when you can just look up a tutorial or build it yourself. It’s incredibly tone deaf.
@fawnleif So, using a reference without permission is bad when an AI is stealing content (Which yes is obviously bad) but using a reference without permission is fine if it's not AI? You're still using a reference without asking (Which is fine, that's the entire point of a reference) but the logic doesn't quite add up. If the problem is permission, you lack it in both scenarios 9 times out of 10.
@@Lakita2880 Let me put it another way. It's better to use references from an actual person's art because that artist has actual fundamental understanding of the medium, AI does not. While AI may be improving its accuracy, it should not be used as an aid to improving your skill, because it will never fully grasp the medium it's trying to imitate. That's really the issue, IMO, aside from AI generators stealing from artists and harming the environment. Using AI for a reference will form bad habits you'll have to unlearn later, so it's best to just learn from a human from the get-go.
I like text based ai only and really hate ai art. I also don’t like ai making up reddit storys to rage bait. I have a good hate love relationship with ai
idk how nobody spots the AI Lighting(tm). it's always weirdly soft, even for shaders, and always has those aesthetic(tm) glow effects and really 3d-model-showcase-looking lights that make it seem like a miniature set irl, with none of the saturation, pixelation or banding you'd get from in-game shaders
your house turned out beautiful! ai minecraft houses are so unnecessary and look awful, i feel bad for people who take time to make builds being overshadowed by lazy garbage ai
Luckily I do think right now most people hate ai houses. They’re more of an annoyance when looking for inspiration right now than a huge issue. But overtime they’ll get better and start becoming a real problem in my opinion. Glad you liked the house, I appreciate it!
I was using pinterest for ideas for minecraft houses and I decided one day I was actually gonna try and build one and I really just couldnt get it to work structurally in game, even with mods.
Just had to point out The fact you said you can’t do corners on Minecraft with Fences But On bedrock you can but yes other than that you are correct about it being Ai generated
Now with AI Minecraft, I think we’re approaching the point where it will become impossible to tell AI apart from the real thing. 😱 Not only that they’ll look like they’re built in Vanilla, they’d look very real… so scary!😨
Based on the background builds in the early part of the video, you've good skillz, assuming they're yours, but a $3 ask for a MC house is batshit crazy.
AI is also really bad on Pinterest for room decor, room interiors, buildings, etc. like why would I want inspiration for room decor when the whole photo does not have a single actual object in it.
One problem i have, not so much with uour house but rather with the lighting - the noon top-down sun really does a disservice to the look of your build, making it seem very dark. You should change the time a bit so the sun is at an angle. Or you could go the no filter route and ditch the shaders but for some reason i dont think youd do that :p
I think the easiest way to tell of AI Minecraft is AI is to compare the sizes of the blocks. Especially in the 2nd picture, these dimensions don't make any sense, even if the person would have used chisel and bits. I mean look how fucking giant the earthblocks and the tree ond the right are. but this may be a thing which AI will improve on
Ohgod, all the ai mc builds on pintrest… I used to use it to find simple, cute structures to build but now it’s just all ai crud. It’s really sad how tons of references are flooded with AI slop that aren’t even tagged. It wouldn’t be half as irritating if they were transparent about it… I miss when ai images were just goofy crt memes.
Looking for anything on a search engine nowadays necessitates having -ai in the query, because else it'll just be some atrocity of a steam engine someone made for shits and giggles that the site decided to store forever instead of just keep private.
the unfortunate thing about this, is that you're not really looking for the things that make it AI. When you're on pinterest, looking for inspo, you look at these with a glance. Sure, you know what to look for, but you're not gonna be looking
Even using AI as inspiration is a bit scummy tbqh. The artists or original image posters never gave any permission to any AI company to use their images in databases for their AI, yet they have literally 0 way to tell them to not use their images either. It's legal thievery and it's BS. I genuinely hope artists will be able to sue AI companies for using their art without permission in the near future.
To me, most of them just look like 3D renders using Blender and Mineways. There are some sketchy ai generated pictures, but I do see many renders as well*

We need that one guy who made howl's moving castle to make this house JUST like the AI image lol. Using the rotating entities n stuff. (Stan616)
Ive never heard of this build
@sapphicseas0451 he's called "Stan616". He has a yt channel and he's really good lol.
idk how nobody spots the AI Lighting(tm). it's always weirdly soft, even for shaders, and always has those aesthetic(tm) glow effects and really 3d-model-showcase-looking lights that make it seem like a miniature set irl, with none of the saturation, pixelation or banding you'd get from in-game shaders
AI is killing art and people capacity to get authentic inspiration.
real
wow, love this concept, never been good at building myself, but I might try after watching this
The algorithm has blessed me today
I appreciate it! Glad you enjoyed
I LITERALLY TRIED BUILDING THAT EXACT SAME HOUSE ON MY SERVER
your house turned out beautiful! ai minecraft houses are so unnecessary and look awful, i feel bad for people who take time to make builds being overshadowed by lazy garbage ai
Luckily I do think right now most people hate ai houses. They’re more of an annoyance when looking for inspiration right now than a huge issue. But overtime they’ll get better and start becoming a real problem in my opinion.
Glad you liked the house, I appreciate it!
I was using pinterest for ideas for minecraft houses and I decided one day I was actually gonna try and build one and I really just couldnt get it to work structurally in game, even with mods.
same
I'm usually good at telling AI and Human content apart, but now I feel so bamboozled and betrayed for not realizing those were A.I 😭😭😭
Nice build! Ofc I prefer the real version since you can actually play around in it, but using the AI image as inspiration is pretty genius, too.
Just had to point out The fact you said you can’t do corners on Minecraft with Fences But On bedrock you can but yes other than that you are correct about it being Ai generated
Bro just casually has the most chill voice ever.
Leaves are a pretty big giveaway imo
4:23 if you already know how to spot AI images lmao
this was a really eye opening and interesting video. i had to watch it at .8 speed to make it understandable. worth it
Im sorry lol. I definitely talk too fast
Now with AI Minecraft, I think we’re approaching the point where it will become impossible to tell AI apart from the real thing. 😱 Not only that they’ll look like they’re built in Vanilla, they’d look very real… so scary!😨
i was hoping someone would make a video like this ever since i started seeing them on pinterest ;o
The one thing i don't like is the spruce roof, but yeah, your human version is orders of magnitude better.
Imagine being an artist and looking for reference images... AI has absolutely ruined pinterest.
Ai only showing that its destroying the internet and ruining art and inspiration. I hope theyre happy with the disgrace they accomplished.
There will probably be an AI build generating mod for Minecraft soon and then it will become really hard to tell real builds from ai builds
Based on the background builds in the early part of the video, you've good skillz, assuming they're yours, but a $3 ask for a MC house is batshit crazy.
It’s 3 dollars for 100+ houses lol. It’s more of a bonus for donating really.
@@Rowann1 Ah. Well.
I prop would have used white concrete + wool and maybe a bit of diorite instead of sandstone but yours is def better than the ai
you can actually make curved fences with block displays (i know the image is AI tho)
We need to have more AI detection education
It wouldn’t be half as irritating if they were transparent about it…
I miss when ai images were just goofy crt memes.
Can I get a link for a bunch of these? I wanna try my hand at trying to one-up them as well.
I'm only 1 minute in but wanted to say that you can kinda recreate these builds using display models and barrier blocks.
surely, yeah but that person who posted these clearly used ai, like it's obvious.
@Marciunus16 👍
2:02 but but block display entities :(
Really fun video idea
I feel stupid for never realizing it was AI. 😮
Paranoid UA-camr yells at The Cloud.
😩
Looking for anything on a search engine nowadays necessitates having -ai in the query, because else it'll just be some atrocity of a steam engine someone made for shits and giggles that the site decided to store forever instead of just keep private.
the unfortunate thing about this, is that you're not really looking for the things that make it AI. When you're on pinterest, looking for inspo, you look at these with a glance. Sure, you know what to look for, but you're not gonna be looking
What shaders do you use?
Rethinking Voxels
If the first house is using a texture pack why is the bricks not the same texture
you should have used mud for the roof

Even using AI as inspiration is a bit scummy tbqh. The artists or original image posters never gave any permission to any AI company to use their images in databases for their AI, yet they have literally 0 way to tell them to not use their images either. It's legal thievery and it's BS. I genuinely hope artists will be able to sue AI companies for using their art without permission in the near future.
To me, most of them just look like 3D renders using Blender and Mineways.
There are some sketchy ai generated pictures, but I do see many renders as well*
Video popped off
People aren't posting these, it's getting automated by AI
your voice is so calming
