Thank you for answering my question about the Venue 😄! Hopefully Hyundai will give it a little love and redesign it for the '26 or '27 model year since it's getting a little long in the tooth compared to the competition. Fun fact: I live in Puerto Rico, and the Venue, along with the Outlander Sport (RVR), are very popular cars here because of how inexpensive they are. And yes, I agree that the Outlander Sport is very reliable. I have a family member that owns a 2011 and it still runs like new, plus all the other older examples that are still on the road.
Zack your right there will be alot more alignments of companys to share and build vehicle . Stellantis needs to release RAM Dodge and find another partnership with some other company. Love your show , have a good day.
As the owner of a 2019 Kia Niro PHEV & a 2023 Niro HEV (both midrange trims) I second Zack's emotion. The Niro is definitely worth a hard look if you can get past the over-sold notion that everyone needs AWD. And no, I don't challenge Pri's at the light. But my Niros get better MPG, are more comfy & have more utility! Also, FWIW, CR has rated them as one of the most reliable compact cars available.
75,000 kms for a brake job is only relevant to how and where you drive. My 2019 Camry had brakes at 4 years and 40,000 kms. Fronts were done. All in town driving. My F150 went 140,000 kms 90% hiway in 5 years.
A family of 4 in a Venue packed like sardines was funny. However, guys please have empathy and humility - prices are very high for cars, and people can't afford a lot. I know Andrea wasn't laughing at that, but it did hurt a bit ...

Although it looked pretty cute seeing the tall teenagers in the back and it gave me it a chuckle, it also showed me how we don't always need bigger and we don't always need something so expensive. You can get away with much less, all that we have is not always necessary. I thought it was great to see a family of four in one and I wasn't trying to be mean at all. Our son's friend was driving his parent's Mazda3 and we talk about how small the rear seat is when we do our reviews but there were four tall boys in that vehicle and they seemed quite happy in the rear seat, one was our son. You can totally get by on a tighter budget and be happy without all the bells and whistles.

Regarding the Venue crack, well, we all can't afford to drive luxury and performance cars. And the Venue serves a target market that car makers often ignore. I'm going to retire in less than 3 years. My Kia Soul was on its last legs. I needed a car to drive to and from work. I wanted heated seats, upgraded sound and a few other pleasantries. I bought a "top-of-the-line" (its OK to laugh😂) new Venue last year for which I was able to negotiate the price down (try doing that with a Toyota or Honda) and was given a nice trade-in value on my Kia. I bought my Venue for much less than the starting price of a BASE Corolla or Civic. Oh, and due to my good credit score, I snagged an interest rate of 3.39%. I'll have it paid off before I retire. I have 3 years of free maintainance and a 10 year powertrain warranty. I drive it just for work. The rest of the time we drive our Rav4. After I retire, I may keep it for an errand car, or trade it in on a used Camry or Accord. We'll see how the economy affects my retirement investments. Is it under powered? Yes. Is it pretty or sexy? Nope. But it fills my needs for what it is: an inexpensive car to get to and from work, with some perks like heated seats, etc, and that will be paid off quickly. And Zack, the closest Mitsubishi dealer to me (in the US) is an hour away. They have a roughly equivalent warranty, but driving an hour 1 way to a dealer for coverered maintenance, effectively taking an entire day off work for the free maintenance period is not a good choice. At least Andrea tried to cover for you 😔
Some collaborations have not worked well historically. Wasn’t the Chrysler TC Maserati Collab a flop? The Cosworth Vega…meh? Although, I kinda like them. It’s probably difficult for brand loyalists to be pulled in two different directions? Great episode par usual.
GM already has GM Korea (formerly Daewoo). So working with Hyundai, if it comes to be, would not be too difficult or foreign for GM as it is already familiar with the socio-political culture of doing business in S. Korea. The Spark, Trax, and Trailblazer and Buick cousins for example, are all made in Korea. The quality of any product is never reliant on a brand and her reputation. It's the work-ethic and dedication of every woman and man on the shop floor.
The Venue is a cute little car ☺ I've never driven one but used to drive a 1985 Sentra that I would be surprised to find it had more than 80hpr😂 7 bucks to fill the tank if empty.. I lived in the mountains and drove that car all 3 winters I attended Va Tech. ...just looked it up...69 hpr...92 pound foot 🤣😂
Well, GM and Hyundai have a great talent at sweeping major, chronic, decade-long issues under the rug. Maybe they can learn something on how to avoid accountability. Hyundai's engine failures and GM's lifter/push rod engine failures. For 10 years! How do they keep ducking this incredibly bad press?
I think the main contention people have with the Honda/GM agreement is it's kinda of seen as Honda will be severly dragged down by GM as Honda has a pretty good reputaion for building lomg lasting engines. GM, not so much. Where Hyundai doesn't have the same reputation... In fact if you ask most people I think their reputation is building cheap throw away junk and probably would be better if partnered with GM. So that's probably why there hasn't been as much reaction.
Niro is a tall hatchback for the city, made for fuel economy and carrying utility. It's great for what it's meant to do. IMO for the intended customer, AWD would be nice only if it was an option of an e-AWD with a rear electric motor in the back. But how much would that cost?

Yes, about 6% economy loss for a typical AWD drivetrain. But some AWD PHEVs like mine keep the motor separate, in the rear axle, AWD with very minimal frictional losses.
@@billurban1581 yes, for example in Toyota hybrids AWD usually is only 1MPG penalty - like you said due to absence of shaft, or transfer case etc. Just an electric motor on rear axle that only turns on when front wheels start to slip. In addition it acts as a generator and recoups battery faster - which is brilliant. Extremely reliable and low maintenance too: lifetime fluid in it as even 300k mile vehicles will only see like 5k of real AWD action in real life.

This is just not technically true. An all wheel with snow tires will always be better for traction than driving only one axle. An all wheel with all seasons will be way worse that either front or rear with winters on though. You can just go watch comparisons on the channel Tyre Reviews... And many more. It's blatantly obvious in acceleration and maneuvering that AWD is better.
It hasn't been my experience at all. After nearly a dozen of front wheel drive vehicles, I bought a used AWD Nissan Qashqai 3 years ago and, Holy smokes!!! The difference in unreal when taking off from a stop or a green light on icy and snowy surfaces. So, NO! Good snow tires on a FWD are NOT "just as good".
@@jean-philippeperetti8463 same. I used to have FWD with snow tires...then I got my first AWD with regular tires, and the AWD with regular tires was so superior in so many ways! Same when turning in snow; not just taking off from lights and avoiding cars sliding around.
Hyundai + GM make sense for each other. Cheap tacky trendy junk. Honda is a classic and dropping down to GM's low is/was terrible. Toyota Honda Subaru Mazda are reliable proper smart brands.
Classic my a$s. Reminds me of old Sony. If you don't innovate quickly, full retardation and go extinction. Just like RIM, Nokia, Sony, Hitachi, Sharp, and Panasonic. 😂
Yes, classic transmission failures from Honda 😂 everyone remembers. And it lasted for decades lol. Probably second worst company in transmission reliability after Nissan CVT. 🤣 Engine oil dilution issues? 🤭At this point Honda is trying to recover from that disaster, but it's nowhere near Toyota/Lexus. I'd say, considering all issues it's on par with Hyundai. Yep. Maybe even slightly less reliable than Hyundai. Hard to tell.
I know what you mean by junk - poor reliability. But they are so nice to drive and full of tech. That's why smart people lease them in the USA, and they reap the full benefits: they enjoy the brand-new BMW and let the dealership (and second owners) worry about reliability. Is it a financially smart decision? Probably not, but you gotta pay to play. My family has 2 BMW right now, and we owned 3 more in the past. Of the 5 BMWs we have experience with, only 2 had issues: both were SUVs. Sedans were a bit better in reliability. If you have money to maintain them and a good local mechanic to avoid dealership maintenance and repair costs - then BMW makes sense. On the other hand, I just bought 2024 RAV4 Hybrid for myself. It should last forever lol. Well, maybe not forever, but I expect it to be much more reliable than any BMW. I really do. However, ask me if I like driving RAV4? Absolutely not. It's an econobox. I bought it in March and already put 25k miles on it. My average is 41mpg, it looks good, but oh boy, it is noisy, cheap materials everywhere: on dash, cheap seats, cheap door carts, cheap thin metal sheets, water based paint that chips away easily. After BMWs you can righteously call this thing junk lol. But this thing will probably never give me problems and maintenance is cheap. And that's why I like my "junk" RAV4! Anyway, everything is relative and it always depends on budget, goals, purpose and so on. There are no ideal vehicles.
Legacy auto makers will find it less prudent to team up together if developing NEVs (including EREVs/hybrids).Look at the many german manufacturers going to china for leading battery, software, platform technologies; Tesla uses the latest chinese LFP batteries, builds in China (50% global output) and probably makes the highest profit margins compared to their other gigafactories. Do like toyota, stay the course with hybrids; as the EV evolves into the next generation, build solid vehicles with increased range , tech improvements, prices falling and tariffs lifted. Collaborate with companies with the most cost efficient software & hardware. Just look at all the legacies that invested heavily into EVs, all are continuing to lose tens of billions still trying to sell ICE. Toyota profits billions with their hybrid approach and very minimal capital losses not pursuing full EV tech.*Apple's EV $10B, 10 years, 6 feet under.

Same when turning in snow; not just taking off from lights and avoiding cars sliding around.
that's like saying your height is 6'.0'' with 5 inch tall shoes. It kinda is, but then it kinda is not. 🤭
Hyundai + GM make sense for each other. Cheap tacky trendy junk. Honda is a classic and dropping down to GM's low is/was terrible. Toyota Honda Subaru Mazda are reliable proper smart brands.
Not really
Classic my a$s. Reminds me of old Sony. If you don't innovate quickly, full retardation and go extinction. Just like RIM, Nokia, Sony, Hitachi, Sharp, and Panasonic. 😂
Yes, classic transmission failures from Honda 😂 everyone remembers. And it lasted for decades lol. Probably second worst company in transmission reliability after Nissan CVT. 🤣
Engine oil dilution issues? 🤭At this point Honda is trying to recover from that disaster, but it's nowhere near Toyota/Lexus. I'd say, considering all issues it's on par with Hyundai. Yep. Maybe even slightly less reliable than Hyundai. Hard to tell.
There are lots of reliable GM vehicles on the road. This isn't 1988. GM has some of the best engineers and a collaboration can benefit both companies.
German vehicles are junk and expensive to maintain. I make this comment based upon owning a 5 series BMW.
My 2015 X1 was bulletproof for six years
My Macan S transmission was replaced as soon as the warranty is over. 😢
@@billurban1581What happened after 6 years?
@@wyw201 sold it to my neighbor in 2021, he still loves it. I had bought my first PHEV, Volvo S60.
Gm sucks!!! That is why?? Bad move!!
Legacy auto makers will find it less prudent to team up together if developing NEVs (including EREVs/hybrids).Look at the many german
manufacturers going to china for leading battery, software, platform technologies; Tesla uses the latest chinese LFP batteries, builds in China (50% global output) and probably makes the highest profit margins compared to their other gigafactories.
When Mercedes Benz teamed up with Chrysler reliability went downhill
For who? Mercedes? Chrysler was already unreliable. It's hard to get any worse.
