Restoration Of A Ruined Legend - Honda VFR 400 NC30 - Part 8

- Well my friends here we are at the last episode of the Honda VFR400 NC30 restoration series and now that we are here I can honestly say its my best restoration to date but on the other hand I never want to work on an NC30 again! Why is that you may ask? well its just the fact that this project has been such an adventure what with the rarity of parts, the cost of restoration, waiting times, the complexity of some of the parts so one VFR restoration is more than enough for me lol. So in this episode I tackle the job I've been putting off the most and that's tackling the bodywork its in such bad condition getting it back to a state where the repairs could be done was a challenging in its self but once it was all painted and stickered up it looked a million dollars. Also in this episode I got the exhaust all cleaned up and fitted along with all of the other mechanical parts and that's about it I think.
Enjoy.

Restoration Of A Ruined Legend - Honda VFR 400 NC30 - Part 8 - Авто та транспорт
I stand corrected. After a few comments and a bit or research it now seems much more likely that at some point the bike the bike was sporting a Mick Doohan Repsol replica paint job. Cheers Guys for pointing that out :)
I saw Mick Doohans last race in Sydney, Eastern Creek in 1993 :)
Good to know.
Our favorite Scot is back! It sure is a treat watching you do your magic, my friend. It looks like that poor paint stripper worked some major overtime getting those poor panels deglazed of all that paint. It’s hard to believe it took you such a long time to get them back to bare plastic. This project sure was a handful, but I’m glad you got it all completed to perfection. She sure is a beauty, and no corners were cut, as always. Your skills are otherworldly, keep up the great work. Thank you for always giving us your very best, my friend. Take care of yourself, and we’ll see you on the next one.
Thank you so much my friend for that extreme kind comment, It means a lot to me :)
Third favourite!
The stupid algorithm asks creator to post continuously useless stuff, but valuable content takes time to make. Thank you sir
Exactly my friend and i just refuse to post useless content and clickbait as I have much more respect for you my viewers than that, even if it does make the algorithm punish me.
What a waste of time on that old SLOW tiny banger! Cheers.@@RRCRestoration
@@theaustralianconundrum ?
I blame Al Gore for this rhythm
One of rare things in this world that can calm me down. Thank you so much.
PERFECT late night video! My newborn just woke up and I’m currently feeding her. This one entertains me, and the noises are soothing her back to sleep.
Man it’s been awhile but I’m so happy this beauty is finally back together better than new!!!!! Enjoy the heck out of her!!!
I think what is so impressive is not only your skills, but the range of skills. There doesn't seem to be anything you can't do to an incredible standard (apart from the seat upholstery, but I bet you could if you wanted to!). Absolutely marvellous and to bring this bike back to showroom - or better - condition is a treat to watch.
you're too kind :)
One of my favourite channels on UA-cam ❤
You're too kind :)
Yep me too.🔧
If I ever win the lottery, you're gonna be a busy man.. absolutely outstanding build. Loved every second of it. Thankyou..
My thoughts exactly, I've got a 96 Honda CBR f3 i would happily send for a full nut and bolt rebuild from this guy 👌
Yeah, excellent craftsmanship in everything he does.
Turned out beautiful as the day it rolled off the show room.
The wait for these videos is torture but worth it. Amazing craftsmanship with such a soothing voiceover! More please!
Thank you, I apologise for the wait but some episodes are alot more labor intensive than others im afraid :( really happy to hear that you enjoy the videos though :)
@RRCRestoration I must admit I was extra interested in this one as I had an NC24 almost 30 years ago in these same colours. Can't wait to see you ride this one (and hear it, the whirring sound brings back so many memories!)
My wife and me always ask each other "what good happened today?" For the past few years I've been telling her "my favourite UA-camr added a new video" as your work really makes my day better. Thank you for all the amazing content!
Love it thank you so much and all the best to you and your wife :)
Fantastic work!!! Thank you for sharing.
I know it's been a long slog, but that bike is absolutely beautiful, a credit to your skills and fortitude, you should be proud, thanks.
Thanks for watching and leaving a kind comment :)
I always give your vids a thumbs up as I hit play. I know it's gonna be great. Cheers mate!
Yup, we're quite clairvoyant in this regard ;-)
Same
Me too!
Thank you so much that vote of confidence means a lot :)
It's a given.
Ha sido magistral!!! He disfrutado con cada uno de los vídeos. Aquí tienes un admirador incondicional.
Gracias por tu trabajo.
I had no idea that people were stealing other's works and posting as their own until recently. I have noticed a number of channels doing the same as you. Such a shame. Your work is absolutely without equal! Thanks for sharing your time and talent with all of us!
Yeah, that shit is rampant on here. UA-cam doesn’t give a shit since they get paid either way.
@@st3althyoneYou are so right!
Pristine restoration ... Outstanding !!! Cheers, man, extremely good job !!👍👍👏👏👏
Thank you very much buddy :)
Take a bow sir, tremendous turn around, skills!
Thank you so much :)
👏 bravo maestro! It’s beautiful! Thanks for letting us join you in your restoration!!! Hope your “ride” was fun!
I just started the episode but wanted to say thank you for taking the time to share your talent. I always appreciate your videos- the time/patience/attention to detail is always appreciated.
Amazing. Who wouldn't want to purchase this beautiful thing that comes with a complete video documentation of its restoration.
It's great to see a gem like this return to its glory days! 👏👏👏 Be sure to show her on the road when winter is over!
Thank you I'm glad you enjoyed it. Not to worry as soon as the sun is out the bike will be too ;)
Absolutely incredible rebuild. Looked showroom fresh and is absolutely invaluable and meticulous work. Well done.
The absolute GOAT of bike restoration bar none, end of story
What a beautiful bike, you restored it better than new. Great job.
Thank you so much :)
I love the fact you do everything right down to paint , see a lot of people do some stuff then ship other bits out . skills !
Thank you, glad you enjoy my work :)
The VFR looked stunning in the 90’s when I ride sports bikes (as everyone did) and it still looks great now. Design hadn’t dated at all. Superb restoration and attention to detail is second to none as always.
You’ve given me so much motivation during the years! I’m now on my 8th restoration, learning on the way and by watching your videos. I’m now working on a Yamaha RD350 Lc 1982.
Nice one, Im on the look out for and RD350 to restore at some point too but getting unrestored ones is quite tricky these days well it is here anyway lol
@@RRCRestoration Same in Sweden.. I just got really really lucky. An old neighbour, in both ways, he is 85y old. He had three motorcycles and had decided to let them go. This RD had been standing outside for 6-7y.. swedish weather isn’t the best way to preserve a motorcycle haha.
@@RRCRestoration If I'd known you were looking! I just gave a 1974 RD250A to a friend of mine who was looking for a project. I've replaced that with a 1975 DT250B that I bought at the weekend. I'm currently in Texas and it cost about 600 quid to get the bike to him in England. I can let you know if I stumble across anything like that in the future.
@@fizzyridertoo, who did you use? I am in the US and I have at least one bike in the UK I want to get across. (K3 GSXR1000)
With all the tools and such how do you do it? Just buy the things you need as you go?
A work of art. Off the scale attention to detail. Mesmerising to watch. Awesome work 😊👍
Thank you so much 😀, really glad you enjoyed it buddy.
Your work and videos sure inspire and push me to work a bit harder with my own bikes. Thank you for great content.
Give this guy a complete shop, a few employees and he'd restore anything!❤❤❤
I think his attention to detail and sheer quality of work comes from the fact that he works alone, a true perfectionist 👌
Wow! Usually I admire your restoration work but here, I admit that you amazed me. This is a motorcycle dear to my heart and I couldn't wait to see this superb machine running again. In addition, I have learned a lot since I followed your channel and the fairing repair stage is a lesson for me because I have often had small problems on the road and now I know how to fix them. Well done and thank you .... Bonjour de la france et bonne continuation
merci beaucoup, for leaving that very kind comment and im really happy to have shared some of my knowledge with you. :)
What a wonderful transformation, excellent job.
Thank you so much! :)
Thank you so much for restoring this fine bike. When finished it genuinely make me smile as I watched. Thank you for sharing this with us 🙂

Absolutely brilliant down to every last nut, bolt, clip and panel. Bravo sir!
thank you so much RRC for sharing this with us, I got so much enjoyment from watching.
Thank you so much, really glad you enjoyed it :)
WOW, what a fantastic job. Someone is going to be very lucky to own that 👏👏👏
Thank you :)
A complete triumph. Its the tools that I realise i havent got that gets me. The attention to detail was fabulous and the bike is truly concourse now. Well done and thanks so much for sharing.
I have a 2002 VFR
It was very helpful for maintenance, thank you
What a difference a few coats of paint make.... and several dozen hours of prep and sanding. Great work as always!
Haha yup, the painting is the easy bit its the prep that takes the time.
What paint striper have u used on th3 plastics?
"Desolving the panels" 😱 I love your dry humour. It looks fantastic to this Honda fan.
Haha glad you liked my little joke :)
Hi all of your videos are very impressive. Thanks a lot 👍🏻. Great job
I am in awe. In my opinion your work is second to none.👍
As an English man, i dont want to big up a scotsman (joke), you are by far the best skilled motorcycle restorer on youtube, you're attention to detail is amazing, look forward to your next projects .
Thank you so much my friend, I know that must've hurt ;) haha Cheers for the comment ,glad you enjoyed the series :)
I am speechless!!! What an incredible restoration. Your attention to detail and true master craftsmanship is truly amazing. That motorcycle is going to be a head turner for sure. I have watched the last episode three times already. You really have outdone yourself this time. Truly a gorgeous motorcycle. Cheers my friend and a massive thank you for creating such incredible content for all of us to marvel at. Cheers for a job well done 🥃
Cheers my friend always a pleasure to hear from you and I'm so glad you've enjoyed this final episode. 🥃

Thank you so much 😀
Really enjoyed this project ….takes me back to me and my mates when we first passed are tests.thanks for the videos
Absolutely amazing a proper restoration, a standard we all should aim for if we want to call our projects restorations, not just a clean it and spray it job we see so often here on UA-cam. Congratulations and best regards from Ireland.
Much awaited! Almost everyday I go to your page to check! ❤
Thank you my friend :)
Don't ever let it be said that you aren't a master at all you do. You have amazing skills and knowledge.
you're too kind :)
Second non-125cc bike I ever owned, I feel lucky to have had such a classic. Fabulous video series, thanks for sharing the experience. Greetings from Leith 🏴
Thanks a bunch - really glad to see this thing brought back into such great shape. These bikes were wonderful and deserve preservation and enjoyment.
"Magic exhaust cleaner"... please elaborate :D
Phenomenal restoration. You took it from trash to treasure. Now take it for a ride then have a pint.
Looks like Harpic Power Plus 10 ?
Ah now if i tell everyone what it is it will lose its magic-ness ;) lol. Really glad you enjoyed the restoration.
@@ro63rtoyep I also thought toilet cleaner
You really are the best. The little Honda is better than new, the little beauty 👏👏💯👍👍👍
Bottom line, Very, very nice job. The time it takes to accomplish this is some people would never get it. Keep up the good work.
Turned out stunning especially when you see he before and after pictures, also loved the pretend ride at the end.
Thoroughly enjoyed this one, as it is one of the bikes I drooled over as a teen. Masterful work, im learning from you too. Thank you!
Incredible work. Hard to believe it is the same bike. Inspirational!
No words for a job like that, it's just awesome all the competencies you gained and you shared with us, thanks again.
Man that is such a beautiful bike. A work of art and a testament to your superb skill and ability. Many thanks indeed.
I'd absolutely love to see it out on the road once the weather improves. You deserve to show it off in it's natural habitat
Not to worry once, summer arrives there will be cameras strapped to it and off out for a ride ;)
Just incredible work. Thank you for sharing your journey with this one.
Absolute belting job mate. Thoroughly enjoyed watching this one come back to life.
The TT, quite a virtual test drive you gave to that VFR, magnificent restoration as always! I have a VFR 750 1991 and want a restoration on that level, but nobody in my country dares to take on such project.
This is by far my favourite restoration vid. Hats off to you. Kept it nice and simple, perfect. I miss my VFR400. Wish I kept it.
Amazing transformation...very clever man. 👏 great that the bike has been resurrected and preserved.
As a retired paint sprayer it's nice to see you do a Grip and a Woof... Professional painters will know what I mean..
Omg ! So beautiful !!! 😍 Thank you for the work . 😉✌️
Magnificent! You make it look easy.
Спасибо за замечательное видео!Сам по образованию механик и смотреть Ваши ролики одно удовольствие.Было желание ZXR400 себе приобрести,но в последнее время VFR400 привлекает.
The boys at HRC should see this. YOU inspire me to work on my 1988zx10

Glad i can be of assistance :)
Absolutely loved watching this build mate! 👌 So much awesome work gone into it.
Also loved the pretend ride at the end! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Awesome. Regards from chilean patagonia entry door. I just saw all the caps of this vfr. Thanks a gain!!
You have a gift, thanks for sharing it with us.
After all that work it deserves to be in a bike museum as it’s stunning…. Still think it should have had the 916 front mud guard 😂😂
OMG your amazing mate that bike looks sweeter then when it came out off the factory keep up the good work we will keep watching and supporting you
Incredible results. Thank you for documenting the process for us to enjoy.
No problem, thanks for watching :)

You are an amazing craftsman. Everything on this project came out perfect.
From one Scotsman to another, I have to say the quality and consistency of your work is really inspiring. Truly great work my friend, from start to finish. I have a 1981 Yamaha 350LC which needs me to get on with it. Thanks for the inspiration. Kenny
That is absolutely beautiful. Incredible work
Thank you :)
Outstanding. This is ‘the’ motorbike restoration channel on UA-cam.
Love these nut and bolt restorations.
Time for another Ducati one? Maybe a 749 or 999 nut and bolt? ❤
Amazing video series! I concur with your choices for the fender, the windshield, the colours. Thank you very much for the videos, and I am very much looking forward to your next.
