She deserves to be brought back, i think we would absolutely love to see a caprice series!! she just needs a little love. Mechanically she's sound and its mainly cosmetic issues. That engine bay is insanely clean for a car that old. I absolutely love 80s and 90s gm stuff!

I love these Caprices and I have a soft spot for them, especially the 9C1. When I was a lot attendant at my first job, somebody actually traded in a ‘94 9C1 with the LT1 in it. It was an ex- Portland police car and instead of wholesaling it, we kept it as a security car. Though the car was beat, the LT1 wasn’t. It still charged liked a pissed off lion. No wonder the police loved them. For what it was, you could still legitimately call it fast. If I recall, when new they could push past 140 MPH, not too amazing now but a revelation in the mid 90’s when not even the 5.0 Mustang police cars could push past 135.

Clean it up, detail the inside, new hood, new bumper cover, new trunk lid, skim coat the roof, and paint the car dark burgundy clear coat. If you want to get nitpicky, you can always replace the carpet in the rear window, or dye what's left there. And get a dash pad cover for the dash. Get your speedometer working, and you're going to have one hell of a nice car!

I rode one of these on a several week long vacation trip from Florida to new Orleans and back in the early nineties as a nearly new low mileage rental car. (it was a double upgrade because they didn't have any other vehicle left) it was painted in metallic red and the inside in red velvet. Front bench was like a Sofa and so was the whole ride. Acceleration was worse than my 1.5l diesel Passat I had home in Europe at the time. But who cares? Really a smooth ride and a ton of space in the car. We had a Cat Stevens cassette we bought in Miami and played it a lot while driving (father and son and some of his other greatest Hits) really had a good time back then. Thanks for the video 😊

It's definitely worth saving. It comes from the era when gm made a few good and reliable cars. You really need to do a tune up, fix the cluster (I think it just needs a fuse or resistor), stitch the back seats. A few little odds and ends which I don't think will cost much. The only mod I would do is mufflers.

An ex had a 99 caprice classic, that was a great car, nice ride, good handling, had the get-up-and-go when needed. one day some idiots stopped beside us at a light and the passenger leaned out the window and said "Nice car." we said thanks, then they both said "Wanna race for pinks?" we just shook our heads and said no, they spun their tires and took off when the light turned green, half a mile up the road their car was upside down in the ditch on the side of the road, they lost control and slid off the road, they were both standing beside the wreck so I guess they were ok, we just drove by slow and laughed at them and their stupidity, my ex shouted at them "That's why you keep the racing at the tracks!".

Most of today's jelly bean shaped cars just don't have the individuality that this Caprice has. It would be great content to see this car fixed up & made to look great again. It's not necessary to turn it into a show car, just a nice, old land yacht once again.

I've owned two 91 Caprices and they both came with R12 from the factory. One was converted to R134 when it was exported to Germany because they wont ship the cars with full refrigerant in it. Once in Germany, they converted the system to R134 for environmental reasons. The other Caprice was actually imported through the Netherlands and apparently they didn't care and filled it back up with R12. It was still running with R12 when I sold it 2 years ago turning your boogers into ice bricks!

Keep it and restore it, it would be great to see that car being fully restored back to the way it was when it left the factory and keep the same colour

I had a couple of these back in the day. Great car. I'd clean it up, fix the small dings and maybe a tint, but keep it as factory as possible. Then I'd keep it for a while and drive it around. Then when you want to move on, put it up for sale.

Think of all of the great American men and women just like you and me that worked in the GM factories for 20, 30 maybe even 40 years of their lives to put together these cars day in and day out. Do it for them, bring this classic back to its former glory, I can just tell it is so happy to just be driven again, give it a second (or third) shot at life!

White was the worst color for paint peel for years even in to the 2000s seems like to me.

Side note: a replacement overlay is about $50 and you can get the matching interior paint from the same company and it do great.
