When he killed chakravartin he killed the source of "magic" that the robotic gods run on, including himself. But Asura didn't care that he would die since chakravartin was the reason he was angry, since chakravartin was the whole reason his family and everybody else suffered.
People knock on Asura's Wrath for not being a "game" and for utilizing Quick Time Events too much. I prefer to call AW an experience, one everyone should partake in. To this day I think the QtEs in this game are exactly how they should be done. They make you feel each button press. You're not just mashing B, you feel every punch as Asura desperately tried to save everyone. It's phenomenal.
