      +Austin Zappas Love Bernie, but I think its an economic revolution that is necessary . A political revolution will still leave the 1% at the top, which means that any "New Deal" Bernie comes up with will be opposed violently. Any policy that gets through congress will be chipped away at almost immediately .An economic revolution might force change without violence. the real truth is probably in between somewhere.

You have to understand that when Richard Nixon became president and sent the National Guard to Kent State, the height of the student protests was upon our country and more than anyone else in modern times, Richard Nixon proved that we were being lied to on a daily basis. That idea of questioning authority has been long ago lost on todays younger generation. When these under 30 types spend hours everyday on facebook but can't figure out how to fact check on wikipedia or other source, it makes me cringe. Don't ever believe what your government is telling you. Whether it's in Timbuktu or Seattle or Washington DC. Maybe you are being sarcastic. I am being serious. President Obama lies to us everyday. Does anybody question it?

    Most police know that they can arrest anyone without any cause at all and suffer no consequences. It used to be called 'unlawful arrest.' In fact, if you pick up some dust old law books, a citizen used to have the right to resist arrest (with reasonable means, not lethal force) if they a) had a genuine belief that the arrest was unlawful, and b) the arrest was in fact unlawful. But the ruling class never liked the ability of citizens to resist arrest or sue police departments for this, so they changed the law. Now resisting arrest is a crime in itself, even if the arrest was unlawful. Because ultimately the capitalist state relies on terror to enforce capitalist property relations - especially in a period when capitalist economics create massive poverty and chaos.

      It's all about generating revenue. The government matrix at every level of government down to municipal considers us all corporations. Why do you think that everyone's name is in all capital letters. It's called the strawman fallacy. We work to make money so we generate revenue. Aka a corporation. America is under maritime admirality law which is Roman law. Look up Lex Fori. Lawyers are foreign agents. They are part of the B.A.R. association. British Accreditation Registry. Lex Fori is a tyrannical form of government. Washington DC is not part of the US. It's owned by Rome. DC goes by their laws and constitution. The US constitution does not apply. America and all Americans lost their sovereignty and rights under the treasonous Organic act of 1871. We only have privileges that we have to buy through licenses and permits. This is why everyone is required to have birth certificates. We're all owned by the state. FDR in 1933 signed an executive order making every US citizen property of the Federal Reserve system. A US citizen does not mean that you live in the US, it actually means that everyone is employees of this system called the matrix. The legal system uses word deception called legalese. Why do you think anytime you have to go to court. You are always told ignorance of the law is no excuse. The prosecutors lawyers and judges have absolute immunity and the police have qualified immunity. We are not a free country being governed. We are all slaves to this system and being ruled. This is why we all have to pay taxes and own nothing. Making America a police state. Under Roman law.

    Well I'm French so I want to clarify things when it comes to the "Hijab law".
    First of all, this is about the Burqa, not Hijab. Wearing the Hijab is perfectly legal in France, you can see it everywhere. The Burqa fully conceals the woman's face, you can only see her eyes.
    Concealing your identity in public places with any sort of balaclava was illegal before that law was passed, but the Burqa was tolerated because it's a religious / sensitive issue. So technically, the Burqa WAS illegal even before the law passed.
    Get your facts straight, please.

    • @jaykay415
      @jaykay415 8 років тому

      Benjamin Rood I like the sound of your theory...but...if you're going to "insist on integration above religious preference" somehow it seems very unfair to also restrict access to the fruits of that society. I think this might have happened because France (Belgium, Germany, etc.) are so wed to their cultures - which is not a bad thing, except it makes it very hard to deal with immigration at all functionally.
      In contrast, in the US we have the principle of "freedom of religion," which would allow anyone to freely wear or say anything religious, but the public institution itself - school - engages in no religious activity. Also, multiculturalism is an idea kind of built into our national identity. How it is experienced varies, and I am not denying racism here.
      I just hope we are all honest about pros and cons of various places. Pitfalls have occurred unintentionally, and perhaps it is time to recalibrate and make some changes.

    Imagine for a moment that somewhere in the middle of Texas there was a large foreign military base, say Chinese or Russian. Imagine that thousands of armed foreign troops were constantly patrolling American streets in military vehicles. Imagine they were here under the auspices of “keeping us safe” or “promoting democracy” or “protecting their strategic interests.”
    Imagine that they operated outside of US law, and that the Constitution did not apply to them. Imagine that every now and then they made mistakes or acted on bad information and accidentally killed or terrorized innocent Americans, including women and children, most of the time with little to no repercussions or consequences. Imagine that they set up check points on our soil and routinely searched and ransacked entire neighborhoods of homes. Imagine if Americans were fearful of these foreign troops, and overwhelmingly thought America would be better off without their presence.
    Imagine if some Americans were so angry about them being in Texas that they actually joined together to fight them off, in defense of our soil and sovereignty, because leadership in government refused or were unable to do so. Imagine that those Americans were labeled terrorists or insurgents for their defensive actions, and routinely killed, or captured and tortured by the foreign troops on our land. Imagine that the occupiers’ attitude was that if they just killed enough Americans, the resistance would stop, but instead, for every American killed, ten more would take up arms against them, resulting in perpetual bloodshed. Imagine if most of the citizens of the foreign land also wanted these troops to return home. Imagine if they elected a leader who promised to bring them home and put an end to this horror.
    Imagine if that leader changed his mind once he took office.
    The reality is that our military presence on foreign soil is as offensive to the people that live there as armed Chinese troops would be if they were stationed in Texas. We would not stand for it here, but we have had a globe straddling empire and a very intrusive foreign policy for decades that incites a lot of hatred and resentment towards us.
    According to our own CIA, our meddling in the Middle East was the prime motivation for the horrific attacks on 9/11. But instead of re-evaluating our foreign policy, we have simply escalated it. We had a right to go after those responsible for 9/11, to be sure, but why do so many Americans feel as if we have a right to a military presence in some 160 countries when we wouldn’t stand for even one foreign base on our soil, for any reason? These are not embassies, mind you, these are military installations. The new administration is not materially changing anything about this. Shuffling troops around and playing with semantics does not accomplish the goals of the American people, who simply want our men and women to come home. 50,000 troops left behind in Iraq is not conducive to peace any more than 50,000 Russian soldiers would be in the United States.
    Shutting down military bases and ceasing to deal with other nations with threats and violence is not isolationism. It is the opposite. Opening ourselves up to friendship, honest trade and diplomacy is the foreign policy of peace and prosperity. It is the only foreign policy that will not bankrupt us in short order, as our current actions most definitely will. I share the disappointment of the American people in the foreign policy rhetoric coming from the administration. The sad thing is, our foreign policy WILL change eventually, as Rome’s did, when all budgetary and monetary tricks to fund it are exhausted.

    I'd never be able to live in the US again. I'm free to pass over a cop car whenever I want. I'm free to go over the speed limit to a certain degree, I may get a ticket in the mail from a radar but at least I'm not going to get pulled over by a cop unless I'm driving recklessly. Just a few weeks ago I rushed to make a left turn while a cop car was coming from the other way, he had to stop so that I could go through, I made a gesture of "sorry" from inside the car and he looked at me and made a gesture of "no worries". Seriously, I've never been pulled over by a cop in my country, and while there is a lot of racism still in my society and me being black, at least I don't have to worry about driving while black. For contrast I did live in the US (VA) for about three years, I can remember being pulled over by cops regularly...

    The mailman, according to the summons he was given at the police station, was actually arrested for resisting arrest! To resist arrest, doesn't there have to be a charge you are being arrested for? How can you resist arrest if you aren't being arrested for anything?

    • @MajorKeys714
      @MajorKeys714 8 років тому

      They have to have a reason for arresting or detaining you. All I'm asking is why the guy was arrested. I didn't see the guy resisting anything in this video. Unless you believe asking what the problem is is resisting. This is just stupid, and I hope that guy files a suit. Usually they do this to black guys hoping they'll find a warrant to justify their behavior. But the guy has a clean record. You have to be willing to call things stupid and illegal when they are clearly stupid and illegal.

    • @MajorKeys714
      @MajorKeys714 8 років тому

      +RepEvox If there was a reason, he would have been charged with it at the police station. But the only charge is resisting arrest, and I still want to know why they were arresting him in the first place. The guy is an outstanding citizen--he didn't have any police record; how much more outstanding do you have to be.
      If I'm being arrested, I should be told what I'm being arrested for if I ask for that information. I believe that is the law.

      To File A Police Misconduct Complaint:
      CContact the Civilian Complaint Review Board by calling 311 or by visiting www.nyc.gov/html/ccrb.

    *Steps I've learn about not getting shot by cops. Am Jamaican so I should know.*
    1. When approached don't make any sudden movements and remain quiet
    2. When asked questions, answer them politely
    3. If the situation escalates to the point where you're being arrested, still remain calm and follow instructions.
    4. Asked in the most polite way possible, why you're being arrested.
    5. Don't challenge them, you are required a lawyer if you are fortunate enough to hire your own, remain calm and wait on their present. Let them do the battling.
    *Things to note*
    1. Make sure you know the law
    2. Eye contact may lead some cops to think you're are belittling them, and no eye contact will make you look disingenuous so balance between the two
    3. Just cooperate to your best without compromising yourself.
    Might seem like you are giving in to them but you have to give in until something is don't about the whole justice system. They are the top of the food chain so avoid all confrontations.

    You missed a couple of key points on the Brooklyn story. First, this illegal arrest was carried out by 5 cops, 1 was actually a Lieutenant. When they were transporting him to the 71st precinct, the driver turned around to taunt him and rear-ended the car in front of him. I guess the mailman was right about his driving. Second, there are protocols in place for when an officer has to arrest a federal employee. They not only disregarded them, but left the mail truck unattended, unsecured, and still double parked. The police are now under FEDERAL investigation for violating a number of crimes pertaining to the mail.

    I live in a very white town just south of Sacramento. Both my husband and I are mixed, but I am white and he is Mexican, as far as looks are concerned. We have one car, a recognizable one. The police force here is known to be racist, and are the type of cops that shoot first, ask questions later. I'm not just saying that, they've had multiple incidents. A few months ago, my husband was pulled over. The stop took a total of two and a half hours. When he came back he told me the cops were just hanging out, shooting the shit while he sat there and waited. Then they let him go. A few weeks later he got pulled over by the same car. The officer gave him a ticket. The next week he got a second ticket by the same officer. The following week they insisted they smelled Marijuana, and had him unload the entire car for them to look through. Then they let him go. Since then he's been hit another three times by the same cop, who has repeatedly asked if he has drugs on him. I wasn't believing his stories at first, and honestly thought he didn't want to admit he was driving recklessly. Then one day last month we all went out as a family. We were driving down the main road when "the cop" spotted him and immediately pulled around. We took some evasive measures and hid in a culdesac. He drove up and down the street looking for us. Then we brought our son to school one day and he was sitting there in front of the school, waiting. I got out of the car and looked him dead in the eyes and he drove away. I have seen him when I'm alone in the car and he has never once looked twice at me. But every time my husband leaves he has to hide and take evasive measures to avoid him. The last time he got pulled over, the pig asked him if he had any drugs, laughed with his buddy and again had to let him go. We're honestly terrified. This cop follows him, and knows where we live. He tried explaining to another officer what was happening, and was laughed at. We are at a point where we have to leave town, which means our son won't go to the same school next year. This cop is literally running us out of town because my husband doesn't look white enough. At first I was furious. Now I'm just at a loss. I have no choice, but to leave.

    The common misconception here is that the cops have an obligation to serve and protect the citizenry. However, that is not the case. In Castle Rock v. Gonzalez the U. S. Supreme Court ruled that the police had no obligation to protect citizens, but only to enforce the law. The ruling stated that neither the city of Castle Rock, Colorado, nor its police department could be sued for failing to protect a woman and her children from an estranged husband against whom a restraining order had been issued. The action that precipitated the lawsuit was the kidnapping of the couple's three daughters. Although the victim alerted the police several times that the assailant had taken the children without the mother's consent and in violation of the restraining order, the police failed to act in a timely manner, resulting in the murder of the three girls.

    Every time a video of a cop wrongfully arresting someone (note, its more often than not, in LIBERAL states like New York or California, though admittedly, not always), it reminds me of a sequence towards the end of "V for Vendetta". It's the domino sequence in which citizens grow increasingly tired of living under a police state, and eventually respond to police with violence. The first video of the mailman reminded me of the beginning of said sequence when the citizens begin to surround a police officer. I think we as Americans are tired of having our rights wantonly violated by police who are rarely held accountable for their actions. I'm not talking about the high profile shootings (though those are certainly part of the problem), I'm speaking more specifically about the small violations pilling up day after day, month after month, year after year. Derry in Ireland is a great example. Between 1969 and 1972, the citizens of Derry grew tired of Brittan's disregard for the poor living conditions, preferential treatment of protestants, and over-bearing police force. They eventually violently overthrew the local police and used force to repel repeated attempts by said police (the Royal Ulster Constabulary) and the British military to retake the city. We seem to be creeping towards that now.

      +eddy1229 As a Bernie supporter I have realized that you can not deny that Trump supporters and Bernie Supporters want approximately the same thing. There is just a minority of Trump supporters (30-40%) with prejudice/racist tendencies. Trump has in the past supported a Canadian health care system and taxing the rich higher and bringing back jobs. The problem is that Trump's methods have never worked. It is a continuation of the Reagan type policies. There would be no welfare state if corporations and job creators were incentivized to pay their employees a living wage. The welfare state can be eliminated if we provide free tradeschool/college and and well funded public schools, medicare for all, and public housing. A reasonable path to success can be achieved if the poor are treated with respect.

      +notatheist That's not enough and I don't want free speech to be hurt like Trump said he wants to do for people that talk bad about him. We need real revolution. The people coming together to take there country back.

      +notatheist It was slander or libel what he was bitching about. It was truth and facts about his father and his bankruptcies and other stuff. He also didn't like when people talked about what he did in Scotland when trying to take an old mans land who wouldn't sell until Scotland decided to put wind farms out there then trump bitched a lot more.

      So you think its ok when Trump slanders and insults women. But it is not ok when they do the same to him. facebook.com/OccupyDemocrats/videos/1088357791257274/ He defames himself when he says things that can be so easily misconstrued. Most people would never hire Donald trump if he came into their office because he is a human resource nightmare.

    the right to due process has been perverted by the states... the separation of power between legislation and the judicial branch is broken. a bill of attainder is forbidden but yet there are clearly such laws written and enforced. the entire domestic violence laws are just that. if you receive damages from an accusation without a jury that has weighed the facts presented and found you guilty it is a bill of attainder, not lawful and forbidden by article 1 sec 9 and 12 of the US Constitution.

    I would like to point something out to everyone even the young turks because everyone seemed to miss it , but both the cops and the mailman were being robbed right in front of everybody and I'm just surprised the young turks or anybody commenting didn't recognize this. well maybe not to surprised. I Am a reformed criminal and I see this shit all the time. I don't mean people being robbed I mean criminal behavior that always goes unnoticed. what really sucks is i wish there was something I could do about it. But really I guess it's just the eyes of a criminal. I wish I didnt have them

      ***** I would say it is legal as long as they are forced to re-active the law every year or so. The subsequent actions are subject to being unconstitutional if there is no serious emergency but they re-active it anyway.
      PS - Detaining a journalist for requesting records of a meeting that was open to the public shouldn't be covered by the Patriot Act. That sounds like plain old small town corruption.

      If I understand what you are asking, I would say we live in a representative democracy and can't refuse to follow a law without the possibility of a fine and jail. To change it we can elect new politicians to change the law.

      ***** Public pressure does work on some people. If they are in agreement then there's not much the citizens can do except wait for the next election. Some say the military wouldn't follow unconstitutional orders but the police are a different story.
