Great review! I picked this up today, as I’m a fan of Haunted House (Which Witch) from the 70s and bought the previous Ghost Castle (Goliath games) to play with my kids about ten years ago! I’ve become very curious comparing different versions. The previous one had two traps per room and was very ambitious in trap design! This one is simpler but bigger and the redesign is fascinating! This one is also more robust with thick card board and chunkier plastic piecies, andcthe traps are more fool proof and solid, less flimsy (if less imaginative though). Such a great twist after decades of design to change it to ESCAPING the castle! The Ghost dispenser is so well made and a great idea. For $20 it’s incredible the amount of design, size of the 3D board and plastic etc, pretty amazing! Great house rules you have here and Scooby characters are perfect for this! Great video you made here and gotta try your house rules with the extra “monster” characters!
Wow, what a wild looking production! Hahah - Nice lighting touch as well. Good stuff, I had six or seven seizures but it was worth it. Subscribed buddy!
Thanks for showing the closeups. I like the music and strobe. I got it from Target but hadn't opened it up. I also watched Tabletop Jason's vids. His ball bearing was going down the axe chute often as well. A boardgamegeek user has a variant. I have a creative video on my channel showing the orignal 70's Which Witch? game this is based on you might like to check out.
@@toofancyjr4700 I found it at Target when I was looking for something else. I immediately recognized it as a version of Which Witch? But the publisher makes silly themed games. They do have a good video "How to assemble GHOST CASTLE game..." Ooba Games. This is well designed and art is nice like the thin cardboard would break down putting it together and taking it down enough times. I still have it in shrink but for $20 I may take it out. I'm starting to run out of game storage room lol

Thanks for this! Would you say the pieces you construct the castle out of are sturdy or will they start to fall apart after the first few times it’s put together & taken down?
Hi meleth98! I would say that the box itself should last a long time. The walls are seemingly a bit weaker, but are still better quality than most. I believe that the game should hold up for years so long as an adult sets the game up. I appreciate the question! Thank you

Yes, you are correct. I purposely did not dive too deep into the history of the game. The layout would later be used as the Ghostbusters board game, which they pay homage to in this version. There was also a Scooby Doo themed release some time ago too. Many variations. I appreciate your mention of "Which Witch." Not a lot of consumers would know that fun fact!
As a kid back in 1984 I got the UK version of Wich Wich. It was Ghost Castle. I cant tell you how much I used to play it.. my all time favourite board game. It used to use a Glow in the dark skull instead of a silver ball and you would start outside of the castle and end up at the top of the stair case to close the coffin lid... 😱😱 Gotta say though, this one looks great, that art work is sweet!!!
@@LargerThanLifeLTL Hey I appreciate your reply. Great story. Thank you for sharing it! If you wanted you could easily play this one like that too (starting outside). If you have other figures, etc you could easily do the coffin thing too with Scooby-Doo figures or old-school Dracula figures, etc. The base game works great though! Hope to see you commenting some more on later videos! Subscribe so UA-cam will have me easily listed for you & ready for viewing when newer videos are released. I appreciate the support! Cheers!
On the directions it says that the stairs are also part of the “danger zones” did you play that way as well. So if a player were on the stairs or a red space and a ghost was rolled they would push the button?

Thanks She Pirate for the comment! Really appreciate hearing the community's feedback on my content! Planning on reviewing some retro board games soon & hopefully some N64 centered content. Stay at it!
Sure. The second time we played, we used Playmobil Scooby-Doo figures/villains. We played under the standard rules with a few modifications. First, we started at the exit & moved towards the attic (first across the finish line nabs the ghost & wins). Secondly, we added 4 monsters (1 for each room). The monsters are placed on an agreed upon yellow footprint. If a player lands on such a space they must move backwards/return to the nearest blue space...unless they have a matching case file (keep reading). Prior to the start of the game, we randomly reached into a bag and pulled out 1 "case file," each. The case files were specific to the 4 villains we chose prior to playing. So basically, if we added a zombie, clown, vampire, and witch as villains, we placed their corresponding case files into the bag to draw from. Example: I have the Zombie case file & land on the yellow footprint that is associated with the Zombie. I can then "chase," aka move the Zombie to another yellow space within the same room or you can simply choose to have the Zombie remain in place to terrorize another player (either rule is fine, you decide). Feel free to alter these rules. Get creative. I'm looking into adding some "Happening," cards that will be drawn each turn that will either help or harm players.
@@toofancyjr4700 Can you please measure the size of the box? (Width, height, depth) I would ask my friend to bring it to EU to me. Depending on the size of the box whether it can be put into his package or not (oversized).
@@thomasalex9564 I am out of town at the moment. I messaged the company. They haven't replied yet. It is not larger than 20x20 inches. Box is close to 2-2.5 inches tall if i had to guess.
The original one had a glow in the dark skull instead of a marble. How I loved that game as a kid.
I believe the new version has a glow in the dark ghost. I have yet to test it, but it appears it would glow in low light/darkness.
The game is ON SALE right now at TARGET! Grab it for $15!
