There is just something so fun about vintage rc. At least for us who grew up with vintage rc. People who only know the new stuff won't get it. I absolutely love my vintage rc's. Almost more than my new stuff.
Somebody had some fun I can tell! they maybe slow and sloppy but they sure are fun!! wheelies dude get the wild willy you will see wheelies I wheelied mine up my length of my block!
Oh man hahahaha I can’t wait for the snow to melt so we can drive the lunchbox. Giggles like a school girl for days. Love these old tamiyas. Awesome Joe!
Buddy, back in the day of the 1st gen, had a hornet. Full bearings, the hi dollar (at that time) tamiya nicad, & he put the 360 PT in it. It was a straight line missle!😁
Wow that definitely a throw back to where it is now bearings forsure make them better my old hawk2 was oil lite bearings now that I am older switched to bearings what a difference great video
They're just uncomplicated fun. I get my lunchbox out regularly. Just needs a bit of inspection on the tranmission once in a while, as jumps are not too kind on it (motor comes loose etc.)
Really cool truck! I can tell you for a fact that you would have a much better time building Tamiya kits if you knew that there was not one single Phillips screw included in any of the kits. They are JIS, and work much better with JIS screwdrivers. Regular Philips ones will slip and strip.
I had one of these when I was about 19. I have the re issue lunchbox now fitted with a lexan body. Let me tell you they may be old design and bit slow, but there really tough(the gearbox is indestructible). I've been mistreating mine for nearly 3 years now and apart from the front wheels and one front suspension bracket nothing has broken.
It's not a racer, but an ill-handling little wheely machine! I assure you the 27 turn stock motor, and the beefy plastic gears in the transaxle can handle 3s, especially since you installed bearings! The open differential can be locked by using a couple of soft ear plugs, also a ball differential upgrade for their TA02 cars should fit to give a bit more positive traction while still allowing it to turn. (I did this to a Hornet back in the day)
That whistling sound of the motor is the sound of my childhood.

Man I love the old Tamiya's.
I always build them as is except for adding bearings.
Such a blast and always great for laughs and smiles

My mate had one of these when I was a young sprog. I remember being jealous AF.
Love old school Tamiyas. They are not the fastest but they always put a smile on my face.
This thing looks like an epic truck to rip around, awesome video!!
You make awesome videos, one of the best yt rc channels imo! Hope you guys are doing okay with all the hurricanes!
That thing is a little ripper! Super Awesome!
If you do the the third shock absorber mod and put brace on the chassis between the 2 front shocks, you get way better handling.
I’m really not worried about handling. It’s just a shelf queen mostly.
Sweet ride! I would shelf it myself. IN A CASE!
Just so freaking shiny soon as I seen the picture. I was like squirrel
😂
Awesome little Beast
Just shows you can have fun with a Tamiya! Sweet run and the truck looks awesome ripping around!

Awesome run! The Pumpkin looks good. I just need to paint mine black and decal it. It is fun times.

Dang these really do bring back memories. Back in the day here. Awesome video bud
This was my very first R/C back in 1988, bought with paper route money at 12 years old. It had a basic Futaba two stick controller.
Great first run of a sweet truck.
Happy little truck.
Awesome video excellent truck those are definitely a different but fun rigs
Lot quicker than I thought it would be. Better be careful with those plastic gears haha.
The gears are actually very stout. I had one of these back in 1988 and never had an issue with the gears.
Yeah awesome, I remember the fun I had with my black edition. Appreciate you sharing that was super cool
Just like being a kid again! I love it
Watching you get so excited makes me want to go play with my rcs. Haha. Great video!!

Maaaaan, takes me back!

Bloody awesome man!
Exocaged, do you ‘break’ in your brushed motors?
These tamiya's are great, so much character. Would love to see what you would do with the konghead 6x6!
Wow is that a trip down memory lane or what?? I used to have a Black Foot back in the early 90's, did regret selling it though
IF we had realized & KEPT everything we once had. . . .
Can you put any fluid in the shocks
They are merely coil overs. No o rings. If u would put shock oil in, it runs out the bottom.

Time to race against the Clod! Haha
I need some help. Does this kit need a brushed or brushless speed control? If it does not come with an ESC?

I don't think the ball diff fits

same backend as the hornet.
