I see where you’re coming from with Silent Planet but for me it’s 100% my album of the year. One of my favorite concept albums I’ve listened to in a long time. They capture emotion in their music better than any other band I’ve ever heard. And lyrically they’re superior to any other band that I can think of, their vocals are phenomenal, instrumentals are S-tier, and just every single aspect of this band is superior to any other band in my eyes and I think they wrote their best album yet with Iridescent. Still love you though bro haha, 80 minutes is just too long for an album to be for me to enjoy it the entire way through but I did really enjoy Vildhjarta’s album!
Thanks for another year of amazing content! Here is my top 10: 1. Ice Nine Kills - Welcome To Horrorwood: The Silver Scream 2 2. ERRA - ERRA 3. Whitechapel - Kin 4. Silent Planet - Iridescent 5. Every Time I Die - Radical 6. LANDMVRKS - Lost in the Waves 7. Spiritbox - Eternal Blue 8. Of Mice & Men - Echo 9. While She Sleeps - SLEEPS SOCIETY 10. Jinjer - Wallflowers
In no particular order I’d say my top 10 albums are: 1. To the grave, epilogue 2. Brand of sacrifice, lifeblood 3. Darko, self titled 4. Spiritbox, eternal blue 5. Vexed, culling culture 6. As everything unfolds, within each lies the other 7. Mirrors, the egos weight 8. Distant, aeons of oblivion 9. Sentinels, collapse by design 10. Signs of the swarm, absolvere
First off, Happy New Year! Second, You helped me find one of my favorite albums that I've ever heard in my life, up there next to 50 Cent's "Get Rich or Die Trying" by showing me Phineas' new album "The Fire Itself." As a Christian, I really appreciate it. That aside, the other thing that surprised me is that guys like You, Ohrion, Wyatt Stav and Rachelle helped me to open my mind to deathcore, because I was never really into it until this year, tbh. I might become a full on fan of that stuff yet at this rate lol. Looking forward to mare content from you, man!
Glad I could help man! That’s why I don’t just stick to one sub genre of metal, I hope to have some viewers expand and check out new bands and expand their taste. Oh and Happy New Years to you too man!
my personal top 10 (very hard to rank) 1. Vildhjarta - Masstaden Under Vatten 2. Mastadon - Hushed And Grim 3. Sentinels - Collapse by Design 4. Atlas - Ukko 5. Gojira - Fortitude 6. ERRA - ERRA 7. Silent Planet - Iridescent 8. Indistinct - Reign of Silence 9. Spiritbox - Eternal Blue 10. Knocked Loose - A Tear in the Fabric of Life (its an EP I know but its that good)
Kinda surprised to see Rivers of Nihil so low on your list with you being such a prog metal fan. I'm a huge prog guy and that's my AOTY without a doubt. I get that it's a somewhat divisive album, but it hooked me instantly.
Hey, man. Has anyone told that you look exactly like Russian nhl player Nikita Kucherov? To be honest clicked on the video only for that reason but stayed till the end and loved it, thanks!
I considered EPs for my top albums of 2021, so here’s my list: 1. Silent Planet - Iridescent 2. Whitechapel - Kin 3. Spiritbox - Eternal Blue 4. **Slice the Cake - OttW** Honorable first place, but it wasn't released this year, I just happened to listen to it for the first time this year and it's the only album that competes with Vildjharta and RoN for play time at the moment 1. @@jaydenjbryant8665 Everything. The guitar riffs, the guitar tone, the bass tone, the drums, the vocals (listen to the instrumental version of the album if they make it all harder to comprehend), the ambience, the overall production, the concept, the artwork, the 80 minute runtime of the album... I could go on and on about every tiny little detail that makes it album of the year (likely album of the decade), but the easiest way to sum it all up is to say that they're simply changing the game, doing things that have never been done and paving the way for the genre.
@@jaydenjbryant8665 If you have some free time, I must insist that you put in some earphones, find a comfortable place with no distractions and listen to the instrumental version of Masstaden Under Vatten. If you can still honestly say it's all "00000 chugging", then i'm convinced you're either a troll or deaf.

@@jasonlovesmusicreacting882 For me, sure. Leveler is one of my favorite Metalcore albums of all time and the re-recorded version with new solos, heavier guitars (down tuned) and guest vocals was a highlight for me.
Love the list - surprised you didn't rank Vola higher :-) on my own top 10, tried hard to not make it an "all metal" list, and think I succeeded in that :-) [01] Spiritbox - Eternal Blue [02] Vola - Witness [03] Sleep Token - This Place Will Become Your Tomb [04] Little Simz - Sometimes I Might Be Introvert [05] Turnstile - Glow On [06] Amyl and the Sniffers - Comfort to Me [07] Deafheaven - Infinite Granite [08] Halsey - If I can't have love, I want power [09] Japanese Breakfast - Jubilee [10] Cassandra Jenkins - An Overview On Phenomenal Nature
Very very good final top 10 actually. Horizons/East was just - beautiful. Colours 2 is just shows how i personally missed BTBAM so much. Besides that, in my personal list is definitely Hushed and Grim by Mastodon. In my opinion they never make a bad album, but this one is just so interesting and different even. Good good stuff. Happy New Year Metalbirb. Keep going man.

Wooow im surprised you had ERRA so high. Mainly because it took you a long time to come around to them. I loved it as well. ERRA/SILENT PLANET/SPIRITBOX I think were my favorites. Ill be in Toronto in March to see Every Time i Die/Spiritbox/Underoath going to be a rad show.
Totally agree with this list. I think architects album was good enough to maybe make the top 30, but I agree that it wasn’t quite 25 material. Sad after holy hell
Hey I'm glad someone didn't just copy and paste Eternal Blue/Lost in the Waves as their top albums. They were great, but I felt like this year had a lot more dynamic and interesting albums but for some reason they are on everyones top albums of the year. Probably my favorite 2021 top list even if mine looks totally different.
YOOOOOOOOO We had the same album for number 1. Being Swedish myself, this album really hit the right spot for me because I don't think there's a lot of Swedish bands that actually do harsh vocals in their own language. The cleans come in at the perfect moments and everything about this album is just so consistently good, it flows through so perfectly.
As you can expect I'm an Outlier here😉 1. The Night Flight Orchestra - Aeromantic II 2. Crusade - Rising Visionary 3. Vola - Witness 4. Ty Catafalque - Vadak 5. Obscura - A Valediction 6. LTE - LTE3 7. Jinjer - Wallflowers 8. Beast in Black - Dark Connection 9. Dream Theater - A View From The Top Of The World 10. Holding Absence - The Greatest Mistake of My Life Honorable Mensions: Harakiri fort he Sky - Maere Hail the Sun - New Age filth King Gizard and the Lizard Wizzard - Butterfly 3000 Gojira - Fortitude Serenity in Murder - Reborn Whitechapel - Kin John Mayer - Sob Rock Thrice - Horizons / East Silk Sonic - An Evening With Silk Sonic
@@METALBIRB Haha yea it's a cheesy fun Band (Soilwork Singers Sideptoject) maybe not for you (verse Chorus) but I'll might have to embarass myself on Stream suggesting it
@@METALBIRB Yea he is a hell of a Guy… Have u heard Stoort Neer ? Calles (Humanitys Last Breath, Vildhjarta) own project .. He has also write the songs for Reflections EP 2021
Kostolom was my fave album, closely followed by lifeblood. These 2 bands are changing the deathcore scene. Going to make a prediction that shadow of inents new album will be making an appearance for the next awards.
Cool list man. I'd say some of my favorite albums in a not specific order are Jinjer - Wallflowers, Chevelle - Niriatas, Alien Weaponry - Tangaroa, Trivium - In the Court of the Dragon, BTBAM - Colors II, Mastodon - Hushed and Grim, Gojira - Fortitude, Slaughter to Prevail - Kostolom, Twelve Foot Ninja - Vengeance and maybe a few more, but these are the ones that I can think of by now. And I would add some honorable mentions like Spiritbox - Eternal Blue, Dream Theater - A View from the Top of the World and Leprous - Aphelion, since for me these albums didn't get to my favorites of the year because I didn't find every song interesting but still I like some of them.
My personal top 10: 1. Landmvrks- Lost in the Waves 2. Ice Nine Kills- The Silver Scream 2 3. Wage War- Manic 4. Of Mice and Men- Echo 5. Jinjer- Wallflowers 6. Darko US- Self-titled 7. Sentinels- Collapse by Design 8. Slaughter to Prevail- Kostolom 9. To the Grave-Epilogue 10. Whitechapel- Kin
Yay we had the same number 1. I love them. So much so I named my recent doberman puppy Vildhjarta. Also I've heard the guitarist pronounce it as Villy Arta My other fave was Leprous

Oh and Happy New Years to you too man!
my personal top 10 (very hard to rank)

Surprised it took me so long to find a knocked loose mention in the comments lol great list 👍
A tear in the fabric of life is goated
ERRA and Spiritbox tied for AOTY for me
VILLLLLLLDYAAAAAATAAA
Kinda surprised to see Rivers of Nihil so low on your list with you being such a prog metal fan. I'm a huge prog guy and that's my AOTY without a doubt. I get that it's a somewhat divisive album, but it hooked me instantly.
Agreed, well actually Eternal Blue would be my number 1, the work is a close second
Hey, man. Has anyone told that you look exactly like Russian nhl player Nikita Kucherov? To be honest clicked on the video only for that reason but stayed till the end and loved it, thanks!

**Slice the Cake - OttW** Honorable first place, but it wasn't released this year, I just happened to listen to it for the first time this year and it's the only album that competes with Vildjharta and RoN for play time at the moment

Good year for metal and looking forward to next year meeting or exceeding this year, not suprised to see Vildhjarta as #1. It's been a big 2 years for me, going from not liking deathcore/deathmetal to now being addicted, glad I finally came around and I hope everyone has a happy new year!
all hail Blazer Birb! so crazy how you got Samuel L Jackson, Tom Cruise and Vin Diesel! also 66.6k subscribers to end the year is truly metal!
here's to a great year for metal.
hopefully 2022 can match this year in terms of incredible releases, but that's definitely a hard task.
great list btw birb :)
I have to put Lifeblood at the top. Idk; just resonated with me more than any other album this year.
Jinjer Wallflowers is tops of '21 albums.
Vulvodynia - Praenuntius Infiniti got my album of the year, with Stormkeep - Tales of Othertime right behind

7: Ice Nine Kills: Welcome To Horrorwood
8: Jinjer - Wallflowers
9: Slaughter To Prevail - Kostolom
10: Mental Cruelty - A Hill To Die Upon
I’m so confused why people are putting Vildhjarta so high. They are ok at best for me
Edit: My list has changed
1: Whitechapel - Kin - 98.5/10
2: Sion - Self Titled - 9.75/10

You just don't get it, and that's fine. I urge you to keep listening until you do, though. Most incredible and unique metal of all time.
@@vaunted1208 What is so good about it?
@@jaydenjbryant8665 Everything. The guitar riffs, the guitar tone, the bass tone, the drums, the vocals (listen to the instrumental version of the album if they make it all harder to comprehend), the ambience, the overall production, the concept, the artwork, the 80 minute runtime of the album... I could go on and on about every tiny little detail that makes it album of the year (likely album of the decade), but the easiest way to sum it all up is to say that they're simply changing the game, doing things that have never been done and paving the way for the genre.
@@vaunted1208 it’s just very 000000 chug chug to me.
Fantastic list my dude!
Here's my Top 10 (mostly rock and metal, with a couple exceptions):

5. Dying Wish

7. Pinehas
8. Dreamshade
9. Silent Planet
10. August Burns Red (Leveler 10 Year Re-Recorded)
ABR counts? Hahaha
@@jasonlovesmusicreacting882 For me, sure. Leveler is one of my favorite Metalcore albums of all time and the re-recorded version with new solos, heavier guitars (down tuned) and guest vocals was a highlight for me.
For me it was Mastodon’s Hushed and Grim by a wide margin. It just hit everything I love about prog metal and actually told a really moving story too
Their best work since Crack The Skye. For sure.
Absolutely love that album
Man it’s such a good record! I just preferred other prog metal albums over it in my list
@@METALBIRB that’s what makes music so great. There’s so much diversity in even one genre that there’s always something that hits you just right!
Love the list - surprised you didn't rank Vola higher :-) on my own top 10, tried hard to not make it an "all metal" list, and think I succeeded in that :-)
[01] Spiritbox - Eternal Blue
[02] Vola - Witness
[03] Sleep Token - This Place Will Become Your Tomb
[04] Little Simz - Sometimes I Might Be Introvert
[05] Turnstile - Glow On

[07] Deafheaven - Infinite Granite
[08] Halsey - If I can't have love, I want power
[09] Japanese Breakfast - Jubilee
[10] Cassandra Jenkins - An Overview On Phenomenal Nature
My AOTY is easily ERRA self titled, I have never been that impressed or satisfied with an album in my entire life
Very very good final top 10 actually.

I’m definitely checking some of these out 🤘🏼
Wooow im surprised you had ERRA so high. Mainly because it took you a long time to come around to them. I loved it as well. ERRA/SILENT PLANET/SPIRITBOX I think were my favorites. Ill be in Toronto in March to see Every Time i Die/Spiritbox/Underoath going to be a rad show.
Some of my favorite albums of the year:
HORIZONS
Manic
For Those That Wish To Exist
Uncanny Valley
The Bitter Truth
In The Court of The Dragon
So glad to see Erra at 3. I personally believe they need to be number one on every single list.
I'm happy to see so many people enjoyed INK welcome to horrorwood. As far as eps go I loved like moths to flames pure like porcelain.
My AOTY was Dreamshade - A Pale Blue Dot first, with Sleeps Society and Echo second and third.
Shadow of intent - elegy, here's album of the year for 2022
Totally agree with this list. I think architects album was good enough to maybe make the top 30, but I agree that it wasn’t quite 25 material. Sad after holy hell
We all know the best rock/metal albums of the year are Fortitude by Gojira and Aphelion by Leprous 🤘😤
You’re alive!!
In the Court of the Dragon by Trivium was snubbed! Totally worthy of top 25 honors.
#2 for you, top 5 for me, and Every Time I Die.
Broke up 😭😭😭 💔
Colors 2 / This Place Will Become Your Tomb / Eternal Blue
Hi, i recommend you the best latin american metal album of 2021. Radamanthys - The war within . Death metal with melodic elementos. 5/5
Dammmmmm. I’m a metalcore guy but like some deathcore as well. Love where you put whitechapel kin. But for me Kostolom is top 5.
Shocked Kostolom wasn’t on here. For me it’s in my top 10, but not 5.
Yeah I know, it’s a sick record but it got snubbed. Probably my 26th album tbh. So much damn good music this year man lol
You gotta listen to Between me and the Machine by Resolve
I did on twitch! It was good, didn’t love it though
I had to help you get off the 66.6k subscribers
Gojira - Fortitude?? Not making the top 25? That’s madness!!! But have to agree with number 1 here! Vildjharta delivered something out of this world!
Some songs I loved like Amazonia and Sphinx but didn’t go back to it as much as other prog metal releases this year
Phineas
Can't believe Phinehas didn't even get mentioned
Hey I'm glad someone didn't just copy and paste Eternal Blue/Lost in the Waves as their top albums. They were great, but I felt like this year had a lot more dynamic and interesting albums but for some reason they are on everyones top albums of the year. Probably my favorite 2021 top list even if mine looks totally different.
Lost in the waves is actually pretty underrated and eternal blue is awesome but little bit overrated now
YOOOOOOOOO
We had the same album for number 1.
Being Swedish myself, this album really hit the right spot for me because I don't think there's a lot of Swedish bands that actually do harsh vocals in their own language. The cleans come in at the perfect moments and everything about this album is just so consistently good, it flows through so perfectly.
Black veil brides the phantom tomorrow!
your television is burning
Shit man, should dump a bucket of water on it
@@METALBIRB Good that I told you.
Very good list🔥 but where the f*ck is Gojira's Fortitude!? For me it was top 3 best albums of 2021, for sure
As you can expect I'm an Outlier here😉
1. The Night Flight Orchestra - Aeromantic II
2. Crusade - Rising Visionary
3. Vola - Witness
4. Ty Catafalque - Vadak
5. Obscura - A Valediction
6. LTE - LTE3
7. Jinjer - Wallflowers
8. Beast in Black - Dark Connection
9. Dream Theater - A View From The Top Of The World
10. Holding Absence - The Greatest Mistake of My Life
Honorable Mensions:

King Gizard and the Lizard Wizzard - Butterfly 3000
Gojira - Fortitude
Serenity in Murder - Reborn
Whitechapel - Kin
John Mayer - Sob Rock
Thrice - Horizons / East
Silk Sonic - An Evening With Silk Sonic
The Night Flight Orchestra 🤔 always surprising me Laros with new bands
@@METALBIRB Haha yea it's a cheesy fun Band (Soilwork Singers Sideptoject) maybe not for you (verse Chorus) but I'll might have to embarass myself on Stream suggesting it
ERRA!!!!!
Atlas is produced by Buster Odenholm ( Humanitys Last Breath and Vildhjarta)
Its sounds great
Yup Buster is one of my favourite musicians 🤘🏼
@@METALBIRB
Yea he is a hell of a Guy…
Have u heard Stoort Neer ? Calles (Humanitys Last Breath, Vildhjarta) own project ..
He has also write the songs for Reflections EP 2021
Trivium?
Kostolom was my fave album, closely followed by lifeblood. These 2 bands are changing the deathcore scene.
Going to make a prediction that shadow of inents new album will be making an appearance for the next awards.
you're GOD. DAMN. RIGHT vildhjarta is number one
RICK ROLLED
Similar to the top songs list, where is Phinehas?
no Resolve? wow.
Everyone slept on Sentinels.
Awesome record, didn’t love it as much as I’d hope but those guys are doing some excellent things to shake up the metalcore scene
Answer is pretty easy. "Das Album" is the album of the year. No other album even sniffs the replayability of that one.
Incredible job on the rick roll hahaha
thall
Silk Sonic AOTY!
How is Sleep Waker - Alias not on anyone's list lol
THALL!!!
Might wanna check your title
Yeah internet decided to crap out right before it went live. Fixed now!
How do you not even mention Gojira? Fortitude is easily a top 3 album of the year.
No ones gonna talk ab eidola ?
Please check out brand new Balance Breach song "Overthrown"! 🔥😎
Thought thrice would be a lot higher ngl.
Trivium being left off is kind of bull imo.
Metal babe made it awkward today 😂
In my opinion, this list is a thrash because bos and landmvrks are not in the top 10
My personal top 10:
1. Landmvrks- Lost in the Waves
2. Ice Nine Kills- The Silver Scream 2
3. Wage War- Manic
4. Of Mice and Men- Echo
5. Jinjer- Wallflowers
6. Darko US- Self-titled
7. Sentinels- Collapse by Design
8. Slaughter to Prevail- Kostolom
9. To the Grave-Epilogue
10. Whitechapel- Kin
finally another person with Epilogue i personally loved the chaos in that entire album
Yay we had the same number 1.
I love them. So much so I named my recent doberman puppy Vildhjarta.
Also I've heard the guitarist pronounce it as Villy Arta
My other fave was Leprous
