- Right before PlayStation 4 and LittleBigPlanet 3, Sony and Sumo Digital were planning on launching a Free to Play LBP game on PS3 called LBP Hub. It was supposed to offer some free levels from LBP2, and access to the full Creation mode. Then you'd be able to buy additional costumes, materials, or levels separately. The game never ended up releasing, and many elements of LittleBigPlanet Hub found their way into LBP3. But recently a beta build was archived online for us to check out. So let's explore it together! You, me, Stephen Fry, and of COURSE Sackboy. Feels good playing LBP again. Been a long time. I'm a lil' rusty, but I still know my way around this burlap sack.

I adore how this game went from lost media with nothing but a trailer and a couple voice lines to a leaked demo with online support in the matter of like 3 days.
we actually had all the audio and a lot of the content from the game because of the seaside surprise kit in lbp3

Sad that Sony closed LBP game servers on PS3 and Vita without any warning so I sit with unobtainable trophies now.

It's PS3, dude, just hack them. It's one thing to want your shit to be legit, a completely different thing to want permanently stuck trophies.
They didn't close it randomly. Some stupid kids DDoS the server daily until they were forced to close them, enabling LBP2 progress to go through LB3.

Modern Playstation just isn't the same anymore man. Just all blockbusters or big name games nowadays. No more Locoroco, or LBP. or other cool stuff. We lost the recipes. 😭
What about Dreams? Or the indie stuff like Dredge.
Exactly, Patapon, Invizimals and Modnation Racers are gone too.
Now they made mostly those 18+ games, zombie ones, adventure ones, they feels just the same with each other.
If not these, a new remake/remastered.
I just want simpler games to have fun with, i need that Little Big Planet 4, possibly developed by Media Molecule this time, didn't really liked both LBP games made by Sumo Digital.
LBP 2 is still the best game, imho.

Truthfully, they should port Dreams to PC.
It's even more powerful than the LBP engine and is hamstringed by being locked to PS4.
@@LordofSyn They killed Dreams for PC while it was nearing completion, it's almost as if Sony said they want nothing to do with UGC games
I feel like sumo digital is probably gonna keep making them. I thought sackboys big adventure was pretty good. There will probably be a sequel

3:31 most of the stuff from this game was brought to LBP3 in the form of the Seaside Surprise DLC (including parts and the general idea of the level) but a lot of the stuff was changed/removed.

i wish LBP Karting and Mod Nation Racers had a ps5 version, both were basically the same game, but amazing track creator and super good driving.

they were pretty different but both were amazing games. I still fire up my PS3 for those. better than Mario Kart
i remember when i was little i would install them custom good tracks and cars on modnation racers,then they shut of servers :(

It's indeed sad that they shut down the servers for LittleBigPlanet since I never got the chance to experience it myself. LPB was a game made for everyone and has such a nice & chill vibe that not many games today have unfortenatly.
3 still works, at least on PS4
3 is actually down on ps4, and the ps3/ vita ones are able to be online now thanks to beacon private servers

I love LBP so much. I still like to play the Vita version. It's so much fun.

By the way, the LBP community almost completely fixed the build by now, now you can play the whole story modes and dlc and have all of the normal materials, and custom servers like Infinite (which im the owner of) also work, but challenges dont yet since its server side and we'd still have to implement it.

I haven't played a full play through Little Big Planet game due to It's gameplay from what I have seen not really getting to me. But I have played it on the PS3 either the demo or it was a game on it. Cool video. ^_^
Oh what I would do to get back to the old LBP 1 and 2 times. Most fun I've ever had in any game, maybe even in my whole life.

This game was going to get most of it's assets from a server. But obviously, those servers don't exist anymore. That's why a lot of stuff is broken.
You can also apply modifications to this game to unlock locked menus such as community or store (that's hardcoded to be locked), and access custom online servers (Won't download game assets).

if you were to patch the game to include the entirety of LBP2's content, everything would work
the issue is that the game only comes with a subset of the LBP2 content, and everything else was expected to be downloaded from now (obviously) dead servers

I hope they do a LBP collection when LBP1 hits 20 years old and that it has all three games cause those were my childhood of gaming, and imo the previous two are much better than 3, I think 2 is by far the best

9 year old me would have probably cried upon hearing this, I remember being stoked for lbh then they announced lbp3 and I completely, and I mean completely, forgot about lbh. I remember watching the trailer like 30 times too out of sheer hype

I grew up playing LBP alot of the people I met on it we all drifted apart by the end of lbp2 and only 2 moved over to lbp3 but we all didn't stay on it longer than a month...
LittleBig Planet 4 should have been the pack in game with the PS5.
Or Sackboy Adventures. But I think LBP4 should be bigger then a pack in game, so we will see it in the future. Or maybe pack in ps6 game
Maybe a rogue platinum journey is interesting of online games that now have their own custom online stuff.

I think the main issue was this was a little too early on before the live service game genre really took hold and also this would have been when Media Molecule started development hell for Dreams which it’s own story.

I'm sure a FTP version of Little Big Planet would do crazily well were it released on PS5 today.

I'll say this once again but we really did take the 7th generation of gaming for granted. They can not and will not make games like this anymore. They lost the technology and passion for games like this.

damn, seeing the Marvel pack and POTC pack brings such regret to me and missed opportunity i remember before the last big sale PS3 had they still had the Marvels packs all 5 of them for a discounted price and POTC
Speaking of the cross controller pack, I tried to play it but it doesn't seem to be able to connect to my Vita at all. If anyone figured out a way I'd love to know how you did it :)

So i have this prototype myself with everything unlocked, unfortunately buting levels for littlebigplanet 2 doesn't unlock them in hub, but it is possible to hack the hub prototype to unlock everything
I really hope they fix the servers, i have a huge project I wana get done with my friends
It looks like they borrowed a lot of LBP2's assets and functionality to build what they had.
It's cool to see what they were going for and I think it's fairly apparent that this got reworked into LBP3. I just wish they were transparent about it instead of playing coy.
I'm pretty sure this wasn't reworked into LBP3 (at least, the launch LBP3) since there's at least one build of that game that predates the LBP Hub one.

LBP Russia was part of the beta due to being a fan site for the Russian LBP community. Their NDA finally expired, which is why the build is now accessible.
