My solar panel system was installed by Titan Solar. I've always been very unhappy with my decision to go with Titan Solar. First, they promised my system would be installed within 30 days. It was not. I think it was installed approximately 6 months after I signed the contract. I was very upset about this. Then, they ruined my downspout and french drain system as they installed the system. After that, I've generally been dissatisfied with the performance of the solar panels and the amount of money they promised I would save. Lastly, their customer service department is basically non-existent. There's nobody that can help with any of these problems as you run into them. I've always felt like I made a HUGE mistake going with this company.
This is exactly what I have experienced, word for word. You are not alone, my husband and I experienced the same thing. We just had our panels cleaned, and the cleaner found a missing tile. Lets just say I'm sure that they caused this ...... grrrrrrrrr
Holy cow, this is shocking. I had solar surge connect me with Titan to put in my 18 plus kilowatt system, I live where their headquarters is. For the largest one to go bankrupt is absolutely insane
Yes it's a real shame. I recommend SolarDetect for ongoing maintenance and support: www.solarinsure.com/solar-insure-monitoring-and-warranty-service
My last contact with Titan Solar was in August of 2023. My solar system has not been up to par as to what the salesperson had sold us on, my average power bill is anywhere from $100 and up and I still pay to the loan company $200 a month. I was having Titan solar investigate this and they never got back to me. I feel I have been mislead and now I don't have any support for my solar system. Not sure if anything can be done but it's worth a shot. Thank you.
I hear that I have the same problem and now I don't know what to do.
Same here, I have complained for the last several years and kept getting the response "everything is working fine" NO IT"S NOT, I still high APS bills and NEVER any credits
Well, found out about this today. 67 Panel SolarEdge system installed by Titan in 2019. System is currently operating well and Titan is no longer. Now I'm getting more involved on the monitoring of the system and looking for another maintenance/installer for the system as I do plan to get batteries soon.
Their customer service and install team was HORRIBLE! I’m in AZ and had them install through Sunrun! I had over 30 holes in my roof. I thank God that there was a report just after install in 2016 showing all of the damage. Nobody from Titan followed up. And I didn’t even know about it until I had a major roof leak 2 years ago. Holes, black mold, roof exposed etc. Thank Hod for that report, Sunrun took care of replacing my roof. Now I am dealing with my system not working since beginning of May, an inverter issue that needs to be replaced! I’m still waiting for Sunrun to come out on July 1st! Just a horrible experience!
Titan went under because the people who operated in on Titan did not come from the electrical trade. They simply found a qualifier to hold the license. If you’re not born in the trade with a couple of decades of experience, you have zero idea on what it takes to manage land labor, and capital. do you have no idea what a craftsman is. You have no idea how working men think and operate. In addition to that, running a bona fide electrical companies extremely expensive and there are tremendous risks to take. Going forward it will be the small shops that reign. More big companies that install solar will be exiting as well. They’re overhead is just astronomical and they cannot compete with the small shops. The big companies will attempt to, however, which will only expedite their exit. If you’re looking for solar as a solution for your home or business, don’t speak to a sales person, speak to the contractor.
Everything he mentioned will effect all business, especially small companies. Because the company has to fund the entire project before getting paid with no interest on the money
@@TheFatman819 improve or eliminate the utility and permitting delays and installers will see a 2 day turnaround on their working capital.
You hit the nail right on the head.
@@s.lionelmcauley4455 I don't believe in that metering I have chickens does That mean I can take the eggs to the local grocery store and make them buy them from me? So why should I electric company be forced to buy electricity from a consumer.
I saw this coming from the day I signed the contract!! The salesman was extremely misleading and deceitful. I didn’t necessarily care about going green but he told me that I wouldn’t have a power bill anymore with Duke but that was a complete lie. I didn’t even get a big enough system to cover my electric costs and after I discovered that they said they couldn’t put anymore onto my roof. Now I’m stuck paying $300 a month for the system and a power bill still!!
My story exactly!! Im paying double now. It is summer and now my bill is sky high and also paying on the panels. What a waste of money!!
Me too he forged the electronic signature and was shady.
I installed a device in 2020 with titan solar power in Florida, I searched and decided on them because they had quite a few good reviews and AAA in Florida looked good. I educated myself before making any decision.
Even so, they deceived me with the tax credit. I went through a lot of work and fights to be able to activate my panels. I am very disappointed with all this and I am not surprised that the closures are horrible. I will lose my warranty and only the first year several things already broke I do not want think about 30 years...horrible
Titan was not the largest installer of residenital solar ever. Sunrun is the largest installer by a mile. The list from Solar Power Magazine that you cite, is not a researched or vetted list, it's just a list of companies that submit their information to the magazine. They will publish almost anything that is submitted to them.
Exactly
SunRun is the biggest and most financially secure.
I saw this coming for a while. There were too many hands in the glove as the Thunderbirds song said. And too many fingers on the trigger.
I never wanted grid tie because it would not make sense in the long term. I have “ free at night “ plan in Texas now but don’t expect it to be available long term. As grid scale batteries are installed along with the massive solar farms, there will be ,not just peaker plants, baseload plants that become obsolete. These plants have to run close to capacity and can’t ramp up and down rapidly so they need dump loads at night.
The best strategy is as Joe mentioned toward the last . A DIY ,paid for with cash ,self-consumption,small system that can be scaled up as you have more to invest. Another advantage of this is its portability if you decide to move to another house.
I've noticed that most of the solar installing companies here in the central US in my area are diversified, they do several things like roofing, siding, and solar so that they always have work to do in order to keep the company running and their employees are busy and paid. Just not enough Solar jobs alone to keep a business running.
I have a 20kw/52 panel ground mount/32kwh battery system that was installed in 2022, but due to issues with the fact that the installers didn't install everything correctly, it wasn't turned on until a year later. But they reported that the system was installed to the financing company and was being billed. Titan did send reimbursement check, only after I raised holy hell.
It failed 3 inspections until they got everything installed correctly. I tried to be amiable during the install. I wanted the panels installed at 30 degrees, but they installed them at 20. My power consumption is in the winter.
After fighting back and forth, they finally sent a team last October to correct. They kept insisting that it didn't need to be 30. But the contract was 30 and I held them to it. The team broke one of the feeders going back to the inverters (200 ft) and didn't report it. I didn't notice the system was operating at 50% until almost a month later. The broken feeder wasn't known at the time. They sent someone out again as said it was a micro-inverter that had to be ordered. It wasn't until the sent a 4th team in last January that they discovered that the issue was the broken feeder. They found 6 splices in the wire. When the October crew tried to fix it, they only pulled the new wire half way and figured they were done and left.
EVERY SINGLE TIME I HAD TO CONTACT THEM FOR ISSUES. And each an every time they tried to make it seem like it was me. I have all the emails. I asked them multiple times how it is I, the customer, has to contact them when there is an issue and why I have to fight so f'ing hard to get them to fix it.
Anyway, this only scratches the surface of the issues I've had with Titan. I'm just glad they FINALLY got most of the issues taken care of before they closed. I would never touch the system because of warranty. I only found out about the closure when I found that one of my inverters stopped working last week.
I've installed a number of remote solar sites myself. I didn't want to do such a large system myself. But now what?
Titan Solar Power installed panels on my new build in late 2021. They admitted to breaking roofing tiles and came back to replace them. The home inspection revealed caulking on tiles via drone images. It took six months of back and forth communications to get that resolved. Now this bankruptcy has happened!
Solar Edge Monitoring sent an email today notifying me about the bankruptcy, and offering warranty registration since they are the company monitoring the panels since the beginning.
I certainly didn't see this coming.
Keep in mind that solar edge only warranties the inverters and they won't cover labor or the panels themselves or any of the racking, wiring, or other parts of the system and the labor to repair. They basically will only replace the inverters for you and make you pay for the install.
Yes, i was told this today by solaredge @tangyspongesauce
I've been waiting since December to hear back from Joe about our conversation and his proposal
Unless you’re not in the Solar industry you’ll know Sunnova is to blame for changing the payment schedule and their DHB charges. That’s what killing contractors out here. You need to have deep pockets to stay in business to wait for that money that will eventually get paid out.
I’m in Houston TX. I’ve got 70% solar on my home from Titan. So now that they are out of business, where is my warranty???? How do I service my system if something goes wrong??
Unfortunately you will have to find a 3rd party perform you service. The products are still under warranty through the manufacturer. If you need a company, Texas Electric and Solar are owned and operated by a master electrician and has 15 years of experiences in the solar industry. Good luck with whoever you go with, make sure you do your research.
Titan Solar installed my panels in 2018. Have had 1 problem with the inverter, which they fixed immediately. No problems right now but am curious who I should reach out to if I do have a problem.
I also had Titan Solar and have had problems with the system. They allowed the local power company to dictate on how and when they want the solar to run. And that how my battery back went bad.
Worked with Solar Surge for design and contracting with Titan. Install (i.e. their non-Titan subcontractor) in 2022 in the Denver metro area. Have LG panels, IQ7+microinverters, IQ gateway. Has worked well but will I now be out the ongoing cost of using somebody like Solar Insure to maintain system.
I am a Generac generator and PWRCell dealer located in Indiana. After Pink Energy filed bankruptcy I inherited over 30+ systems locally. I have performed all warranty work and got these systems online. They were misled and lied to about solar. Some of them will never see the return. However, all of their systems operate properly since we took over. We are now offering generator integration into the PWRCell system. Make sure if you are buying solar you really read the fine print. Currently all the systems I am sizing are showing a return for people between 13 and 16 years with out batteries. We no longer have net metering in Indiana.
We should pay more money to get a warranty I already paid for!
That’s insane !
We paid it off in full
Told I would have to upgrade my breaker box. I was ok with extra cost. Then told upgrade not necessary. Every time my front a/c unit comes on breaker trips. My local a/c service provider found wire no completley connected. Could have burnt house down. Worked for awhile but now trips everytime comes on.
Many solar installers are going bankrupt. The NEM3 metering may be an issue, but in general a lot of these solar companies are not well run. This is not a new problem. As an example, I cite Petersen-Dean, previously one of the largest installers. They went bankrupt in 2019/2020 before NEM3 existed so that was not the issue. And in bankruptcy P-D stranded hundreds of customers, installers, and anyone in their sales channels.
We have Tesla solar, which we love and has largely eliminated our annual electric bill. But we are concerned about their long-term commitment given their financial situation.
The market will evolve over time. The solar installer cowboy is fading into history. TSLA contracts out all the work these days.
I agree most of these companies do not have good management
Good luck getting Tesla to service anything. Bottom-feeders
My system was installed by Sunrun in California. I've had no problems. What piss me off is how the government let the power companies change the net metering. You had to hurry up and get the system installed are you wouldnt get the 1 to 1 nem rate. I remember hearing about people who system was installed early getting grandfathered in and all that, but didn't really understand it all.
Titan completed my system just before the end of '23. Not happy to have an orphaned system but at least they went under after the project was completed.
Me too, they completed it in Nov. They left the side of my house looking like crap with boxes hanging and wires exposed.
@@irenethemarine They did good work on mine overall. My complaints would be lack of communication. There wasn't a single point of contact for the project and it was very hard to get a phone call returned.
The problem with that is when the panels aren’t functioning properly you will end up paying more on your electricity bill while still paying your solar bill. Our panels have been inefficient for over a month. I called titan and they were supposed to send someone out to get them up and running again like they usually do when this happens, but no one has come out yet. So we’re paying a full electric bill as if we didn’t even have solar panels plus our solar bill.
@@nicolet9215 Yes, with a lease that is one of the downsides. The system Titan installed is an add-on to a Tesla (Solar City) system installed 11 years ago. That is on a lease and there hasn't been a single hiccup in all that time. Hoping the Titan system holds up as well.
I bought my house in Dec '21 with the solar panels already installed. Yesterday, I discovered they haven't been producing any power since April 19th and my bill has skyrocketed. Today, I found out Titan Solar Power did the installation AND they've closed their doors. I have no idea who to contact now.
I purchased our home with Titan Solar Power panels.
I'm still trying to find out who will service our panels based on the 25-year warranty
Can not get through to Solar Edge
This is crazy
To assist my sales they wanted a minimum of 20 sales per month, it took them more than a year to do an installation in Alamosa Colorado leaving me with 35 sales without installing,
And by the time I found another company, the clients were already frustrated looking for other solutions, it was difficult for me to get them to accept the proposal of another company.
The solar company that installed the panels on my first house went bankrupt, never even knew until i tried to look them up one day as they never reached out. thankfully i didn't have to replace my roof before i sold
People use Enphase instead of SolarEdge all I can say. It will save you thousands from service calls.
Why? Please explain
Replacing those inverters keep me busy and paid. 😊
I will never use Emphase. I have almost 1000 installs all with Solaredge.
@@kevinkennedy243 ordering my panels and racking, 15.2 kw system, lower desert California heat so which inverter should I buy? I was thinking sol ark or 18kpv, 3 strings, 6000 watts each.
@@d.pollard5962 I personally would do 2 Solaredge 7.6 inverters. But Sol Ark is a good option. Emphase just loses it’s efficiency in high heat as will everything else solar included. With optimization you start at 99 plus % then you can keep it out of the heat. Cooler anything works better, no matter what it is. Micros in the hottest part, the roof is dumb. Plus you lose 6-9% of the power in high heat conditions with mirco inverters.
Widespread installation of solar panels is good for the country and good for the planet.. but it requires the cooperation of power companies, for whom it is in their best interest to stop it.
1000%
Yeah, good for the planet. Tell that to the people who live next to a solar farm that: destroyed farmland and was destroyed by hail and released all kinds of toxic crap in to the ground water. It takes the cooperation of STUPID people.
Joe...I purchased a Q-Cell system through you/installed by Titan Solar here in Virginia Beach back in April 2022. Very happy with the system...no problems. Some questions. Dominion is my utility provider. If they change their net metering arrangement, am I grandfathered in on the one to one trade relationship? Another question is service. I realize my Titan Solar guarantees are now gone, however, does that apply even to the Q-Cell solar panel itself? In other words, Titan may not be around to do the repair, but is the manufacturer still on the hook for the guarantee? Last question, any suggestions on who I would use to service the system here in Va Beach, should it be necessary? Thanks Joe.
Hi Joe. Your net-metering agreement should be good for the full 20-year term. My recommendation is to sign up for Solar Detect for ongoing system monitoring and maintenance. www.solarinsure.com/solar-insure-monitoring-and-warranty-service
I had Titan solar install my system in Feb 2023 I got PTO, now Titan done flew the couple with my warranty and I am sure I am S O L!
I am one of those folks that you sold us 2 Franklin batteries and installation by Titan Solar
Where is the link for diy materials?
Thanks.
Hi solar Surge, personally I've don't have solar but I work for a solar company which we provide the service of helping over customers which their original installation company went out of business. During this week we have received multiple calls from customers talking about Titan solar. I had no idea that Titan solar was the biggest solar company in US. Makes me think about if my job is at risk with all of these solar companies going bankrupt.
I honestly wouldn't be that worried if I were you. I worked for titan and can tell you that our biggest problem was our reputation. We were big, but our customers hated us. We used 3rd party sales groups instead of selling directly, so we had limited control of what these sales people did and said. It was not uncommon for the homeowners to get told they would be getting a system far more capable than what they actually got. Then because the top leadership of titan was so poor, we wouldn't correct these issues nearly well or quickly enough.
I would say definitely take a look into the company you work for and evaluate what's going on there, but don't be afraid for your job simply because of Titan's shortcomings. It was a very poorly run company right from the top.
Sorry to seek possible alternatives aside from the video sponsor, but just want to do my due diligence - any other options you'd recommend to look into in addition to SolarInsure/SolarDetect?
I have titan. I have been trying to get my panels detached to get my roof replaced from a hail damage. It going on over a month to get someone on the phone to get my questions answered
Good time to be a DIYer, panels and batteries are cheap as ever!
Unfortunately I’ve seen lots of DYI people with beautiful systems that were never turned on. Looks great just seating on the roof, but def no benefit
@@gabrielr1988
Yea, I find that hard to believe. That's exactly what one of the solar company salesman told me.
Actually the OPPOSITE! Much more expensive to do it “yourself”.
But hey if you are an electrician and have money then go ahead and do it
DIY hybrid with batteries .
Not forth selling back. .and they also dictate how many panels you can have .
Yeah big no thank you on that
@@gabrielr1988 I'm currently doing research for what I need to set up to do net metering. It's pretty involved, I'll be honest. But I'm not discouraged, the savings are huge. My power company even has a $6k rebate hooking up a 9Kw system or larger.
Awe, man!!! Titan did my original solar panel installation! They did a great job. Well, there goes the warranty. 🤦♂
Check out SolarDetect for ongoing protection: www.solarinsure.com/solar-insure-monitoring-and-warranty-service
There is a legislation/regulatory vacume where solar is concerned.
I’m a homeowner who already paid Titan a $2,000 down payment and then $22,000 that was due when permits were received. Install was supposed to be next week. What happens now?
Get in the lawsuit line up and be blessed if you get pennies on the dollar.
My question is, what can I do if the solar panels were installed but they didn't pass the inspection. I have the system installed but can't even use it. I received the notice that my payment starts this month, but I can't even use the system. Any suggestions on what I should do?
I have had my solar panels for 2 years now through Titan out of Arizona. I am in Colorado. They were good to me. We have a monitor. When theres a problem, someone from Denver comes and fixes it. In May they came because high winds blew a corner piece off. Last week on the 12th my invertor closed down at noon. My financing through Good Leap. Now need to find someone who can fix my invertor. If I am paying every month, I need it fixed and I need some answers.
Your lender is not responsible.
I'm thinking about stopping payment to the bank. Why am I paying for materials that are not warrantied
I have an unfinished job for bird netting around my panels I already paid Titan for. I now don't want to pay another company to finish the job.... This is unfortunate.
Predicting this for almost a year. The dealer/subcontractor model is broken. The only way to succeed long-term is to be vertically integrated and also to maintain margins.
I agree. I think the solar business model will look very different on the other side of this meltdown. I expect other large installers with business models similar to Titan will fail in the near future.
So I am in Utah and unhappy with Titan was told I get $ 26,000 tax credit and did not get, I am also paying more on my loan than my power bill ever was. I need help. Also took them three months to install, after they said it would de installed. Also who do i turn to now?
My solar company called me up a couple of weeks ago and told me they want to swap out some underperforming modules for new better ones. Like the video says, it's better to think of it as a long term relationship. But as a consumer, I have no idea how you know a company will be around even 10 years from now.
It's so hard to tell. Titan was in business for over 30 years and they still failed. This is going to be like 2008 housing crisis in my opinion. Lot's of business failures yet to come. I suspect the next batch will be the solar finance companies.
It is really about how the system was installed. Lots of local installers in every state will help fix and maintain at a fraction of the cost.
What is your company doing then? I know when I got my system TSP was the hub of the agreement if you will. A different company did the actual install and they are still in business thankfully. So far I haven't needed to do a service call.
I recommend SolarDetect for ongoing maintenance and support: www.solarinsure.com/solar-insure-monitoring-and-warranty-service
Thank you for the post mortem. The law has to change so there is zero delay from the local utility to switch on and access the local grid services The Australian experience is worth drilling down on, Joe.
Installers should live within organic growth principles and avoid paying fees to source work.
Cash is king, are there discounts available for cash business?
Yes, there should be significant cash discounts available now. I would estimate 20-35% lower price.
ACDCev has cash discounts on their DIY kits. Battery storage is almost half the cost of Bluetti and ECO. You need direct relations all the way back to China for ultimate battery warranty. 100% of battery energy storage systems are made in China. ACDCev has had those relations with China factories since 2009
You originally connected me with Nationwide Solar of Vancouver, WA, in June 2021. What is Nationwide's status regarding warranty, specifically in the "remote" area of Bend, Oregon? The system has operated satisfactorily after a rocky two-year installation period. I have had no warranty issues since. The silence is deafening?? Does Solar Insure appear to be available in my "remote" area?
I believe they do. I recommend reaching out to them directly to see if you can obtain the warranty.
Is Solsr insurer available in Nevada? Please let me know
Government encouraged everyone to get as much solar as quickly as possible, with no plan for making sure that people didn't get ripped off, and that companies were sustainable.
Just another reason I DIY my own system!
Imagine Titan is now Solar Insure 😮
I had my system installed by Titan Solar in 2021. Had an issue with an inverter last summer which Titan replaced at no cost to me. So now what happens if something fails? What recourse do we customers have? Where can we turn?
Your best bet is a SolarDetect warranty.
How is it selling solar in Nevada vs California???
Well, that sucks. I chose a big one to avoid this. So much for that.
Titan Solar was HORRIBLE!! I live in Houston and purchased my system from them 2 months after purchasing my house. My system was installed and did not work for the first year. I had to pay a monthly solar payment and an electric bill even though system did not work. Finally they only came out to fix it once I reported them to BBB and the attorney general. I was promised a system that would cover my monthly kWh usage and was told I would not have an electric bill over $20-$50 a month if that. But now with system working it still does not produce like I was told and I pay $460 a month payment towards the solar and still pay $200 electric bill on top of that and I only use 2000-2700 kWh a month in the summer.
@nickmeadors9734 unfortunately I guess it had happened to many of us, I am paying more with solar and I was without, my bill increased during the summer. I also reached out to them and I got no answers, I written emails and also did not got any response….
We bought through Titan in April of 2023. The system is still not operational and our payments through goodleap start in September. How in the world is it legal to pay on a system that never got activated? I’m so done with solar all together! Does anyone know if we are obligated to pay for a system that isn’t up and running?
I recommend reach out to GoodLeap and see if they will send another contractor to finish the job.
Hey I got solar installed from there my experience was horrible took them more than 1 year to finish the project now idk what's gonna happen to the loan I have please help
Speaking of 4 for 1 in solar storage from the utility companies, are there any companies that do 1 for 1 exchange?
Yes 1-for-1 net-metering is still popular on the east coast and midwest. However, given what's happening in California, we expect 1-for-1 to go away in the future.
Its just crazy I say go cheap, get solar panels without financing and install a battery do not go through your electric company get an electrician and have an outlet placed in various areas or just run the fridge and minor services. If need be use the solar contractor to size the system needed to run your home.
How about 6 to 1, they pay me 1.7 cents a kwh, and when i have to buy it from them they charge me 11.4 cents a kwh.
Hmm what program is this. In MA its 1:1 credit
Titan is not the largest installer in the US.
I'm sure like most big companies, the executives did everything they could to keep the company afloat like cutting back on their salaries and compensation. I'm sure they were solar enthusiasts who saw the company as more than just a vehicle to become rich. I'm sure they were heartbroken thinking about all the customers they were forced to abandon. Oh well, I feel sorry for them but I'm sure they'l figure out another scheme to help customers. Maybe they can form another company to take over the warranties for a small monthly fee. I'm sure they will manage that cash flow well so that when equipment starts failing down the road, they will be able keep their promise and not just declare bankruptcy again. As you can tell, I have faith that executives are good people who put their customers and employees first.
You know the shakeup here started almost 2 years ago. The old CEO left the company and a new leadership team took over. Looks like they were not able to execute their plan after all.
@@SolarSurge Yes, but did they have golden parachutes? I am an electrical engineer who expects to retire by the end of next year and build an energy efficient, solar ready home in western NC. I would be capable of doing most or all of the installation and maintenance myself and probably be able to specify a reasonably good system also. But I do value expertise in the field. In a recent one of your videos, you seemed to be talking to people like me, competent DIY'rs. What services would you offer to someone like me? Would it be a modest fee and your company would receive commissions from the equipment suppliers? Regardless, I will likely contact you when I get to that point as I have great respect for you guys.✌️
Unfortunately the biggest issue we had that led to this was the executives themselves. I can't speak for all branches, but I know mine was operating about as well as it possibly could have given our limitations from high up.
Wow! I just found out today while trying to call them to come check on my system after MonaLee left it offline trying to install a second Tesla Powerwall 2. Titan Solar had horrible customer service, horrible project management, and almost had to take them to court here in Phoenix back in 2022. I knew they were going to go out of business with the terrible customer service. MonaLee will follow Titan soon. They are as terrible as Titan Solar was.
How would this affect a Lease / PPA
You now own your system 😂
Also who do i turn to now?
More DIY is needed. Just hire an electrician to connect to grid.
Agreed
Unfortunately I think your insurance company would drop you if they found out you DIY. Very high potential for roof leaks and damage.
@@robert2024-r1l They are already dropping people even with "professionals" doing the work.
My grid power provider won't allow it.
This industry is such a hot mess! I still find it amazing in 2024 that every house south of the Mason-Dixon line isn't covered with solar panels with battery storage. The fact that the industry can't make this cost effective with an ROI of less than 3 years, it's simply ridiculous. Greed, it's always greed!
Titan Solar changed the industry for every solar company across the country. Titan operated in more states than any utility company and solar company in the US. Titan also operated differently than your traditional business that i won’t say on here for their privacy. Just know Titan wasn’t publicly traded also each warehouse is not the same for a reason.
I feel sorry for people that got sold a bill of goods, and now have to pay for an extended warranty also. Ripped off twice. So sad.
Facts
All comes down to manufacture #1 and #2 get 2-3 solar companies contacts period .
Choosing the right manufacturer is important but I would say hiring the right contractor is even more important in this environment.
How old is the equipment you’ve had issues with?
What about our warranties !!!!
We are SOL
Sigora Solar installed my system 2 years ago and I had a great experience with them. Unfortunately, last year they folded due to bad management.
Yeah that was another company that tried to grow too large, too fast and they didn't have good control of their finances.
At 03:25 mention of a quadruple payback time is NOT true. That would ignore the face of daytime self consumption.
Yes a bit longer if not 1:1, but not that bad.
Good catch.
Solar resellers remind of the MLM'ers that skip out on the product until it goes belly up or they screw over too many pyramid members. Seems like the solar resellers are on the same page. "This new company is much better"
I’m a vendor who Titan Solar owes nearly 40k. Do you know who I can contact about my outstanding invoices?
Do you know who is in charge of liquidating Titan’s assets?
What court/judge is handling the bankruptcy?
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Titan was headquartered in Mesa, AZ so I would start looking at courts there. However, I don't expect there will be anything left to pay vendors after the secured creditors have their run at the company.
Solar was an outstanding option. Economical and environmentally friendly. But we of course now, as always in the US have this multi-headed hydra of middlemen, all taking a cut but for no discernible value to the actual customer. The other problem is Americans need to return to the idea of paying for goods and services in full at the time of receipt. That would cut out the biggest siphon of money; the banks.
I do like your channel though as your explanations are concise and informative.
I couldn't understand why a power provider would support competition. Every solar install is a nail in their coffin. Inefficiency, incompetent management is no threat when you have a monopoly, e.g., govt. could tax 100% and still need to borrow. Is there a tariff on solar panels? Govt. has made it illegal to capture rain, grow food. Why do we allow it to exist.
WTF?! What if you were leasing from Titan? Does that homeowner now take possession of the panels/batteries/inverters for free? Or did Titan only sell and install the systems?
Titan only sold/installed the system. The leasing company technically still owns the system and they will be responsible for maintenance.
If you are buying solar now days you’re screwed with this price hikes and malpractice from most of the big solar companies
Titan installed my solar.
Dam! I wanted a Titan SUV
So I literally just had Titan install last week…😳😳 Now what?
We recommend signing up for a SolarDetect warranty.
So say I am on a lease and the company that installed my system goes bankrupt as well as the Finance company in this case EnFin. Do I stop my payments and the system is abandon and will not work anymore
😢what I need to know is how to get in touch with Solar Edge who is the manufacturer of the panels wich weresold to me and installed by Titan , I have not been able to do so with the computer . Can anybody help me getting in touch with Solar Edge
I have a number for them if you still need it. I talked to them today. They are not covering the panels unless a service.contracf is signed. It does.not cover labor or materials. Ugggg
They did us dirty , laid us off on payday too
No PTO is getting paid out either. I had 80 hours saved up! 😭
That's terrible... Do you plan to stay in the solar industry?
@@zfucka to be honest, not sure. I do love solar, but this is the second solar company that has screwed me over. Might be time for some change.
Think government direct involvement is a disincentive. If solar so great, it should be market driven. Mfg makes is desirable for consumption. Like any other product, if the price is good and consumer sees value, then it will flourish. As much as solar has advanced, it just isn't competitive to be value for homeowner.
What a shame... they sold systems that they should not have and ripped off thousands of customers.
DIY with used panels is the only way to go. Payback in no time. I blast my AC on full all day long!
Very dissatisfied with Titan..
What is going to happened with our solars that needs to be repair??
I recommend signing up for a SolarDetect warranty. www.solarinsure.com/solar-insure-monitoring-and-warranty-service
Good. Maybe now i can get solar panels for cheaper.
They need to return people money!
There has to be a way to sue them
I paid a lot of money for this crap
SunPower let go 1000 people a few months ago...............derp!
Botched installs. Took money and ran.
I'm a contractor. Let me save you the suspense. You get what you pay for.
Exactly. Solar is no different than any other construction or contracting. You get what you pay for. You wouldn’t hire the cheapest guy in town to build you a house would you?
It is not 4 to 1, more like 6 to 1 to 8 to 1
What????
I'm a home owner, and yes I got solar from titan, all bad, send me some info, so please, all bad,
They need to stop robbing customers and make installs that use battery systems. And only use grid power as needed.
