  • Behind the scenes video of the Hearthstone 3D card - Ragnaros the Firelord.
    This card, along with Ragnaros, Lightlord, were made for Amaz. They arrived safely to him and I hope he enjoys them :)
    Tested a lot of new and interesting techniques while making this card and I'm really proud of how it came out in the end.
    Stay tuned for the next cards, I'll be coming up with some awesome stuff!

      Yep, I wanted to establish my method first, so I can do a making of that doesn't include any fails or experiments, haha.

    mass produce them, in china or something, and sell them for 10€ with the card back or sell just the card back or just the card for 6€ each. You could be rich andmake people happy.

    I was thinking of making some 3-D cards myself do you have any recommendations for the types of glue to use for this? Also when you are building up the layers are you using double sided tape or double sided mounting foam for extra thickness?

    How did you make the particularly shiny holographic looking backdrop of the portrait? The backdrop to ragnaros looks almost like holographic paper/texture. Is there a particular treatment to the paper or card stock used when printing it initially?
    And great job by the way, it looks fantastic!

    • @SunforgeCards
      @SunforgeCards  7 років тому +2

      Hi, glad you like my cards! It's not a special treatment, I just scavenged the foil off a Yu-Gi-Oh card. I wiped the card ink with acetone off the foil, printed the card background on transparent film and glued the film on top of the blank foil.

    • @AlNemec
      @AlNemec 7 років тому

      That's a really clever method. I originally had thought that it would be quite difficult to get the card art to show up properly if it was printed directly on some sparkly holographic paper, but using a transparency on top would really work a lot better.

    How many hours would you think you put in to this? Including computer time making and printing the images?

    • @SunforgeCards
      @SunforgeCards  7 років тому +3

      Mike Honcho 5-6 hours or so, I think.

    Hi. Im Thinking of doing those myself and I have a question, how thick was the plastic you used? And, is small knife for paper innoth to cut that plastic?

    • @SunforgeCards
      @SunforgeCards  3 роки тому

      Hello! Sorry for not replying to you yesterday, I just saw your comments. I did not use plastic. My cards are made out of cardboard or printing paper. The paper is thin, like most photo printing papers, nothing special there.
      For cutting I use an hobby knife similar to xacto knives, made by transotype: transotype.holtzofficesupport.com/en/schneiden-kleben-montieren/cutter-cutting-blades/305/pushbutton-knife?c=187

      @@SunforgeCards Interesting I always thought they were made out of plastic. Hey tell me as an expert, would it work if i used it instead of paper or cardboard?

    • @SunforgeCards
      @SunforgeCards  3 роки тому

      @@NervousOne466 I don’t think so. The process I use involves shaping the cardboard and various other techniques that most likely won’t work on plastic. I’m also not sure about the printing process on plastic 🤔

    • @NervousOne466

      @@SunforgeCards One more question. Are you printing images already on carton ready to cut or on another paper that then u will glue to that carton? Ty

    • @SunforgeCards
      @SunforgeCards  3 роки тому

      @@NervousOne466 at first I was gluing the paper to some compressed cardboard, but stopped soing that, because it was not helping that much and it was making the process way more complex. Nowadays I cut the printed paper directly.
