Rest In Peace William G. Hewitt (Bill) 1966-2023. It was a pleasure watching you through the years even though I am a GM guy and never owned a Power Stroke. Your wealth of knowledge will live on through all that had the honor of knowing and watching you.
RIP Bill Hewitt 10/13/23 you will be missed my friend. Your channel was the first UA-cam channel I ever subscribed to. Thank you for teaching us so much over the years. 😢
RIP Bill. Thank you for everything you taught me over the years on these trucks. Because of your videos I was able to buy a 6.0 with confidence and got many, many years out of it with very few issues. May your soul rest in peace!
So glad I picked up a dealer-proofed 6.0 from Bill. It’s still running like a top, 5 years later. I’ve took mine across the country four times, and use it as my daily driver. Got 21mpg on my way to NC this past weekend. I’ve also been using the Archoil faithfully. Yeah, screw the new diesels; I’ll just revamp my truck every few years or buy some add ons or upgrades and just keep on driving it.
To the Hewitt Family and Friends, My condolences go to out to you for this terrible loss. I was entertained and educated by his youtube channel's videos and learned a lot from him and the fellow maintainers at the PowerStrokehelp maintenance facility. He will be dearly missed. I never met the man, but from what I witnessed, he was a great man, a great educator, a great father, and a great friend to everyone. Sincerely. -pdx650
Rest In Peace brother, I bought my 7.3 excursion because of watching your videos. So much information and you dedicated your life to us powerstroke owners. The legend of Buford, Georgia. I’ll have your family in my prayers brother
I have 248,000 on my 2017 Lariat 6.7. Did have to replace upper oil pan but it cost me about $2500 - and that included a new oil cooler and main seal. No problem with fuel system so far (knock on wood) and truck still feels and runs like brand new. Love it! Oh, it’s been deleted for a while and I stick to only Bucee’s and Sam’s Club diesel.
RIP Bill, I never owned a diesel truck in my life but subscribed to your channel because I always found your knowledge of these trucks fascinating. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family good sir. May you roll coal through the pearly gates! You will be missed.
When the 7.3 DI came out in ~1993, they chewed through injector seals and dumped a bunch of rubber in the fuel filter bowl. Even engines with < 100 miles were skipping or not running at all. All we had to do is replace seals and clean out the fuel bowl. Now, the slightest contamination costs $10K. That is crazy. I love diesels but realistically they just plain cost too much to touch.
The 7.3 di engine came out in mid 1994, in fact 7.3 idi was availble na or turbo in 1993, in 1994 you could get the 7.3 idi turbo and non turbo as well as the 7.3 powerstroke
I bought a 2018 ram 1500 with a 5.7 hemi, and put a small tune and pipes on it. Fastest truck I’ve ever owned, and I’ve owned tuned 6.0s and duramax trucks. Smooth truck, and really cheap to work on compared to a diesel. Have had no problems, trans. Services every 30k and oil changes every 4k. Pulls my 12,000 lb skid steer and 3 attachments, plus car trailer (total weight 15,000) around just fine. Probably won’t ever buy a diesel again.
That is why I keep my 7.3 trucks. IMO the 7.3 is the best engine ford ever used. I meticulously maintain them and still yet to have one leave me on the side of the road. The extra power and creature comforts that come with the 6.7 just doesn't justify the cost...for me anyway.
So sorry to hear of your passing, Bill. I know I speak for everyone here when I say that you will be sorely missed in this community. Thank you for everything you did for all of us. Thank you for being your normal, hilarious self. I kept planning to bring my truck to you, and I was going to come hang out with you at the lake, and learn how to barefoot ski. You'll be missed.
Most of the oil leaks on a 6.7 can be avoided by simply replacing the crankcase vapor separator assy way before getting a code for it ,by that time your making oil leaks and pushing oil past the turbo seals. It looks like this was Bills last video. RIP Bill, you brought so much to the powerstroke community and owners .🙏
OR , they just don't care because fans will buy anything, then there Don't care , Then there's Dodge with every. vehicle they've built in the last 40 years, still on the highway. Jeeps, durangos, Dakotas, minivans And every other model they make., look them up, then How many Ford models that are only 20 years old, that are not on the road anymore? Ford is not the problem. It's their customers, and you can't fix stupid.
I went back to a 6.4 hemi dually when diesel was getting expensive. Good for pulling up to about 17000 safely with 410s. Mileage isnt good and doesnt pull as hard, but cheaper to fix.
And you'll probably run it to 400,000 miles, like My 5.7 hemi durango. which regularly pulls £10,000 trailers as. all wheel drive. and it's yet to be repaired
Dear Ford, Please help me my.$88,000 truck is leaking oil in my.$30,000 driveway. It's embarrassing to be parked across from a 10 yr old Cummins, with cardboard under my truck.
Archoil HAS worked for me. I was told i needed at least 1 injector nearly 10 years ago and im still running that set. Bill is 100% right though, $HIT fuel/fuel system maintenance will abaolutly wreck your 6.7, and these GD things are EXPENSIVE. If you have a new one, youre riding around in a truck that cost MORE than a Z06 Corvette did 10 years ago and the LAST thing you want is to stack a 12-16k repair bill on top of your payments. Archoil is CHEAP compared to that. GET IT/ USE IT and keep your truck alive
The new ones are horrible! Better have some deep pockets to fix those things when they break. I have 380K on my 7.3 right now. When it comes time to get something else I will have to go back to a gasser. Have no interest in the new diesels. Everyone I know that has one is always complaining about it being in the shop. Forget it!
Had my late 99 7.3l for almost 25 years now still runs beautiful pulls 20,000 lbs doesn't get the best mileage doing it. But the only things I've done were the ARE intake and 4-in banks exhaust on the banks turbo stuff downpipe whatever. Super reliable I love the manual hubs I can get about 18 on the highway and it's a 4x4 with a dual cab 6 ft bed
Like anything else, service it, take good care of it, it will last. There are plenty of 6.7's with over 700,000 mi on them and still running. I know of two one local and one back East. I love both my 6.7's and my old 7.3.
RIP Bill, we’ll miss you. You taught me more about PSDs than anyone else just from your videos alone. I hope the business continues and I hope I can get my truck down to you guys some day soon. We’ll miss you buddy
Diesel engines these days are just so choked up and designed to fail that it’s almost not worth it anymore. Older pre-emissions diesels are worth their weight in gold. Today I’d buy the 6.8 or 7.3 gasoline engines for the cost of maintenance and operation alone
R.I.P. Bill, we are going to miss you so much. In your videos you always will be with us. Thank you so much for all you hard work teaching and sharing your experience. I have been watching your channel for over 10 years. As HD mechanic I learned so much just by watching your vids.
Rest in peace Mr Hewitt. I always used to watch your videos as entertainment growing up in my teenage years. Years before I would come to own a Powerstroke pickup. You left behind a profound impact on not only me, but the powerstroke community. Thank you
Bill, on your recommendation I’ve been using the Arch Oil, the oil additive and the injector cleaner additive and I’m at 107,000 miles with my 2020 6.7 knock on wood everything with those items have been great.
i have a c-13 cat motor in my fright liner--- i bought a long block direct from cat that was built in a factory shop--it has 1.2 million millions on it--all i ever have done to it is change one injector on it--it uses one gallon of oil between changes at 15,000 miles--out of our fleet of 65 trucks i get the best fuel mileage--have the lightest truck in the fleet, the highest revenue in a petroleum tanker fleet of 65 trucks---if they cannot make a pick up truck motor to last ,stick to a gas motor--diesel in a pick up is a scam(i have 2008,f-350,4wd,truck looks like new--full delete on a 6.4--only 132,000 miles--will last me another 10 years easy...) have been using archoil products for a long time, only in the pick-up
RIP Bill. You had such a passion for your job. They don’t make them like you anymore. As a Heating Air mechanic, I’ve learned a lot from this channel and how in depth you got with the vehicles.
To all at Power Stroke Specialty and the Hewitt family, I am so sorry for your loss. Though I never met Bill, I had dreams of one day finding an old 6.0 and taking it to him to get refurbished. I have an old 7.3 and learned so much from him about how to care for it. I watched all his videos and each month couldn't wait for the latest "trucks for sale" edition to drop. I must say I am a little in shock -- it felt as if I knew the man after watching him for so long. I think there are many others like me, and we grieve with Bill's friends and family. May God comfort you during this time. Blessings from Texas.
RIP Mr. Bill Hewitt💔You will forever be missed in the powerstroke community. Your videos and shop have helped so many people over many years. I looked forward to bringing my truck to you to get her dealerproofed. Gone too soon. Godspeed, Sir! You will be missed dearly. 💞
😪I love to hear people when they say. have my vehicle for a year or two or even three, and it's running great, the tears will come. And when they do, you'll no longer be a Ford customer. And when you add the repairs to the price of your vehicle, you'll be pissed off until old age and they throw dirt on your coffin, The one true thing will be you won't drive Ford's ever again. And I mean " Fords." anything....
Rest in peace, Bill. I can't count the amount of times your videos helped me out. I still have the first Ford diesel I ever bought....a 1987 6.9. I have a 1990 7.3 IDI, a 1997 F350 PSD, and a 2016 F450 PSD. I've had at least 6 others that I can remember. Your videos helped me with all of them in one way or another. What a tremendous loss to all of us.
R.I.P. Bill. Your videos really helped steer me along in my journey of looking at Ford trucks. Your legacy will live on and continue to help others. God bless your soul.
Bill passed away 😢. Thanks for all the advice. It really helped my career when I needed help learning as a young mechanic. You and diesel tech Ron really put out a lot of useful knowledge that I used to diagnose and repair trucks when I had no idea what I was doing. May your loved ones find peace in your absence.
RIP Bill. You will be missed. Thoughts and prayers for your family at home and at your second home, powerstroke help. You have helped so many people over the years. Heartfelt thank you.
Bill Hewitt, may you rest in peace. Your memory will live on in every powerstroke on the road and in your videos. Nothing else to say but, Thank You. Thank You for the motivation and the willingness to help others with knowledge.
NO!!!!!!!!! Just heard Bill passed away?! man.......I stopped by his shop just to shake his hand a few years back as I drove through the area. Of course he kinda gave me a sideways eye a bit because I was driving a Duramax, but I told him Archoil saved me from having to put in a set of injectors and I even did a thank you video on my own channel. Man....im in complete shock. The man was/in an absolute legend and his legacy will live on through the community he facilitated and the owners his efforts kept on the road. RIP Bill
Yeah your right. But I don't see everyone beating on there deleted trucks. They also don't pull trailers and basically they have a garage or street queen. They baby them.
As far as leaks, what do you know about replacing the 17+ pan with an 11-16 setup? I'm a mobile tool guy and I service a shop for a large electric utility.. They've found using the older setup with a gasket and different notching to be effective in getting longer, leak free oil pan cycles..
I can’t tell you for sure about the fit, I would think it would work, but from what I hear, the pan with the gaskets is 2011- mid 2013. I recently bought a 2013 that had the upper pan leaking like a sieve. I thought it would be the pan without the gasket glove cut in it, so I ordered a used 2011 pan. When I pulled the one off the truck, it was the one with the gasket. So now I have an extra gasket type pan in my shop. It ended up being a waste of money, but I didn’t want to take a chance!
Deleting a newer 6.7 is the best thing you could do along with a CCV reroute kit to take the pressure off the crank case which causes the oil leak from a clogged filter. Once that’s done and MILD tune installed they will run forever. The CP4 is much more sensitive. Disaster prevention kit will protect your $$$ there
495K on my 2012 6.7. I have always purchased reputable diesel from locations that move a lot of diesel. Never ever use diesel from an external transfer tank, the vent valves allow air to enter the tank which contains moisture, either suspended as water vapor or condensed and emulsified into the diesel. Full weight loss at 200K miles after a failed def pump. New 2015 turbo/retrofit kit at 250K. The oil leaks are a real deal. Leaks started at about 350K. I check and add every week for the past 150K miles. Every seal leaks. I lose about 2 quarts between oil changes. The undercarriage is rust free. $8000 to repair all the leaks, can’t justify it.
man, i cant believe the news, ive been watching these videos for many years now. always loved watching and learning, you were a book of knowledge bill, RIP so sad gone to soon
I’ve been watching you for years. Never owned a PSD. I was almost convinced at times when I was looking but never pulled the trigger. I’ll miss your updates. Knowledge. Humor. The stewardship of veterans and community.
I really hope I heard incorrectly that our dear friend Bill has passed away Oct. 17, 2023. You just don't find wealth of knowledge like Bill everyday, a real loss for our Ford Trucks Community.
Got a 2016 f350 short bed 6.7 I'm original owner. Just drive regular pull a trailer at times. Stock truck 216k on the odometer. System Regen issues and need to be able to easily monitor soot in filter and do a forced Regen if need be. Thanks for the info sir.
I don’t think anybody knows in the comment section, but Bill passed away last month. This was his last video. RIP to a powerstroke legend! When our Shit boxes die Bill and Ron can get them tuned up for us!!!
I just spoke with Bill’s wife. Bill passed away during surgery for a a massive heart attack. What a huge loss to the community.
Thanks for the details. Why they matter so much I'll never know. They do for me anyway.
REST IN PEACE BILL you taught me more about powerstrokes than anyone else and were a pillar in the diesel community. Condolences to your loved ones
Wow RIP to an absolute diesel legend. We all have learned so much for you, and you meant so much to the powerstroke community. Be at peace now Bill

Miss my 6.0. Wish I hadn't sold it.

The fact that Ford has been making engines for over 100 years and there still exists problems like leaky oil pans is just baffling.

Thank You for the motivation and the willingness to help others with knowledge.
Archoil just posted the sad news of his passing on their Facebook page. Such sad news! Thank you for all of your knowledge you've taught us!
RIP Bill Hewitt. You will definitely be missed. Please keep your channel so we can always learn from you.
RIP Big Guy.... you have been so helpful through the years
RIP bill you were a powerstroke og
Just saw the News, RIP Bill. :(
My 2016 F350 Lariat is a pavement queen. Lol. Just 50K miles now, and only drive it when need it to haul something, or pull our Travel Trailer.
Correct! Majority people I know that delete there trucks just want them reliable.
RIP Bill. Love your videos and you were so helpful to me.
I'm sorry to hear of your passing
Your face will be missed.
RIP Bill, fly high brother!
RIP BILL... YOU WERE A REALLY GOOD DUDE
Rest In Peace Bill, thank you for all your knowledge and education on powerstrokes over the years! 😔🙏🏽
Leaks? Do like Harley and Triumph riders do. Put a piece of cardboard under your truck. Change out once a month. You're welcome . . . 😉
RIP BILL HEWITT!!!! Can’t believe you’re gone. BILL IS THE MAN! He’s the reason I got into the diesel game to begin with!
I think I have seen a metal replacement oil pan... if you replace the plastic with metal does this solve the leaking problem...???
RIP bill. I was planning on buying a truck from you next year. Damn I hope your shop stays open, I will support your family by buying a truck
RIP Bill, no 6.4s in heaven
Deleting a newer 6.7 is the best thing you could do along with a CCV reroute kit to take the pressure off the crank case which causes the oil leak from a clogged filter. Once that’s done and MILD tune installed they will run forever. The CP4 is much more sensitive. Disaster prevention kit will protect your $$$ there
How does the CCV cause leaks?
RIP Bro ❤
Rest in Peace, Bill, thank you for what you done for the diesel community 🫡
R.I.P. Bill 🙏🏻
Bill hewitt died on October 10,2023. Can’t believe it. You’ll be missed sir RIP
You just don't find wealth of knowledge like Bill everyday, a real loss for our Ford Trucks Community.
rest in peace. I sure hope bills business can remain running without him. Mikey deserves to be a part of it and hopefully your kids.
Rest in Peace Bill, thank you for all the great information you have shared…
Got a 2016 f350 short bed 6.7
I'm original owner.
