If I could find a pure bred Tibetan Mastiff I would buy a female puppy and raise her with lots of love and care for her entire life. They are beautiful.
I love my Tibitian Mastiff. I wish people would learn about them before posting stupid comments. Their traits go all the way back to the dire wolves. They only blow their coat once a year. The females only breed once a year as they don’t come in season twice a year. They can withstand high altitudes with low O2 content, etc. I live on over 20 acres and have had her professionally train on and off leash. She is loyal and protective and only shows agression if any of the family or animals are threatened by a person or animal.

+Giovani22 Yeah, but this is true with most large breed dogs. Some really large dogs don't mind being penned up, so long as they get out to walk, run, and be a part of some family (human or other dogs) But they ALL need loads of training, activity and love! Lot's of upkeep with TM's...their coats, nails, feeding, health etc....
Actually, the big dogs need less room because they don’t need as much exercise. I own a 17 month old female, she’s about 120lbs and we have a moderate sized yard, she never runs laps or even chases a ball lol just a guardian through and through, amazing breed for protection.
"Bones, fats from meat, barley flour, tsamp-pa dough. They don't have an appetite for any other food." Looks like the dogs have got that guy well trained.
These dogs are absolute survivors. I saw a tibetan mastiff working line (72 kg) very powerful dog that never ate meat and eggs. It only ate porridge made from yak milk and barley flour. Nothing else. He was an absolute aggressive beast. I figured now that he died at age of 15, which is pretty good age. These dogs are very primitive and have very developed immune system. I have not seen a n aboriginal line tibetan mastiff get sick in the mountains. Some people own this dog in southern part of nepal, which is very hot and humid and very less elevation, in this case tibetan mastiff gets sick. In the mountains cold and dry environment with 4000+ meter altitude above sea level, this dog rarely gets sick
What I find odd, is that there's no acknowledgement that bankhar (lit. guard dog in Mongolia) are Tibetan "mastiffs" (which aren't true mastiffs, and unlike most large breeds, live up to 14yrs easily. They were dubbed mastiff by Western Europeans at a time when they believed that their science was flawless.). The shepherds of Mongolia still use them, and there *are* predators there that make them necessary. The breed of dog they use for bankhar is always a Tibetan mastiff, though, due to issues of how China regulates Tibet's activities, the shepherds are starting to bring in Russian ones, which aren't as strong or as smart.
These dogs are awesome!! we get similar breed in Nepal's hilly region. To be precise there are the same breed but impure . For this reason I agree with the guy saying higher we go purer breed we can find at 2:43. We call them bhotekukkur in Nepal where bhote in local language means Tibetan refugees and kukkur means dog. Sad to see the the Tibetan Mastiff slowly been bred away from it's original look and purpose, as more and more Chinese breeders cross them with Chow Chows to give them a more pronounced fluffy Chow look .If you look at old photos of Tibetan Mastiffs they look completely different than the current breed.

I could not believe the commentator did not address the horrific images seen in the Tibetan Mastiff Documentary I have viewed and posted on my Facebook page. It shows thousands of Mastiff dogs abandoned by their owners now that they are not considered a prize possession and not worth much money. A man in the video is trying to help these poor masses of dogs, clinging to each other and waiting for this man to bring them food daily. The Tibetan story and video shows the dogs being clubbed with shovels and skinned while still alive. The man says this makes their meat more tender! I could not stop crying. I hope the Tibetan people stop this horrible abuse of animals who used to be family pets.

+R.R Garcia Papers, and the seller could provide DNA testing to show they are purebred. All that comes at a very high price though. A purebred TM is not cheap.

current tm has a lot of Spanish mastiff blood in them the most striking feature of intwrmixing is of the very large head of the so called million dollar Chinese tmS
They can say it all they want, but 1: a trip to the Tibet is really expensive and can be dangerous and 2: i bet not even 1 person in this comment section (myself included) can affort to buy one of those dogs. And i prefer that instead of doing nothing in a living room or being mistrated by some rich moron, this dogs should stay right where they are, helping farmer and agriculturers in the harsh Tibetan countryside
+Jeffrey Morris Some sort of restraint is absolutely necessary. Tibetan Mastiffs are known to be very aggressive towards strangers and their attacks can be deadly (just think pit bulls, only 3 times larger). If you accidentally walked past one, you'd wish there was a chain on him as well. No need to drag China into every negative comment.
+Mr Awesome pit bulls and rotts are not consumed as meat in the states, but some dogs are just more likely to act aggressive than others, which requires restraint for safety reasons
tune into 7:25 to hear a whopping big lie, he says the dogs cost between 10 to 20 thousand RMB for cheap ones and commercial kennels sell for about 500,000 RMB. That's interesting, because optimistic chinese figures put peasants and herdsman only making about 3,000 rmb per year. so,to put that into perspective he's saying peasants who make about $500 USD a year own dogs worth between $1600 and $80,000 USD. Someone's completely full of shit.
I don't think anyone did any fact checking with this story. I looked up ancient dog breeds and turns out, not only is the Tibetan mastiff not recognized as being ancient with DNA testing, the only Tibetan dog that is considered ancient is the Tibetan Lhasa Apso.
Peasants don't buy their dogs. This peasant lives in no man land and breeds his own dog, in fact the whole village may be breeding and sharing the puppies. 80 grand dogs are the ones you see in Beijing and other big cities. You what mate?
ya man dont be stupid. who the hell buys the dogs. only rich folks who dont have one, might be interested in buying one. The poor farmers dont buy the dogs, they already got the dogs for breeding.
Sheldon Tan i want to go there, maybe i will make a tibetan friend and when im getting back to my country he will give me a little Tibetan Mastiff puppy as a goodwill gift....i promise he will have inconditional love and care
The tibetan mastiff has got to be one of the most overhyped, overly-expensive breeds with the main gimmick simply being its size. Seriously, a dog that has a list of health concerns and is high maintenance should not cost that much money. Let people save that money for vet and grooming bills. People need to understand that bigger does not mean better. Take the American Pitbull for example, which is the toughest and greatest gladiator, athlete, and working dog ever, which was bred and is used to take on and control large animals like bulls, bears, and wild boar. Despite being the toughest, strongest pound-for-pound, and most versatile dogs, American Pitbulls don't get larger than 80 pounds. American Pitbulls were bred as farm dogs that would help and protect farmers from livestock, especially the bulls (bull is even in the name because). If a bull or whatever tried to attack the farmer, the American Pitbull would take it on and get it under control. I have even seen Pitbulls take on horses by themselves. The kangal breed can't hold a candle to the American Pitbull breed overall. American Pitbulls are stronger, more athletic, tougher, more versatile, and are obviously greater gladiators that have been used to battle bulls and bears in gladiatorial competitions (things that tibetan mastiffs have never done). American Pitbulls dominate in strength and athletic sports like weight pulling. I have seen American Pitbulls pull over 12,000 pounds. On top of all that, American Pitbulls possess gameness (something that tibetan mastiffs don't have) which they will go to further lengths to do something or get a job done. And they are proven to have better temperaments than kangals when tested by the American Temperament Test Society. Tibetan mastiffs are better at guarding (which is what they were bred to do), but the American Pitbull has these dogs beat in basically every other aspect. Remember that bigger does not mean better.
For people that think that a tibetan mastiff would just beat an American Pitbull because of how big the tibetan mastiff is, here is a battle between an American Pitbull and a tibetan mastiff - my.mail.ru/bk/synthetic_generation/video/1/441.html They ended up having to pry the Pitbull off of the tibetan mastiff. Like I said, bigger does not mean better. While breeds like the tibetan mastiff are more about quantity (how big they are), the American Pitbull is about quality (ability and traits such as gameness). For more info on the American Pitbull breed - www.dailymotion.com/video/xaf5xb_pit-bull-dog-breed-explained_animals
Guy Says they're not really high maintenance. they shed once a year. they don't eat as much as you'd think. I feed them food like the man in the video and never give them any processed food like kibble. they're very intelligent and don't need to be scolded. They walk with me in formation. Great working dogs

+Sanaa G nice joke , try harder
I like 👍 I want one dog .contact me
This breed is doomed, look at all the dumb comments for this video...that's how many stupid people have these dogs or are at least looking to buy one.
They can say what they want. And they aren't stupid.
@@thehermit8618 They are keeping their dogs chained up, they shouldn't be there at all since people can't care for them properly
@@pauline1072 bro would you prefer they run off then lmao
@@pauline1072 also these dogs can be extremely aggressive to strangers. Restraint is necessary
I don't like this chaining and ropeing of dogs. Chinese don't have the greatest reputation for dog welfare.
+Jeffrey Morris **real Tibetan Mastiffs, as opposed to the smaller, more gentle kind that is more common in the west
+Melody Yao I would be aggressive to seeing they are being eaten in Japan
+Mr Awesome pit bulls and rotts are not consumed as meat in the states, but some dogs are just more likely to act aggressive than others, which requires restraint for safety reasons
Jeffrey Morris Tibet is not China
The tibetan refugge
What's wrong in being refugee? You all are immigrants in India ?
Mastiff fans i'm
i know its important to u for selling mind ur own bussiness
Humare yaha free me milte hai 🤗
tune into 7:25 to hear a whopping big lie, he says the dogs cost between 10 to 20 thousand RMB for cheap ones and commercial kennels sell for about 500,000 RMB.
Wuuu waaaaa
And some people eat the amazing creatures there, ugh disgusting
For people that think that a tibetan mastiff would just beat an American Pitbull because of how big the tibetan mastiff is, here is a battle between an American Pitbull and a tibetan mastiff - my.mail.ru/bk/synthetic_generation/video/1/441.html
They ended up having to pry the Pitbull off of the tibetan mastiff. Like I said, bigger does not mean better. While breeds like the tibetan mastiff are more about quantity (how big they are), the American Pitbull is about quality (ability and traits such as gameness).

Guy Says they're not really high maintenance. they shed once a year. they don't eat as much as you'd think. I feed them food like the man in the video and never give them any processed food like kibble. they're very intelligent and don't need to be scolded. They walk with me in formation. Great working dogs
as far as protection, my female killed a coyote. I guess to each their own
They don’t have many health problems compared to other big dogs
Niece dog
