Toyota Texas is expanding its footprint with a $531 million investment bringing more than 400 new, high-quality jobs to San Antonio. The new on-site 500,000-square-foot facility will be dedicated to drivetrain parts production, further affirming Toyota’s commitment to reinvesting profits in its U.S. operations.
“Our team members are ready for this new opportunity to grow our plant’s capabilities and workforce,” said Susann Kazunas, Toyota Texas president. “They are highly capable, innovative and have a steadfast commitment to our products. We are proud to celebrate that spirit and the long-term job stability the investment represents, and we are excited to welcome 400 new team members to Toyota Texas.”
For nearly two decades, Toyota Texas has rolled out top-quality trucks and SUVs with more than 181,000 vehicles assembled last year. Toyota’s total investment in the plant has grown to more than $4.7 billion.

Hino should build and sell the Hilux Champ for the USA as a small work and delivery vehicle since Toyota is incapable of making an actual small affordable truck.

they did, it was poor cleaning of the debris of the engines, not the design. keep up with the news. A recall and free replacement of the engine is an easy (but costly) fix for Toyota.

Toyota needs to bring back a SMALL truck to North America, and they need to make it AFFORDABLE. Whether it's the Stout or the Champ, affordability will be the key. Toyota has shown that they can keep the prices reasonable with the Corolla and the Camry, so it's not like they forgot how to make affordable vehicles.
They must expand their control on Toyota Usa and its ' management '......

It seems like at least some dealers are starting to realize that they need more affordable options. But they're having trouble getting them from the manufacturer.
The local Ford dealer sends me multiple requests to trade in my Ranger ever week with "special offers" on a new truck (in the mail). They only have base model and Raptors of new Rangers. And the cheapest F-150 or Expedition they have is $80k.

Hino😢 has a couple of newish partnerships for electric trucks. Mitsofuso for class 5 and Hexagon Purus for Class 6+. And I think they developed a class 4 and 5 hybrid by themselves. I’m writing about these non-ICE medium duty commercial plans because the US has plans for mandated emissions that will require electrification. And even if the federal government backs down some of the states may still back new standards. Starting with the lighter trucks that Hino offers. So maybe they won’t be leaving the US, they might just want to wait until they have regulations that give them a technological advantage.
The mineral discovery is very interesting. The potential market value justifies building robots to do the recovery. The technology exists (Boston Dynamics which is owned by Hyundai) is a matter of a short time.

@@pkdude5334 nah. I’m actually considering one. Toyota these days haven’t exactly been better. I mean I’d still choose Toyota but they’re expensive in my area and lack features I need. They don’t offer 360 cam on any high trim vehicle except for Prius. Sonata hybrid limited has 360, parking sensor, blind spot cam, and HUD which is useful to me.

1. New Tacoma so called defective auto or manual thing 😂. It's case of just five trucks and nothing else. 5 out of 55k . thats like 0.0000001 percent of all sold so far. so stop acting like crazy woman who can't accept rejection. 2. GX tundra hybrid sequoia hybrid are very much not effected whatsoever. Last gen Tundra was riddle with massive recalls left to right until Toyota fixed the issues. Overall you are just a online keyword warrior

So with what I’m hearing with all the engine and tranny recalls they have no stock for repairs, and some owners I hear are waiting months for parts, where are the parts coming from for more production? Please show me this “$45k “base model tacoma”. Whoever quoted you that number is tryin to rip you off. You can get a 2wd xtra cab SR. Base truck for $32,995 and a 4wd crew cab SR with Sr upgrade for 38750…
My post should have said “base sr5 model”. The base sr5” msrp here in Florida is $44,997. That is $3k more than I payed for my Brand new 2021 TRD sport 4x4 with a 3.5 v6.

New Tacoma has class leading interior exterior tech features comfort refinement and excellent power performance torque mpg. Overall a proper class leader. Price its charging is absolutely worth. Also anyone can get a non hybrid version TRD sport or TRD off road for 40k or 43k.its actually the hybrid that starts from 47k. but hybrid range starts with the TRD sport as a base model plus the Best engine as well

But hey, if you want to pay that amount for a 4 cylinder truck, be my guest… I’ll be keeping my 3rd gen and enjoying my tried and true NA v6 .
