Happy 2022! Now MOS has a standalone version, I believe. It itself has a few submods (reunited kingdom). Worth mentioning is Bellum Crucis. Cheers from Italy!
Check out Bulat Steel total war, its like Stainless steel, but better in every single way! There's not much coverage on it but there is a good install guide on UA-cam.
I’ve tried all the mods you mention, they are all good but there are 2 that should definitely be on your list: - Bulat Steel - a sort of stainless steel on steroids, lots of detail, lots of secondary insight on the worlds history each year, wonderful detail - Divide and Conquer - used to be a submod for third age, now a full mod on itself. Great detail, quality
Definitively a good final standing and a good video. I'd say for my experience best mods and submods are: Third Age DAC 4.5, Europa Barbarorum II, Steinless Steel SSHIP 0.9.7, Broken Crescent Buff and Shine 1.9, Bulat Steel 2.1.5 Patch 8, Bellum Crucis 7. Special mentions for The Last Kingdom and Invasio Barbarorum II Conquestus Britanniae III, Tsardom TW. The positions really depends on your liking I'd say, but ...hey ... why not tryng all those out ;)?
another excellent choice is the great conflicts. it's in open alpha but it has has very interesting scripts. and covers a very interesting time. of the late dark ages
@@GudeaTW the mod does a very good job of illustrating what the thematic and tagmata armies were like under basil the bulgar slayer. nikephoros phokas ect. I also like the way the mod handles elites making it hard to spam them yet not restricting them to unit caps.
I really wish their was a mod that was basically vanilla but made maps for multiplayer massive so more strategic kinda like rome 2 size kinda like reforge maps in vanilla
Bellum Crucis too! Surprised that it didn't get mentioned, probably the best mod (medieval history mod of course) for Med II. Great to know another name, I should probably try Bulat Steel after I try Tsardoms. Luckily Third Age Divide and Conquer isn't as underrated as the greats like Bellum Crucis (and other mods of the team, like Spicciolati d'Italia and Machiavello, probably the best regional mods of Med II and to try together with the other regional mods of the game) and Europa Barbarorum II.
*That* track from EBII...do you mean Melody of Ruin? Because that one is actually my favorite! I love unnerving, oppressive and almost terrifying songs like that one, and I think it fits quite well for the theme of a battlefield where things are about to get very bloody.
Tnx a lot for this video.. But in my SS I don't have all the factions, such us Grand Principality of Serbia and some others. Can you tell me do you have any other version or what ? My SS is 6.4, with 1.27 bug dix
In vanilla medieval 2, I would go with France first. Good balanced army, good economy, and you can participate in crusades fairly easily. Then I would try Milan or Sicily.
I have noticed that you have The Grand Principality of Serbia in your SS.6.4 preview in the video. What submod has unlocked Serbia for you? I do not have that in my SS 6.4 mod....
@@GudeaTW I installed it, did everything as per the instructions on the TW forum, once i actually start the campaign. The first loading screen for Serbia takes a while, loads it up and.....crash. Have no idea what could be causing it lmao.
From what I remember of playing EBII was the battles were not as satisfying as EB1. Units didn't seem to hold lines and it would be a giant cluster f. Cavalry charge felt underwhelming. And obviously, the pikemen units were a mess. I dropped the game pretty quick.
I think those issues are standard Med 2 issues (imo). EB 2 is nice - I enjoy the field battles a lot! Siege battles are a slog unfortunately, but those can be improved with some tweaks.
You should check out thera: legacy of the great torment, it is a low fantasy mod thats very good. It was completed a while back and isn't being updated but it still works.
In my opinion Deus lo Vult whit his great BB submod, Bellum Crucis and Bullat Steel all deserve a place in an 5 mods for Medieval II to play in 2020 related just to European Middle Ages second half on wich Medieval II is based.

Thank you!
Hi Nik, I'll put it on the list of mods to check out.
I’ve tried all the mods you mention, they are all good but there are 2 that should definitely be on your list:
- Bulat Steel - a sort of stainless steel on steroids, lots of detail, lots of secondary insight on the worlds history each year, wonderful detail
- Divide and Conquer - used to be a submod for third age, now a full mod on itself. Great detail, quality
I love this guys voice! So calming and intelligent
Thank you, I appreciate it!
@@GudeaTW Your very quick at replying to a video you made over a year ago. Nice job!
This video was amazing, thanks so much for making it!!!
Thank you!
Good list!
I could listen to your voice all day
Haha thank you very much, I appreciate it!
Rome 1 & Medieval 2 still better than other total war games even newer ones!
Attila is pretty good
another excellent choice is the great conflicts. it's in open alpha but it has has very interesting scripts. and covers a very interesting time. of the late dark ages
Interesting, I'll take a look and follow its development!
@@GudeaTW the mod does a very good job of illustrating what the thematic and tagmata armies were like under basil the bulgar slayer. nikephoros phokas ect. I also like the way the mod handles elites making it hard to spam them yet not restricting them to unit caps.
Hmm sounds good!
I really wish their was a mod that was basically vanilla but made maps for multiplayer massive so more strategic kinda like rome 2 size kinda like reforge maps in vanilla
Hmm I don't think there is one unfortunately
Great list, everything I'd expected to see here.
Thank you! I might make a new list for 2021 (including some new mods released this year) so stay tuned!
I feel like Boulay steel is more deep than stainless steel now
Bellum Crucis too!
Hey which submod did you download to get Armenia of Celicia, i downloaded titanium but its not there.
I had the HURB submod installed. It is rather unstable, however.
@@GudeaTW thanks I got it and so far going well
Great vid! Hope you get more subs.
Thank you! I appreciate it. :)
*That* track from EBII...do you mean Melody of Ruin? Because that one is actually my favorite! I love unnerving, oppressive and almost terrifying songs like that one, and I think it fits quite well for the theme of a battlefield where things are about to get very bloody.
Great work! Thank you for the video! Keep up the good work! I subscribed!
Thank you very much, I appreciate it!
1- Europa EB
2- Stainless Steel 6.4
3- Broken Crescent.
4-Third Age: fictional (dwarves elves etc)
5- Vanila beyond: bug fixes and QoL
Good list
Great job bro, keep it up
Thank you!
Tnx a lot for this video.. But in my SS I don't have all the factions, such us Grand Principality of Serbia and some others. Can you tell me do you have any other version or what ? My SS is 6.4, with 1.27 bug dix
The other factions (georgia, Armenia, serbia) are in the Hurb submod. Unfortunately that submod is unstable
@@GudeaTW tnx Man, once again
Thera: Redux is great fun
Have to try it
I remember a couple years back i tried installing the Broken Crescent mod, but the download links were dead, so they have been re-uploaded i take it?
I believe they released a new version between then and now, and yes it's available.
Great video , I was wondering if I should buy this game. Seeing all this extra content for the Medieval 2 sold me. Any tips would be really welcomed.
Glad I could help!
Tips about what aspect of the game? What total wars have you played?
@@GudeaTW Rome 2, Empire, warhammer, and Attila
@@GudeaTW what would you say is a good first faction to start as?
In vanilla medieval 2, I would go with France first. Good balanced army, good economy, and you can participate in crusades fairly easily. Then I would try Milan or Sicily.
Hey mate, nice video.
Can you please explain to me how long is each year in total vanilla beyond. Like is it 2 years per turn etc.
I think it's like vanilla, 2 years per turn
I have noticed that you have The Grand Principality of Serbia in your SS.6.4 preview in the video. What submod has unlocked Serbia for you? I do not have that in my SS 6.4 mod....
I have the HURB submod installed.
@@GudeaTW Thanks friend. I was looking for a way to play as Serbia for a long time now!
Yes Hurb is a nice submod, let me know if you have any issues installing it!
@@AleksaShule Anytime!
To me and I've played just about any mod you can think of my top two best mtw mod are stainless steel 7.0 and Bellum Crucis 7.0
Bellum Crucis is on the list of mods to try out! Never got around to trying it back in the day.
Have you ever heard of mode Bulat Steel 2.1.5? Try It.
Hi Shoma, I've heard of it. It's on my list of mods to try.
People play Vanilla Beyond yet here I am playing Total Bananas
I see that Total Bananas is pretty popular... I will check it out eventually!
Considering that mods usually take over one of the DLC files, can you have multiple of these mods installed at once?
mods haven't taken over DLC files in a long time, most are standalone now
For me EB 2 problem is the javelin animation. It's hard to maintain line if your unit break formation just to throw.
The javelin animation is a bit troublesome to manage!
What submods are you using for SS6.4?
In this video I was using the Hurb (historical unit and buildings submod). It is too unstable for me to recommend
@@GudeaTW i saw a lot of factions i dont seem to have on my SS install, like Georgia, kipchak-cumans, volga Bulgars... are those from that submod?
@@GerNiels yes
@@GudeaTW ok thx!
You should check out thera: legacy of the great torment, it is a low fantasy mod thats very good. It was completed a while back and isn't being updated but it still works.
Yeah I've heard of it. Will check it out!
In my opinion Deus lo Vult whit his great BB submod, Bellum Crucis and Bullat Steel all deserve a place in an 5 mods for Medieval II to play in 2020 related just to European Middle Ages second half on wich Medieval II is based.
Hi Adrian - those are definitely great mods (have not tried Bulat yet though). Will definitely be doing reviews, though I've actually had some trouble installing the BB submod (I played it long ago) recently so hopefully I'll be able to fix that.
@@GudeaTW from BB thread
If you already have DLV installed then delete/rename the 'DLV_ext' folder in the game-folder's 'mod' folder first.
DLV:BB requires Kingdoms 1.5.
Full DLV:BB4.35:
www.moddb.com/mods/deus-lo-vu...nced-v435-full
Update to DLV:BB4.36 from 4.3 or later:
www.moddb.com/mods/deus-lo-vu...ed-v436-update
Windows 8, Windows 7 and Vista Users:
If you experience problems with CTDs which cannot be reproduced:
1) Disable UAC
2) Install M2TW to it's own folder e.g. c:\M2
If you already installed it then you can probably just copy (or drag/move) the game folder into the root and rename it 'm2' - Seems to work fine for me.
3) Take ownership of the c:\M2 folder and it's subfolders
To take ownership of a file or folder
--1 Open Windows Explorer, and then locate the file or folder you want to take ownership of.
--2 Right-click the file or folder, click Properties, and then click the Security tab.
--3 Click Advanced, and then click the Owner tab.
--4 Click Edit, and then in the Change owner to box, click your user name.
--5 To change the owner of all subcontainers and objects within the tree, select the Replace owner on subcontainers and objects check box.
4) Extract the contents of DLVBBv4.35.exe to your game folder (e.g. c:\m2)
5) If required extract the contents of the update to C:\M2\mods\dlv_ext
An optional 6 could be the instalation of Western Units 4.0 by Sandy,
www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?640851-Western-Unit-Overhaul-v4-0-(Jan-26-2015),
and then the archer fix for it. www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?805148-Definitive-Archer-Fix-(BB-4-36-WUO-4-0)

I know that it s Your opinion but how Europa Barbarum mod for game about medieval time can be better than history accurate Stainless Steel?
There are excellent mods that completely change the era. For example, one of the greatest mods for Rome Total War is Chivalry Total War, which is set in the Middle Ages.
you should try the mod "1648".it´s pretty atmospheric.
It's on my list of mods to try!
i hate the ones where it always crashes when i enter a battle divide and conquor thera and stainless steel never gave me these problems but the warcraft one and alot of ones with the 4g patch are very unstable i even follwed a video 2 times on them no luck alas :(

I'm so sorry for you... Try to read Herodotus again, it seems that your Herodotus is different from the Herodotus of the rest of the world.
