OK, spent the last month abusing my old uncoordinated, no ear self learn all twelve scales. Rough, then I came back to this and man you can get the worst of us to generate endorphings. Boy did I have fun with this. Thank you sir!
I`ve been a sax player for almost 66 years, but I have always played with dots, and improvising has always been totally confusing to me. I have watched many many UA-cam videos with many different Sax Tutors describing how to improvise, but they always rush through how to improvise and I find that I am more confused. I really like the way that you pass on your ideas in a relaxed way. Congratulations for the way that you explain things. Look forward to watching more videos.
For me the things that makes you stand out from allll the other online sax teachers is that you really care by replying to all the comments and that is HUGE!!! Also the type of content you putting out is simple easy to follow and very effective. I really love the way you show the patterns and then give examples of how to use them. No other sax teacher does this! I been through a lot of online teachers and you are by far the best. Thank you for all the time and effort that goes into making all these super use full lessons. My Monday night jam night is going to be awesome from now on!! 😄
Oh wow, thank you so much, it’s just amazing feedback and really means a lot to me, thank you. I’m delighted to help you and so many other people through UA-cam, it’s amazing and your feedback keeps me motivated to keep going. If there’s stuff you’d like me to make content about please let me know and have a great Jam on Monday 👍🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷
This appears to be the best youtube sax site I have tried. Lyndon is on the same page and what he shows and how he explains everything clicks with me straight away. As an older (lot older) beginner who is self taught, this really helps. Thanks from the other side of the world (Cairns, Australia) 😊
Lynden, this is by far the most helpful video I have watched as a beginner saxophone player trying to work on their improvisation. Please do not stop creating these videos, you have a knack for presenting things in a way that's easy to understand.
@@lyndenblades No problem, Lynden, thank you! I like the idea of sticking with ba scale (in this case D) and working out everything you can do with it! It would be great if you could do a similar video for another one of the blues scales!
Listing out the note names is helpful, but I think what would be even more helpful is to show the actual notations on a treble music bar. Thank you for this video though!
Sound of a sax is clear, cool, and most a relaxing concept. I’ve known Blue scaling for years… added to… “ I like chicken and my wife likes cheese.” Profound but not hard! Thanks for the tips. Martin CommitteeII and III horns- alto and tenor gets it done for me!
Awesome Video Lynden. Quick question on setting up the Tenor backing track from Session Band Soul Jazz Funk Volume 3 set to 70's laid back funk- What setting please... 😄
Thanks Craig, really pleased that it’s useful. Regarding the backing track, everything you need should be here ua-cam.com/video/1dxclcgtJyk/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
Hi Leland, I watched this and was inspired between this and the apps video. So I have a used Ipad on order to work with band sesseions jazz (no android). I am a real novice when it comes to music theory and in my limited sax journey am just beggining to demistify ( at least watching you ) how to improv... So I am wondering if you have any very simple instructions or direction for practicing scales and some of the improv (like blues) that you demode so that I do not get overwhelmed and can progress using your improv suggestions and the app. I read music now and am starting to want to do those kinds of things but I want to start simple with the tool. If not no biggie but I really want to try your methods with the limited time I have and at a non theorist level. Thanks Len
Thank you Len. Yes watch this video and do the same in other keys. Let me know if that helps 🤝🤝😎😎🎷🎷 Why Your Scales Aren't Sticking! ua-cam.com/video/QPOeNWJchhs/v-deo.html
helo, the strategy is great. but what if the chord progression is not only 2 chords like the backing track in the video lets say a famous I vi ii V. this strategy still works? thank you
Hi there, thank you for your question. This strategy works well over a blues but won’t work so well over a 251 or other more complex chord structures. I will be creating tutorials on other chord structures including 251’s in the coming days and weeks. If there’s anything you’d like to see specifically then please let me know 🤝🤝🎷🎷
Hi Chris, I’d have to broadly say no because in some cases it won’t work but if you’re really skilled with using it you could certainly try and make it work!
hi Lynden ...just subscribe to your video...find them very enlightening...I took your advice and downloaded soul jazz funk vol 3 ...I wanted to know how you set up the same track that you have on this video...thanks for your assistance... Dale G
Hi Dale, thank you for reaching out! Have a look at my video list, there’s a short tutorial on how to set it up but if that doesn’t help then please let me know 🤝🤝🎷🎷
