  • Welcome to Driving the Pan-American Highway: What do you really need? at Virtual Overland Expo Summer! Join Candice and Jordan of Be Old Later fame as they walk you through all of the things that you ACTUALLY need on a trip down the Pan-American Highway.
Candice and Jordan are vehicle-based overlanders who have recently completed a drive of the Pan-American Highway from Vancouver, B.C., Canada, north to Tuktoyaktuk, NWT, then all the way south to Ushuaia, Argentina.
Candice is the life of the party, a professional artist, a nature lover and an avid volunteer who sees the true importance of giving back. During her travels, she enjoys painting murals and teaching kids how to draw. Jordan is a UA-cam-taught van builder. When not exploring the world by vehicle or on foot, he works as a Visual Effects Compositor for films. Over the last fifteen years, he’s developed a love for shooting photos instead of just editing them. They both enjoy telling the stories that inspired them to click the shutter in the first place. To them, "be old later" means living life to the fullest here and now, and never letting your age hold you back from doing the things that excite you.
💥Make sure to tune in to our Instagram account all day long to watch all of the IG-Lives where we are giving away a ton of cool prizes and interviewing overlanders and exhibitors alike!💥

Drove the PanAM highway from south to north...Wonderful informative Candice & Jordan... thanks. I skipped the vehicle prep by buying an American made/licensed vehicle that was driven north to south .... worked out great driving it (Ford truck) South to North ... Here is a suggestion for a cheap trip of a lifetime. ... there are certain locations (commercial campgrounds)that Overlanders from Europe leave their vehicles..... travel to Uruguay... buy a vehicle.. spend a season in Patagonia .... next season ship to South Africa... I agree with these guys.. especially: 1) water filter, 2) electric navigation and overlander app, 3) sleeping inside your vehicle, and 4) beefed up suspension .... other than these 4, all the rest are luxuries that can be solved by a good attitude....

We are leaving March 2023 in a right hand drive troopy. I’ve been trying to talk to as many people as possible with rhd that have done it and the problems they have came up with

Thanks for the great presentation! What type of diesel fuel does your van use (low sulphur)? Did you have any difficulty in finding fuel? Did you find it necessary to re-tune / recalibrate the vehicle to burn different grades of fuel? Thanks again for the presentation.

You mentioned you weren't able to get into Costa Rica or Panama because the vehicle is right-hand drive. How did you get to South America?

Did you go into the Darion gap?

Candace and Jordan shipped their vehicle around the gap as there are no roads through and travel is quite dangerous for many reasons.
Feel free to reach out to them on social media or online as @beoldlater.
