I live 2 hours away from Yosemite National Park and am amazed at the number of people who live close and have never been .
Dan, I’m certain you have inspired countless people to put some gas in the vehicle they already own and go have a day adventure!
Thanks for another terrific video and photography.
    Be safe and stay well!

Buy Dan’s books to get so much more of the feeling he just touches on in this video. His books are not just a chronology of his trips but wonderful stories of personal growth which anyone, even those who never intend to travel, will appreciate.

Love this video Dan. So much overlanding continent is focused on the vehicle, gear, etc. We live on such an amazingly beautiful planet. It’s all about getting out there away from the vehicle and seeing it!

Super inspiring video. This is why I have become a patron!
I really love and share your thinking that the vehicle is a means to an end. It's not about having the biggest tires, but about using whatever tires you have to explore and discover the world around you.
Thanks, Dan, for doing what you're doing. Safe travels towards your next amazing adventure!

Awesome fotos and great adventure. Climbed the cotopaxi in 1982, didn’t reach the summit though because we got on the wrong way, but surely one of the greatest adventures in my life.

Anyone wanting more context about the bolivia salt flats-atacama desert part should really pick up the first book and read it. The section where Dan goes in deep about it is wild as hell and makes the Simpson desert part of the Australia trip look like a walk in the park. After reading that I understood why Dan took like double the supplies needed when he trekked through the Simpson.
Hell, I road tripped to Vegas from Vancouver this past May and even I brought far-FAR more gas, food and water than I really needed just for that ‘in case shit is about to hit the fan’ moment.

Great stories and life lessons Dan, thanks for sharing. If you're ever run short of things to talk about in your videos, it would be neat to hear more about the fellow travelers you ran into during your travels, what their stories were and what their doing now.

Dan, You've got me incredibly stoked to explore South America. I actually did a similar kayaking trip in Valdez in 1998, except it was just my girlfriend and I by ourselves in a rented kayak. We hired a water taxi to drop us off by the glacier and then camped and paddled our way back to Valdez over the next several days. Rained the entire time. It was at the same time, terribly miserable and fantastic.

Great timing Dan. I just finished your first book!!!
After a few false starts, over the last few months. It took me awhile to get into it after reading the Africa volume first.
At least this one did not make me cry at the end. I think had more of a adventure in South America then Africa. Just by the way in Africa you had to keep moving. As you seemed to be more limited by time\Visas and or funds.
I could tell you were going to select these experience's. By the passion in your writing and detail with these 5 experiences.
Stay safe. I hope one day in the not to distant future see you on the road.

Cheers Gavin, I really appreciate the support and honest feedback.
They certainly were two entirely different trips. In a lot of ways the PanAm was a vacation, while Africa (ESPECIALLY West Africa) was a true Expedition - must harder in many ways, much more exhausting, much closer to "the line" more often.
      I, of course, loved it!
... I also can't read the end of my second book without crying.

Having recently finished reading Volume 1 of The Road Chose Me, I tried to pause and guess what moments you would choose. I got a couple right, but trying to guess really made it hit me again how much I can't wait for my own trip because I realized there were easily more than a dozen moments you could have used here that were just as amazing. Thanks again for another inspiring video Dan!

Great vid as always! I like you comments on lava, everyone forgets it’s melted rock, so still has the density of rock, even though it can flow, pretty much everything is less dense so will actually float! After you realize this any movie with lava doesn’t make sense

Amazing number of cool pictures in there... Did you drive Van Zyl’s and go to the Marienfluss in Namibia? I would be curious to hear comparisons in terms of remoteness between that and the salt flats of Bolivia - which are definitely on my bucket list.

After the Pan-Am I lived in the Yukon for 4 years and roamed all over the North, so maybe I'm a little numb to the stunning wildlife up there. It became an everyday thing to see bears, moose, bald eagles, catch salmon so big I needed two hands to pick them up, etc. etc.
