Thank you for your support. The one thing you might be missing is how impactful this somewhat cheesy Hallmark-ish romcom is to those of us who for decades have had to work to mentally transpose the gender of the heroine to hero of all these boy-meets-girl, boy-loves-girl, boy-gets-girl stories from Jane Austin and on in order, to appreciate the story the fullest. I remember the days of the awful stereotypical Boys In The Band was such extraordinary a landmark in even being allowed in theaters, the many times the lonely gay man was the homicidal killer, or who died by his own hand, the times a same-sex love story always ended on a tragic note to appeal to the intended straight audience. I'm 73 yo and this is the first time (except for the low-budget - and excellent - Latter Day Saints movie) that I have felt directly about the story in this way. I haven't seen the actual movie yet but I've been binge-watching EVERY reaction video I can find, and crying happy tears at so many of the key moments that now I have seared in my brain. It is so good to have allies who are comfortable about being open about their support. Thanks again.
This, exactly. Straight people have been getting these kinds of movies all their lives but the queer community always gets the tragic ending, the thought-provoking commentaries, as if we owe people profound stories instead of just having light-hearted and happy movies from time to time. It wasn't the best movie or anything like that, and I enjoyed reading the book far more, but there's something about two queer people just simply being happy with each other and falling in love and becoming comfortable in their existence, and it is something that needs to be celebrated. The novel was extremely heartfelt and honestly well-written, and even though it was not exactly the same, the movie did a good job of capturing the book's essence. I am a lesbian and from a new generation, sir, but we still feel the same sentiments as you do even in this time and age, and we're just happy something like RWRB exists.

This film was so widely accepted on Prime that a few weeks ago it was announced a sequel is in the works. The two leads have confirmed they’ve signed on to the production, and the author and director have started work on the screenplay. It will be interesting to see how Alex and Henry’s life together continues. I think what a lot of people don’t realize is within the past 40 years, movies with a gay theme mostly ended tragically. One or more of the characters is bashed, killed or dies of AIDS. We in the gay community appreciated this film because it ended on a positive note. My husband of 34 years and I loved the film. We hope the sequel doesn’t take too long to produce.

And there was leaked info about like Henry’s sister and her addiction, and Alex’s complicated relationship with his parents (who in the book are divorced. And love him, but can be a bit neglectful due to their work). As a lesbian I love watching *respectful* straight dudes react to gay/queer storylines, it’s kinda sweet. Edit: I will say tho, some comments were unnecessary. (Like the gay porn jokes and position jokes) I did overall enjoy the video tho and I understand they probably didn’t mean for it to come off that way. I don’t think they meant it in a way to mock gay men being intimate but as a note for the future, it can come off that way. Love your videos though and I highly doubt you meant it as a mockery. Just my two cents.
@@resathe6760I'm a straight female and trust me this is respectful 😂 .it could have been worse. She's knows wat she meant. Most straight males aren't decent human beings 😅
In the alternate universe of this film, Uma Thurman was elected as president instead of Trump in 2016 - sort of an alternate Hillary. When the book was written, the Queen was still alive, so the alternate royal family had Henry one of the sons of the Queen's daughters and a pop-icon father who had played James Bond in some movies, but had since died, instead of the Queen's son and pop-icon Princess Di. By the time of the filming, the Queen had died, so they switched it to have a king instead, old like Prince Charles. The movie doesn't have time to dwell on their royal family, but having Henry drive up in the sports car was a nod to a James Bond connection.
@@snowchips9596 2 dudes had a really awkward kiss and they screamed (at the awkwardness), Jo saying after "Wait it wasnt because they're two men. people are gonna take that out of context"
the fact that they would like make out a little bit and aaron would be like 'yo we watching gay p0rn' is such a hetero dude thing to say and its so funny to me
@fuckinggrass8116 I think their initial comments were less saying it's gay porn and more saying they feel like they are watching the start to a gay porno, and I feel like part of that feeling is probably a lack of experience watching gay films and the like so they are drawing back on what they know. Also wasn't there a scene that was explicit enough that they couldn't show it on youtube? I understand what you mean about the hypersexuality, I guess I just feel like, is their reaction really that bad for two straight guys who aren't used to it? I also think that is probably is more uncomfortable at first to be watching steamy gay things with another man, but I think this is really the fault of the pressures of society on men to not be gay, and I find it hard to fault them for that. I don't think they are intentionally trying to be offensive in any way.
@fuckinggrass8116 Fair enough. It doesn't hurt to be critical of these things and the language we use and how that language is shaped by subconscious biases and can be harmful even on smaller scales.
@valenz1234 straight men usually don't go out of their way to watch lgbtq movies and shows, so I can see intimate scenes being a little awkward for them both. I dont think they meant any harm with their comments on sex scenes, I just think it might have been awkward if theyre not someone who consumes lgbtq media so they resorted to bro jokes. People forget that gay marriage became legal only in 2015. And, lot of lgbtq movies and shows became mainstream within the past few years. Maybe in the next 10 years there will be straight men who've consumed lgbtq media that will be better educated and familiarized.

this is one of ur guy’s funniest videos fr. there’s a lot to poke fun at in this movie but it genuinely makes for a good and cute romcom
The firework jokes that Jo kept making 😂 I was beside myself with laughter!
I know this was from a year ago but out of all the reactions I've seen for this movie this one had me dying laughing the whole time. I can't remember the last time I physically laughed outloud instead of just chuckling. The fireworks bit was my favorite.
You guys are great
As a lesbian I love watching *respectful* straight dudes react to gay/queer storylines, it’s kinda sweet.
Agreeddd
you found that respectful?
@@resathe6760I'm a straight female and trust me this is respectful 😂 .it could have been worse. She's knows wat she meant. Most straight males aren't decent human beings 😅
I’m sorry but that’s not respectful at all
@@chaimakoko5862 then leave
omg i have been WAITING for you guys to make a video on this movie. i literally jumped as soon as I saw the notification
Was this movie kinda bad?? Yes. Have I watched it like 8 times already?? Also yes. Is it because I love the book and these characters?? Probably.
The movie doesn't have time to dwell on their royal family, but having Henry drive up in the sports car was a nod to a James Bond connection.
yeah she’s a democrat
That's not actually true. They switched to a King to distance the story from reality AND THEN the Queen died, which fucked up that whole idea 😂
Weird having Hillary be her alternate president given her history and the other options she could of went for
Im gonna assume you ONLY made this video to clear up the homophobe allegations from the last video 😭
we went from GAY TAX to GAY RIGHTS
Wait what did they say in the last video 💀
@@snowchips9596 2 dudes had a really awkward kiss and they screamed (at the awkwardness), Jo saying after "Wait it wasnt because they're two men. people are gonna take that out of context"
@@Dizzybevvie as a gay person that was my favorite part of the video

The Secret Service and the gun got me every time
the fact that they would like make out a little bit and aaron would be like 'yo we watching gay p0rn' is such a hetero dude thing to say and its so funny to me
Funny? I find it sad. It's funny when you're 14, not when you're a grown adult with a mature brain
@fuckinggrass8116 tbf it's awkward watching any kissing scenes with a friend. but i imagine the more explicit scenes, even moreso
This was great 😂 as a gay man I found this funny. I'm using Gayta in my vocabulary 😂😂 can't wait for your next video. Hope your both doing great, have a good day.
This movie was surprisingly funny or maybe I have a shit taste of humor lol
It really was lol, I enjoyed it
it was don't worry lol
Yes it was! So was the book
Nah this movie sucked dick
I’ve been curious about what it would be like to watch this without knowing ANYTHING about the book- there is so much fanservice that I’m sure a lot of it would be perplexing. Thank you for your service boys
I didn’t know anything and I’ve seen this 4 times since it came out. Now that you said that I wish I read the book before 😭
the nurse comment at 10:21 is so real 😭😭 i always find myself looking at peoples arms in public being like “damn I could put an iv in that so easily” 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
19:16 "fukin-him palace" lmaoooo 😭😭🤌
Now THIS is equality! There is an endless amount of cheap bad romance movies for the straights. It's time for the gays to get theirs lol
I think most are unfortunately bad
@johnnyjack4079 yes, yes they are lol
@@Tosipahamorso are u talking about man on man ROM COMS ? I mean I was talking about that, not man/woman ones
i watch this video at LEAST once a day and by the end i’m always laughing uncontrollably. BEST VIDEO ON YT 👏
"I will no longer be the prince of shame and of secrets"
This is such a Wattpad line omg 😂
Yeah, but it’s fairly typical for any rom-com.
“It’s meant to be when everybody drops it except you and ya boy” Poetic 🤌🏾
the commentary was too good in this one glad y’all enjoyed the movie too
As a lesbian, I will now be using gayta instead of gaydar💀
“NOOOO NOT THE OSTRICH” Aaron come on that’s clearly a chicken 😤😤😂😂
Mate that's obviously an emu 🦤
Congrats on moving!! I haven’t read the book but the cast did a beautiful job in the film! Taylor and Nicholas had great chemistry throughout the entire thing 💙💙💙
I keep seeing people say that but I thought their chemistry was average and felt like Taylor's acting in particular was pretty bad. But I'd definitely recommend the book, especially if you liked the movie, the book is even better!
The way I’m obsessed with this movie
“Slayyyy, slayyyy, slay Mrs.president Slayma Thurman” 😂😂😂😂
Your ability to misinterpret the simplest of scenes is honestly impressive lmao
This movie sucked ass
i love rewatching this video, you point out all the awkward line-reads and shots that i kept noticing. WHY IS THE MUSEUM SCENE SO DAMN WEIRD LOOKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's so awkward XD
I died when they cut to Bush in the childrens hospital scene 💀
I always love the first minute of Aaron chatting before the video 😂
"GAY MEN KISS GAY MEN KISS 🥳🥳🥳" YES JO
Omg aaron and jo watching rwrb? Wow
I love this movie!!! I have watched it 4 times in 1 day and I cannot stop. The book and the movie are great. The chemistry between Nick and Taylor is off the charts!!! I laughed, I cried. Everytime I watch it I see more details and nuances that I missed. The love making scene was perfection!!! Never seen anything like that before. ❤️
I have now seen it 11 times! It just gets better and better!!! ❤❤❤
I liked the book but Taylor's acting just is not it. Nick acted circles around him, though.
@@lisasu7094i think they are great, together and individual. More a preference. That is oke.
What’s with women and loving gay novels?
'fuckinghim palace' is CRAZY LMAOOO
kinda shocked at the negative feedback in the comment section...aaron and jo are allies they're just goofy as fuck they don't mean any harm😂
I think you’re misinterpreting. Most commenters get what they’re doing.
@@Debbie338 i'm talking only about the negative comments though
@@netizenrealness I saw very few negative comments. Straight men feeling awkward about watching this movie is to be expected, but I didn’t see any comments that were derogatory. The comment section is pretty tame, considering.
whether they're being goofy or allies or just 'good old dudes' they are trying waay too hard to be funny.
@@haintedhouse2990 well i and thousands of other people find them hilarious...different strokes for different folks i guess lol
I cannot explain how or why the edit of Jo pretending to shoot as the CIA over the fireworks cracks me up, literally tears laughing 😂 so good
Of course they cast Stephen Fry in this movie you really can't be gay in England without Stephen Fry getting in there somewhere
Should I be reading through my school's syllabus and preparing for school tomorrow? Yes, but I instead will watch Aaron and Jo react to this amazing gay firework movie🤩
Lol same
The syllabus is just a suggestion 😍
The firework ref 🤣🤣🤣
AARON, JO THIS IS INCREDIBLE CONTENT
i loved this movie a lot and i'm so glad to see your guys reaction! this is def one of your best videos. i laughed SO much . i seriously look forward to new videos every week and you all never disappoint. keep up the good work guys
"It's 622" was an underrated joke 🤣
I wish yall would do a little more discussion and review after each movie you watch!!!!! Im so curious of what you guys think of the stuff you watch, even if its kinda silly
i guess aaron and jo are true allies by roasting this movie even though it’s for the gays… equality…?
will we ever know what happened to little aaron in that store
they might be the most unbiased judges of the movie because neither of them are blinded by how hot the leads are
I think this is why it doesn't make sense for them to review it. It's not Citizen Kane. It's a gay romcom. and ALL romcoms rely on the lead characters' hotness
"uma thurman? dude, this IS tarantino" 😭😭💀
Watching the two of you made me feel even happier that I’m a lesbian. 😂🤣😂🤣😂
Loved the hangout we had for 55 seconds
I just watched this last night and was like “huh, Aaron and Jo would absolutely love this movie” boy was I right 💀🤭
I’m actually so glad y’all covered this movie!!! I loved this!
Okay now I want a movie about the kid lighting off fireworks for his friend in the hospital LMAO
I wanna hear you finish that story Aaron!!😂🫶🏾
I read this book and lost my fucking mind when I saw they made it into a movie. now I’m losing my mind again seeing y’all watch it :D
3:52 the cut to jo screaming is my eternal monologue every single day
It is Matthew Lopez his first movie, he is from theaters. It is a rom com and turns into a love story. And I love it, we get so many straight rom coms, so this is great for me. Love it! ❤❤
lol i love it "was this a wattpad?"
"Whats the difference"
I love my fanfiction hehe.
11:07 LMAO I think you guys got them mixed up ☠️
9:50 “oh they’re gonna actually do back piping “ 😂 what?!
I also screamed “GAY MEN KISS GAY MEN KISS” when I watched this movie
love watching cringey romcoms strictly through Aaron and Jo reactions. The dialogue and line delivery jokes had me crying
