Oh god, I love these mildly terrifying idiots to bits. I’m not going to lie, I was dreading what was waiting for Sally at the station right up until the moment they started singing.
Frogs Pepe you tend to see the citizens as more monsters than people because of how they’re portrayed. But this clip shows the Bobby’s in a more positive mood with this little dance
That's not quite true, i think the aim is to show that as a collective people are horrible, but when you do sidequests for individuals you find that they're all people who are just trying to survive, or so hopped up on joy they're disconnected from reality. Besides, this is supposed to be creepy I'm pretty sure, as the Bobby threatens Sally not to be late next time. And this is where Sally immediately resolves to leave. This scene doesn't humanise them, it shows how insane they *all* are
Am I the only one who wants a playable Bobby dlc for this game? Because I do. Like, maybe a Bobby who begins to question the morality of his job, perhaps? I’m sure it’d be a hit... probably. Having to hide from your former coworkers and occasionally blending in among them might make for an interesting twist.
I don't get it, are we supposed to dislike/fear the bobbies? How can I when they're this entertaining?! The fact they do all this just for Sally is remarkable too. Hell even giving a bobby some scotch on the street makes them very appreciative of you.
That's why I was so happy to find scotch, every time I found some I made sure to stock up and every bobby I encountered I gave them some. I never related to a character more, having a job where they feel so unappreciated. No wonder they need blackberry, they have to be happy while dealing with the unpleasantness which could make them unhappy and if they're unhappy...well we know how that is. Though I wish we had more background on that bobby in white who was spouting biblical references, that was really out of left field given the Wellies seems to have abandoned religion (except for when mentioned in letters) in favor of fun and Joy.
Moral greyness is the central theme of the game. You’re supposed to be ambivalent about pretty much EVERYONE in Wellington Wells, PC and NPC alike. Wellie, wastrel, downer, bobby, doctor... Everyone has done something to regret in their past. And the majority continue to do terrible things- some for survival like wastrels and downers, some because they’re obeying orders like bobbies and doctors, and most of them because they just want to pretend that everything is alright like Wellies.
The terrifying part is they show both a human side and an inhuman level of aggression and violence as well. Even in this video despite them having a happy dance and rewarding Sally, the bobby at the end is also politely and subtly threatening her to not be late, and hinting that they are willing to kill or beat her into submission just to have their fix of Blackberry Joy, which is extremely more addictive than regular Joy.
When you first see that bobbies have masks that look menacing compared to the masks that regular villagers have, you’d think that they’d be evil and sinister characters And then you get stuff like this
"I don't know if it's the Joy or if this song is catchy and i don't care" Joins the singing. "Glory Glory Hallelujah hip hooray amen sing Hallelujah sing Hallelujah"
You know....if anyone were to tell me that there will be Bobbies dancing in this game months ago, I would not believe them. O_O Now that I am watching this, I still can't believe it....

night wolf In the game good citizens go indoors at nighttime. Meaning all NPCs other than the bobbies will go to the nearest open house/building or will go their own house directly if none are available/nearby. Since I’m the cutscene Sally’s door was open so it must’ve just turned night recently when the video was recorded. That’s why it happened.
Same thing happened here, except I was being chased by a bunch of people. So, I’m about to start having joy withdrawals, and I need to get to my house. I run in through the front. Shut the door, run upstairs to my room. I get in there and lock my door. I turn around and there is a random guy glitched in my bed while t-posing. I freak out until I realize that he doesn’t seem to actually be working. Since I’m sure everything is fine, I open my door and walk out of my room. At this point, I’m having joy withdrawals. All of a sudden, I hear, “Are you alright? You look sick.” I freak out and there’s a lady standing behind me. I run to my room and lock the door as she starts to turn hostile. I wait until everything is fine before walking back out. As I go downstairs, there’s a person in every room just sitting on some kind of seat, reading newspaper. It was a nightmare trying to get all of them to stay out afterwards. Sorry for long post.
I finally started playing this game and when I saw this video this morning it literally made my entire day better. It's absolutely adorable and I didn't expect this at all. xD I love the bobbies.

This game has so many flaws and bugs but I still love it because it has a certain charm I have never seen in another game. Hopefully they make a sequel on a bigger budget
If anyone's curious the term Bobbies was originally an insult. The origin of the phrase came from Ireland when the then Chief Secretary Robert Peel (yes that was his name) established a paramilitary force to defend landlords and to quell civil unrest during 1814. This carried over to the UK when as a prime minister he created the first official police organization to being as people were untrustworthy of law officials due to how they were usually an extension of the military.
The first time I heard this song I found it to be a fun song, but after hearing it three more times I found something about it to be kind of weird... like "you want some wine with that cheese" kind of weird. LOL!
Cheryl Duncan Well isn’t it obvious? The boys in blue have to set a standard for the good ladies and gentlemen of Wellington Wells. They’re charged with protecting their neighbors, and doing so in good cheer. The expression is much easier to hold with a more rigid mask~
To be honest, this game is the only thing that made me like the police, even if they're ficticious. I mean... They're so cute! It’s so interesting how they dehumanized everyone, and then humanize the bobbies more than 90% of the people in the town
Tucker Cooper Part of that is because the Joy they take doesn’t make you as high as the other flavors do.
@@thekagawalife2081 Bobbies take Joy, that keeps your mind clear, but still keeps you happy. It's far more addictive, than regular Joy.
