It was a rain wrapped tornado. They can be some of the worst. Not because of their strength, but because you don't see them until it's too late.

Somewhat of a Miracle he survived. We are working with him to help with future licensing of his video. We will everything we can long term to support him. Just wished the video was filmed in landscape as it really limits licensing opportunities.

@@beekeeper4243 are you taking the piss or what. Australia has always had tornados and a lot more of them than you think. There is documented tornados for over 100 yrs. I have been within 10kms of 5 tornados now in the past 30 yrs. Australia has also had an f5 tornado and many people have died. Approx 100 yrs ago w men when seen being taken by a tornado in Chetwyd, later found some distance away and unalived. The casterton tornado in June 1989 f2-f3 travelled approx 77kms ripping 100+ yr old redgum trees from the ground and demolished a home, luckily they were out at the time. Maybe, just maybe, in the last 15-20 yrs we have had these things called smart phones and social media!!

Late September and early October 2021 produced several impressive events, of which I could not chase due to lock downs but im glad people were able to document the events. The structure with that Narrabri tornado is brilliant. I really enjoy the fact that this channel literally shows that Australia gets Tornadoes.
The one thing I will say, is Australia gets lots of Tornadoes, second to America. Understand our Tornadoes are no where as powerful with what happens in the states.
The reason "Aussie Tornadoes" are many not documented, is because it happens away from us with big storms in the middle of nowhere.
I love this channel and think it's a wake-up call to all Australians like myself.. Thank you...

Wow, I did not know one of them happened literally just a few hundred meters from my house.
Apparently I didn't take much notice when it hit.

The footage from Vivien Drysdale at 12.57 in, was what Merbein VIC had occur on 11/11/2016 at about 7:30pm but News story mainly focused on Microburst and it's damage that hit about hour later that affected all of main region including across River in NSW.

aprox 20 years ago I was in SA driving from Adelaide to Port Pirie, it was very windy and dry. Summer. I must have seen 100's of whirl winds and several large tornados. It was unbelievable and something I will never forget. One would have been several hundred meters across. Only 2 years ago the Norther suburbs had a rogue tornado come across Main North road through industrial zones. Left a bit of damage and debris, mainly from trees.

The tornado in Bunbury hit the bloody pcyc while I was in a dance class like 10kms away and my dad left my siblings home alone. I had soccer next to the pcyc the next day and there was asbestos all over the hockey fields so all hockey games were canceled

was in a micro-burst in hervey bay 20 years ago that must have had tornadoes in it because next day during the clean-up i saw one of those hessian/ seagrass doormats that you wipe your feet on at the front door UP IN THE POWER LINES! soaking wet and full of sand they weigh 40 pounds , how did wind get this to the power lines? one hell of an up-draught....

There was a tornado in Grays Point, Sutherland Shire a few years back. I was hit. Though it was late at night. As far as I’m aware the BOM didn’t confirm any touchdown, but there was definitely ground circulation when I looked outside.

The Canberra fires back in the day was a massive tornado made out of fire, if I remember right it measured at a category 3. I seen some Arial footage of all the gum trees that had been blown over in a massive spiral, incredible display of mother nature's power

For those from other countries, tornados are extremely rare in Australia. We get Willy’s and Eddies but they are little. I’ve live here all my life - the last 30 in NSW, and I’ve only heard of 3 and one of them was caused by the 2019/20 bushfires. (Of note they were all in the last 7 years)

Only have a few angles on this one. Unfortunately the best footage has been taken by “others” and is being profited from by those who will give nothing back to the person who filmed it. We work to help share revenue from this channel and assist with licensing. But can only do our best when public simply don’t know where to safely send their content for publishing and licensing.
