- #258. HE STOPS Inks SPREADING In Resin!
In todays Resin Art video I try hairspray again but on epoxy resin with the petri effect!
I am amazed at how this resin experiment came out! Especially for a first try, I managed to predict one major issue but I know that will be an easy fix!
I love how the colors stay separated in these pieces and this will help so many resin art beginners to accomplish better results by using this method!
Shall I make a part two with the diluted sinker alcohol ink? I think I need to!

Hi all, whilst my previous video... may have been a little reckless.... this would not have happened without that experiment 🤩 This is CRAZY! x
I didn't think of it as reckless - you realized the potential hazards and were cautious, even if you didn't expect the "pop" as it cured. Reckless would have been taking a torch to the bubbles hahaha.
@@Disjointedimages 😁😁 thanks 😁
I love the spores! Would like to see more created!
I CAN WATCH YOUR CHANNEL FOR HOURS
I like the heavier spores! Gives it a kind of deeper look, like a world trapped inside.
It gives them more depth, the heart with hairspray looks amazing! It’s my favourite of the whole video
Thanks 😁 😊
🥰🥰🥰 thanks
I like the ones with the spores as it’s more interesting. The vibrancy is amazing. You’ve done it again Dan!x
Gorgeous experiment! Can't wait to try it!!
I love how vibrant the hairspray made the colors rather than the normal way! Love your experiments!!
😮 game changer!!!
The distinct colors and spores make a unique look. They all have a place for sure. Looking forward to your continued experiments.
Wheee! Dan, I LOVE the hairspray results! 💕😍👍 Fabulous color separation and vibrancy, and I LOVE those spores, even the ones touching the surface, for some reason?
The "controls" are still gorgeous, as always, but...WOW for the experimental ones! Do it again, pretty please? Yes, try the thinned-out sinker, just to see, please?
This was fun! 😊👍
Thank you 😊 🙏 Will try soon 😁
I agree that the hairspray makes the colours pop more, which has its place in resin art. Personally I like the more uniform petri effect. I’m certainly looking forward to more experimenting with the hairspray. 👍Thank you Daniel. I hope you were wearing your white coat! 😅👍🇬🇧
Thanks Sue 😁 😊 🫂 The lab coat is for special occasions 😁
I prefer the hairspray results because of the deeper spores & colour clarity. Will definitely try this. Thank you 😊
Oh my word. I have been struggling with the Petri as in South Africa we don't have Let's Resin. Absolutely amazing
I love me a good mad scientist 😉 Thanks for sharing tips and tricks and taking the time to experiment so the rest of us don't have to! I've learned so much from just the couple videos I've watched and referred my friends (also beginners) over to your channel as well.
I like the hairspray version; I like the vibrancy and the spores. Someone else said it looks like another world, and I agree. 😊
Thank you 😊 🙏
Splendidi quelli fatti con la lacca per capelli ❤
Ahhhhmazing! I can see you doing patterns with the ink , like rows of colors and running the toothpick through to create stunning patterns. :)
Thank you 😊 Yes, new petri effects definitely coming 😁
I LOVE the spores! Makes it look like an alien world. ❤️❤️🪐👽
Thanks 😁 👽
They are definitely more vibrant on the right. The longer spores don't bother me much unless it's a lot of them around the same area. There are some muddy spaces in each side. I think I like the the hairspray side better for the color vibrancy.
✌️❤️🤣 peace, love and happiness
Oh my goodness I absolutely love the spores on the second ones you showed of the small round pieces and love the colors!!!
Thank you so much!
They're both beautiful in their own right. I love merging colours, but then seeing them separate, just as stunning 🩷🧡💛💚💙💜🤎
That's amazing how the colors are so vibrant! Hair spray?! Who knew?
I like the long spores.😊
Thanks Ali 😁 😊 🫂
Can defo see the vibrancy of colour with the hair spray, you are defo the resin top scientist for us to learn from, thank goodness you enjoy this so we don't have to do bland resin art 😊
Thanks Tracey 😁
Those spores on the heart are gorgeous!!!❤
Wow, the second one with the hairspray... when you showed the side view made me think of an alien concert for some reason. Then I realized it was reminding me of the Daft Punk music video for "One More Time!" 😂 I love that video and the effect with the hairspray. 🥰 Don't even mind when it blobs because the blobs have dragged actual vibrant color with them, not just the plain white or very diluted color. 😁
I'm definitely wanting to see what you create with this method and the modified sinker white in the future. 😉👍
Thanks so much 😁 will try my idea soon 😁
Daniel!!!! This blew my mind!!! I’m thrilled you found this out!
Thanks so much 🙏
Love the vibrancy, with the hair spray 😍🥰
Absolutely beautiful love the ones with the hairspray. Definitely looks like a world in side.
I have to agree with some others. The deeper sink gives it a more 3D look. Galaxies for example. The othr is cool too, but I like this deeper sink
I love, love, love the galaxy look but didn't know how to achieve it until now!
When you turned the second set over I said wow before you did - I love the way the green has spores in that one - like the difference with the heavier spores and the brightness in the experiment ones - brilliant to see ty
Thank you 😊 🙏
Mad scientist strikes again! Great job!
Thank you 😊
The ones with hairspray are a lot more vibrant. Love you Daniel, you are a genius! ❤
They are beautiful, the hairspray ones are definitely brighter, i live the the little spores, it makes them more interesting ❤
Thank you 😊 🙏
The hairspray versions are so cool! I love the vibrancy of the colors! I actually like the spores. I think they look pretty awesome.
Thanks Lisa 😁 😊 🫂
WOW 😮😮😮😮 totally worth it. Those colors are AMAZING ❤❤❤❤
Thanks Tammy 😁
The colors are so much more vibrant. Great job man scientist Dan😊
Thanks so much! 🥰
The colors definitely stand out more with the hairspray. I can’t decide between the two techniques. Stunning.
Thanks Janice 😁 😊 🫂 They definitely pop 😁
I really like the spores ❤
Maybe, if you repeat the experiment, you could also try with just 2 or 3 colors. for example: red, orange, yellow for a flame look. I think this will look awesome too!
Both look great but I agree the hairspray ones look vibrant. And I love how the spores look on those as well.
Thanks 😁
So much more vibrant. I'm going to have to get some hairspray!
Crazy isnt it! 🤩
Love your experiments Daniel. The colours with the hairspray are beautiful and so bright.
I love the vibrancy.. so yes, worth it!
Yay, thank you 😊
The spores look coooool far out though!
Thanks 😁
So interesting 🤔. I do like the longer spores. Such a cool vibe.
This is super!!😍👍❤
Thank you! 😊🥰🫂
That is so cool. Love the brightness of the colours. The “controlled” pendants are gorgeous as well. My favourite was the large oval one without hairspray. Thank you for sharing ❤
Thanks Leanne 😁
I love this experiment; so worth it with the vibrant ones. Can’t wait to see how the thinned out sinker will work on the next experiment. 💗☀️🌈
Thanks 😁 Will test and update 😁
This is fascinating, Daniel. I love the vibrancy of the colours on the experimental ones. The elongated spores make them look like some alien landscape or something. Thanks for another great video tutorial! I can't wait to see what the watered-down sinker can produce!
Thanks Pauline 😁 😊 🫂
Very nice comparison video. 🎉🎉 That's why I like to put hairspray in my homemade alcohol inks. It's really helpful at controlling the spreading. It also leaves them a lot less muddy. 🙂 It truly does make a difference!
Thanks, yes, will be trying this soon too 😁
Idea... try drop a color then immediately drop the white and so on and so on. And do your normal let colors settle then drop your white in each and see the difference. Love this experiment and all your videos.
Thanks 😁 May try soon 😊
Great idea. That bright pink keeping its color especially was awesome. Makes me wonder what doing a set of just neon would come out like - since you'd have minimal muddying and really be able to see all the individual colors more.
Also, I'm not super familiar with the sinker white - what would happen if you spritzed it on with a spray bottle instead of doing drops? Would you be able to get a bigger field of spores?
Thank you 😊 I haven't tried but could spray the inks with the force, I wouldn't risk it personally
Wow, I liked the one with the hairspray because the colors were more vibrant, i can't wait for the ones with more alcohol in the white ink. 😊😊😊
Thank you 😊 Will test soon 😁
Awesome, now more intricate details can be designed
The vibrancy of the hairspray pieces is amazing!!!!!!!
Thank you 😊 Definitely 😁
epoxy resin yes that's what it is called. Llast video I called it time-dry LOL couldn't come up with epoxy.
This worked really nice. Amazing how the hair spray effected the colors. I kinda like the long spores effect. Thanks
The hairspray accentuates everything.. wonderful to know!
Great experiment
I love the spores n 3d effects.brilliant❤😊
Thanks so much 😊
❤ Hi Daniel, I think the fist two and the last two that you done are stunning. With the first two, I noticed in the one on the right at first glance it looked like a sort of mermaid at the bottom of the pendent. the hairspray is most definitely awesome for this kind of project.
Thanks so much 🙏
I love the 3 D effect of the spores.... maybe i am just a little wonky ...lol...but I really like the spores...it's like the colors are jumping out towards you!!!...Great Job Daniel once again!!!!😀
Thanks so much 🙏
I LOVE the ‘spores’!
😁😁🥰
They look totally effin awesome!!! I luv them both ways but the hairspray ones have blown my mind
Thanks Mandi 😁
Je pense préférer le mode sans laque.
L'effet à mon humble avis est plus harmonieux 😊
Total game changer right here. Now I need to steel my wife’s hair spray
😂
Hi Dan! xx 🎉
Hi Fran 👋 🥰
The ones without look a bit “muddier” vs with the effects r clearer! Excellent!
Thank you 😊
This is amazing! Can you do it with your fire designs?
Thanks 😁 Sure can 😁
I think hairspray wins. The backs are equally as beautiful as the fronts. I like the spores, it gives them more dimension.
2 good uses for hairspray, killing spiders and resin!! 😂
Thank you 😊 🙏
Nice! 👍
Edit: every video is #nextlevel 😮 keep it going! 💯
Thank you 🙌
Fantastic job. More experiments please with the hairspray and your sinker whites. Love it
I LIKE THE TEST PIECES THE BEST
Thanks Brenda 😁 😊
So cool!!! I am one of those people who struggles with the petri effect so definitely keen to try this. And I love the spores 😀
I actually like the blending, and the lighter spores, but that doesn’t detract from another great experiment!
Thanks Mary 😁 😊
This is huge, could do fab scenes and designs on bigger pieces, with the control 😀 👌 👍
Those are gorgeous! I'm looking forward to the thinned down sinker version.
Thank you 😊 Will try soon 😁😁🥰
Fantastic!!! This is incredibly helpful. Sometimes those little rascals spread so fast I don't have a chance to add all the colors that I had planned to use. Thank you so much Daniel ❤😊
Thanks Julie 😁 😊 🫂
The hairspray effect…love the color more, but not crazy about it because of the touching spores to the surface. Other than that….way to go!!!
Thank you 😊 🙏
Love everything about this video, will look forward to the thinned down sinker white and what it does. I actually like the blobs, they look stunning.
Thank you 😊
I think both methods have their merits in different situations, really. Stunning results on both sides!
It feels a bit like the same artist painted the same piece in two different mediums; one is like oil paints, and the other is more similar to gouache or pan pastels.
Thanks Cynthia 😁 😊
This is amazing I love the colors more on the hairspray ones very vibrant almost neon both turned out beautifully but I really like the hairspray ones. Now I’m checking to see if I have hairspray 😂😂 thank you for sharing your creativity really like how your crazy mind works with resins.
Thanks Katrina 😁 😊
I enjoyed the sped up bit that you would usually do off screen.
Thanks Deborah 😁 😊 🫂
Must have something to do with not allowing the breaking of surface tension. Very cool, with lots of spin-off ideas❤
Thanks Pam 😁 Definitely 😁
I won't repeat what I said when I saw this. lol I'll just say GENIUS!
😂😂 thank you 😊
Ok I didn’t read every comment so I may be repeating.. I’ve always wondered why almost nobody uses the color white.. the regular white, then white sinker. Some of my favorite jewelry is black & white (especially if you wear a lot of black). Anyway the hairspray thing would keep them separate so it doesn’t go all gray.. some would mix but most would be white or black. Also the lack of white makes it so polka dots and or a white framed image never happens. Idk I just like the white or white with colors. Black is the go to and it’s glorious.. but sometimes white is nice too. ~~Thanks for sharing.. it’s all very interesting and the possibilities are endless.🌹🌹🌹
Thank you 😊 You mean a white alcohol ink then add a sinker white on top of it? You may aswell not use it and just use the sinker? I have done pieces like that before, white with blue looks like stunning waves 😍🥰
@@daniel..cooper yah true.. no need for the regular white. Being able to make black & white jewelry would be great. ~~and I may try the white sinker with white & without just to see if it makes any difference 😂
So intrigued by all of this! I e went for the hairspray already👌Rock on!
Thanks Dan, another discovery. I had wondered whether we could use the film the hairspray left. I hadn't yet managed the link to petri art. Thank you for this discovery. ❤❤
thers much much coler in the ones with hair apray well done Daniel
I have to agree with other commenters about the spores looking awesome. It really is like having tiny little alien micro worlds. It would look fantastic in an aquarium/underwater type theme! The hairspray idea is genius and I can't wait to try it. New sub here! I think I've found my favorite resin channel! I stopped doing resin art about 5 years ago due to losing my art space, but I'm ready to get started again and you're inspiring me with each video! Thank you for all your hard work!
Thanks so much 🙏
OMG what a game changer they all look amazing going to have to try this one
Crazy is the word! They look like they have a little light in them!
Thank you Anna 😊 🙏 💓
Great results with more pops of cleaner colour. No surprise the hair spray stopped the spread, we used it to fix charcoal drawings in art school! No smudging with hair spray but never actually use it your hair! LOL
😁😁😁 Thank you
It depends on what you're looking for in an end product. I like them both, but the colors of the hair spray ones are much more separated.❣️☺️
Thanks Lori 😁 😊 🫂
Love the brightness in the ones with hairspray ❤
Thank you Kelly 😊
Amazing Daniel! Love how it keeps the vibrancy of the colors! ❤
Thank you so much 😀
I know that I took the Mick out of your Silverkrin hairspray, I take it all back, i'm buying some tomorrow!! ❤
😂😂😂😂
Absolutely stunning as always! You have a brilliant mind and 1st class skill xx
Thanks Michelle 😁 😊 🫂
I love the sinking. It gives so much depth to the pieces. And the vibrancy is amazing!!
Thank you 😊
I agree, I think it worked too, such a cool experiment and I like the heavier spores! In my head I have this idea of half filling the molds and drawing designs in black then adding more when its cured, doing the hairspray and alcohol and seeing if you can get a stained glass result by not swirling the colors. Maybe add each drop with a toothpick for better accuracy if not using an abstract black lineart design, idk, just a thought lol.
Thanks, that's a good thought! 🤩
I don’t really have a preference between the with/without the hairspray. There are some of each that I favor. But I like the small, round, hairspray with all the spores the best!😊
Thanks Dolli 😁 😊
Looking forward to seeing this done with a lighter sinker white, thanks for your inspiring videos 💡
Thanks Ann 😁 😊
Loving 🥰 it; and I actually really love the spores.. gives it a more mystical look ❤❤❤
Thank you 😊 🙏
Thoroughly enjoyed this video Daniel and the pieces are so incredible too, welll done ✔ 😊❤
Thanks Wendy 😁
Thanks Dan!! Looking forward to more experiments with this process.
Hugs from 🇨🇦
Thanks Lori 😁 😊 🫂
Your last video was awesome 😎 lol so funny and informative at the same time 😊
Thanks so much 🙏
I love both versions ❤ they are soo neat !!! 😍
Thank you 😊
Those colours are incredible! Wow
Thank you 😊
The spores don't bother me so much. They are gorgeous! ❤
Thank you 😊
Hey Daniel, I think there's something with the hairspray technique, the colours are more vibrant and their integrity is clearly visible. I personally don't mind the dropped spores, it adds to the interest.
I definately didn't try your other technique with the hairspray, but if I had, I definately wouldn't have had any spectacular failures lol
🙈 that being said, had I tried, I would have made something unique and pretty anyway!
Saw a thing on FB earlier, it was called 'Hot Ice' don't know if you've heard of it, but I thought I'd share anyway, it's a way of making some really lovely crystals, with, I think...bicarb? Sorry, menapause brain here can't remember! I just thought you might be interested wether or not the crystals would work in resin. As always, great experiment, not a fan of you referrring to yourself in the 3rd person, massive ick for me lol 'I' works better than 'he' !!
Thank you 😊 I haven't heard of this, will have a look and see 😁😁😁🥰
