    The "But it was me, a wall" is a JoJo reference as well... which is a meme about a meme. "But it was me, DIO!" is one layer... and then "Is that a Jojo reference?" is ALSO a meme.

    Main reason why Breakpoint was so hated upon release was because the game was entirely made as an rpg, considering how the previous game, Wildlands, was praised for giving the player full liberty to tackle the story whatever way you saw fit, regardless of strategy or difficulty.
    Being an rpg just made Breakpoint restrictive and linear, at least until they added Ghost mode, which is basically Wildlands 2 and makes the game highly better and more fun to play.

      There was also the whole 'it didn't work' thing, the 'copy pasted map' thing, the 'most enemies are robots' thing, the 'lying about it being a hardcore survival game pre-release' thing, the 'MTX in every nook and cranny' thing, the 'live service elements everywhere' (always online too) thing and who could forget the 'they literally put NFTs in the game' thing.

  • @T3nch1
    @T3nch1 6 місяців тому +6

    Not only is Duke Nukem a pretty good game that suffers from "It doesn't do anything original" syndrome. Because it doesn't. But that Psycho head is actually part of a trio of easter eggs linked to an achievement. Find 3 helmets and you'll get the Bucket Head achievement, these three helmets are Master Chief's, the Psycho from borderlands and Isaac Clark's mask from Dead Space. Duke will comment on all 3.

    For anyone curious about what actually was the typo in Aliens: Colonial Marines, it was the misspelling of the word "tether" as "teather".
    The actual line is: "ClassRemapping=PecanGame.PecanSeqAct_AttachXenoToTether -> PecanGame.PecanSeqAct_AttachPawnToTeather"
    The first part of the code attaches the Alien to it's spawn zone. It does nothing else. The second part is supposed to attach and switch behaviour by assigning a new "tether", so that when the Alien encounters the player, it will try to flank, or disperse, seek elevated positions or attack from multiple sides. Due to the typo, that switch never happened. Whatever simplistic/one-dimensional behaviour the Alien spawned with, it kept. If the spawn behaviour was to patrol, it will just walk past you. If it was frontal assault, it will do a frontal assault. Many of them just had "hissing menacingly", aswell.

      It's hilarious to me that that bug wasn't caught by ANYONE until 4 years after the game came out, despite being in a .ini file that can easily be viewed and edited with just Notepad. Like, was there just NO quality assurance AT ALL? Nobody proof-reading anything? Nobody wondered why the alien AI was doing NONE of its intended behaviors? Gearbox was a AAA studio even back then, and they couldn't fix such a simple error.

    I personally liked daymare, the ammo management were a nice idea and its almost feels like the game itself changes with the playable character in the story and that jojo Easter egg is pleasant too, especially because I missed it. Too bad every enemy just becomes a bullet sponge on not even high difficulty.

      It's also extremely, and I mean *extremely* unpolished. It has some of the ugliest animations of any game not made by Valve I've ever seen. If you married its core mechanics with the skill and attention to detail Resident Evil 5's combat had, it'd easily be the new king of survival/horror. Instead we get shit like Re4R.

    i have a suggestion, theres this game called streets of rouge, in this game your main goal is to get to the final floor and become the new mayor by taking the current mayors hat
    so depending on how you take the mayors hat, (stealing as a thief, murder, chloroform, etc) the game will have a slightly altered ending
    also if you beat the game without any means of speaking you will get a special ending for that to

    The Godzilla easter egg reminded me about Godzilla Minus Zero, heard it puts alot of Hollywood movies to shame especially Marvel.

    I'm sure it's been mentioned before but the Daymare one is a reference within a reference. There's the obvious "It was me, Dio!" JoJo meme, but since Daymare is very inspired by the original Resident Evil 2, it's also a reference to the JoJo locker in the room where Martine was in the original RE2, which I'm sure the guy you have to "help" is suppose to be an analog for.

    I agree with your stance on Duke Nukem. It fell victim to a 14 year cycle of over hype and it's this kind of development hell that kills franchises and I think Valve knows that too, which is why there has been nothing regarding HL3. Whatever is put out regarding HL3 won't be received well by anyone because of almost 20 years of speculation.

    Breakpoint was leaps and bounds better than Wildlands. Most of it's criticism was fairly earned, if not ironic while also pointing out hypocrisy. The hate came from what it was at release....which ironically was pretty much what Wildlands had become. What bothers me, is that after the backlash, Ubisoft did nothing but commit to fixing the game and did just that...but the game remained a popular punching bag. Fans aren't sending a message at that point, they are just killing a franchise.

    if you're copying a reference are you referencing the reference or the original thing? cause the hat and cane make it near identical to the movie thing the hat and cane in itself are references to Michigan J. Frog
