    Hello, Inga, I have been catching up on all your videos since the first episode. I am totally inspired to use up all my acrylic yarns and invest in natural fibers, dyeing and one day spinning. I'm interested in seeing your knitting technique from your point of view. I'm a yarn thrower looking to learn different techniques, currently, I am mastering the continental. Thanks for the great podcast and the yarns you have a beautiful.

    just a thought- dont buy a large floor loom unless you are really committed. if there is a textile guild near you- many times you can rent time of a loom- and even get help making and warping it. the actual weaving goes fast but its the set up that takes time. i bet you will find someone close by that has a loom that is willing to share. great looking rug. love the stripes.

      Do you have any idea what the technical name is for the loom she showed us in the video? I currently own one of those cheap flat frame loom that is 50 by 40 cm. I can’t make anything longer than 50 cm or wider than 40cm on it. But her loom looks like I can do whatever length on it. Please help me find one like hers online! 😊😊

      @@user-fc3sx2cw5x yes- it is a 4 harness table loom. they are on lots of crafting and art site as well as from big weave loom companies. just search Table Loom 4 harness. they come in all different widths- but just know you will be able to make smaller fabrics on wider looms but not wider. so if its a 18" wide- you cloth will be around 14-16" wide when you take it off. length is limited becuz the warp can only be so long before you run out of space. usually a couple of yards length is typical for table looms

    • @kathykujawa6183
      @kathykujawa6183 3 роки тому +2

      @@user-fc3sx2cw5x ok- you know on your flat loom how you have to pick up every other warp thread before you make a 'shed' or tunnel to pull your yarn thru? well the harnesses help automatically create that opening for you so you can speed up weaving. if you have at least 4 harnesses you can also set-up your warp threads to make twill and jacquard patterns. here is a quick video demo: ua-cam.com/video/jzlDozH1EK8/v-deo.html another video on youtube is here: ua-cam.com/video/Y-THnIaBbDE/v-deo.html

The other day I realised I can ask you because you seem to be happy to explain stuff to me 😊 so the question is: when I make my rug, I have to do three different strips because my loom isn’t wide enough to make the rug in one go. A hint for your weaving.- warping from front of the loom, you can tie a new warp onto your old warp. Be careful the old warp doesn't slip through the huddle before tying on. A little bit of fiddling to get your knots through the huddle and you're set to wind onto back beam.

    Question: I’m currently knitting a colourwork/fairisle cowl, and I’ve done all of the fair isle chart rows. I reached the last 2 rows, and these rows ask for me to knit a plain stockinette in the background colour, so I went ahead and chopped off my other pattern colour. But I’m confused about gauge. Stockinette’s gauge is different to stranded colourwork; stockinette rows tends be wider than stranded colourwork rows. So If I use the same size needle, wouldn’t I end up with a project that became wider? Help please! *In a nutshell, how do I switch from fair isle to plain stockinette in the same project?*

    • @knittingtraditions
      @knittingtraditions  3 роки тому

      It really depends on your gauge, my colorwork is looser then my stockinette(oppoaite to most peoples experience) i recomwnd swatching and then change to the needlesize that gives you the same gauge in stockinette as you have jn your colorwork🥰

    Wonderful episode. Now I have several more patterns for summer tops to check out and living in EC were moving towards our summer so the timing is perfect. I would vote for the green for your other half of the wrap.

    You are the ultimate inspiration for summer tops! I definitely need to add a few to my wardrobe. I am working on Purl Soho's rectangular color block blanket for one of my kids using a variety of knit pick yarns and I also find it to be a comforting knit. The rug you are weaving is such a brilliant idea and seems like the perfect thing to add to your cabin. Happy knitting and I look forward to seeing all your progress next time! 💕

    The rug is so lovely! I am similar that I really struggle to find 'scrappy' projects that I like, maybe it's just a taste thing. It would be super nice to do one thin strip of a neutral down the middle of your rug, sort of tying it all together - just a thought! Beautiful projects and acquisitions as always

    Thanks for your latest episode, lovely to see you again. Well done with your half and half wrap, I'm doing a small version. I think the turmeric colour would look particularly beautiful with your first colour and suits you so well.
