Is the ear tags required beacuse they're not truly wild? if so, what is stopping them of being considered a truly wild species?

Hello! Yes its a government requirement because for the law they are consider domestic animals. What is stopping that? In Portugal what is stopping that from happen is that our law only have domestic and wild animals, not recognizing the semiwild regime. And they cant be considered wild animals because if they were, the final word for them to be release would be from the government and not from us and would be denied since in Portugal reintroductions are always blocked

@@rewildingportugal4143Hello.I was going to ask about these earrings too.
It's a nice initiative, but it doesn't look interesting with earrings. Introducing cattle to replace aurochs is a nice idea, but only in nature reserves. Interestingly, the last Tur fell in Europe, specifically in Poland, in 1627. Perhaps because in our lands only Kings had the privilege of hunting Aurochs/ Tur . But the king of Poland also has merit because they tried to protect him, there was a region in Masovia where until the 15th century there was still a population of over 100 aurochs. They were protected there by a special guard and peasants were forbidden to graze their cattle and even part of the hay for these cattle was taken from the peasants. And everything was counted every few years. The population was steadily declining. Once there were severe frosts and a huge part of the Aurochs died out, probably 50 of them. Then there were only a few left - 3 males and one female. And in 1627 it was recorded that the last female died. Failed to.😢
Today, such cattle could easily be saved. Today it is said that the reason could be that it was the last isolated group of the herd, and therefore already related and more susceptible to diseases.
In Poland, however, we have a second story about the wild horse Tarpan. 😊
The last of his wild herds were caught in the forest and placed in the Zamoyski family. However, later, due to poverty, these horses were distributed to the local population. There they interbred with farmers' horses and that's how some of the Tarpans survived. Later, the Konik Polski breed was created on its basis. This horse has the blood of the real last Tarpans, which is why it was also decided to release them into a nature reserve in Poland. And they do great in the wild.😊
