It took me ages to realize that the ep was about racism. I was so stuck on the social media aspect I didn’t even notice that everyone in Finetime was white🤦♀️. I came to realize I was stuck in my own bubble, oblivious to the hints of racism throughout the episode.

I recognise in your responses that you did see the racism- but could scarcely believe it. The episode stays with you for a good while after. What also dawns on you after a while, is the realisation that the slug monsters were pretty much the good guys. What a great episode. This season has hade a fair number of top tier tales to tell -right up there with the best.
One of the few reactors I've seen notice that Ricky September was kind of short with the Doctor too.
And it was a little shocking considering he seemed to be the only nice one. Other than Gothic Paul. 😆
Yeah, I think it was what you think it was. Subtle hints throughout the episode that are easy to miss as you focus on the obvious social media stuff. Even at the end, I only took it to be elitism...you're not one of the "in crowd" or the 1%ers" or whatever. I got that Lindy was saying you're not one of us, so you're not good enough for us. Had to have it pointed out to me just who the "us" are. That really was a knife twist of an ending we don't often see in Who.

It is what you think it is it's a message about racism as the Doctor has been 14 white incarnations previously he's comes to realise that he's become the victim of racism for the first time the Doctor being the Doctor was willing to still save them regardless anyway personally i don't think Lindy and her group were worth saving and deserved their come up pins.
I found Lindy to be a very very unlikeable character from the get-go i thought she was just a typical spoiled brattish rich millennial but would learn to be a better person as she meets Ricky but instead he was thrown under the bus and the twist that Lindy is not only a sociopath but her and her people were racist as well but when you watch this twice it was hinted that as most of her friendlist on the bubble were white and blocks the Doctor off straight away when he was trying to help her.
It also wasn't made clear in the episode whether Lindy, Ricky and the rest of the group were extrerrestrials or humans living on a colony planet which was finetime but i assume they were aliens as one of the dead bodies we see dragged away at the beginning of the episode had blue blood.
I have to say i had struggled with Ncuti's performance as the Doctor for the first few episodes but it's from this episode where he finally nails it for me and i went "yes" that's the Doctor a very powerful performance from Ncuti.
Ncuti did such a great job in this episode.Some have complained about his tears, but each one has been so powerful.

On a rewatch there are so many subtle racist moments it's scary how many i missed. But that's the point. The only consultation i can take away is that those numbnuts wouldn't last 48hrs. Great reaction as always.

Thanks, Marcella! ⏳ A poignant and timeless message this one explores. The tech-dependency aspect, hopefully humanity will learn to manage. The classism/racism stuff, we're way overdue to have outgrown... but plenty are dragging their feet on that. Perhaps they'll evolve?

I fear what is going on right now. Wr we’re going the right direction but the last 8 years we seemed to have taken massive steps backwards in some ways. And this fall will take even more. We need the doctor to intervene 🤓

yes it was all about white supremacy which you can pick up everything on rewatch ,even down to blocking the doctor straight away without chatting yet talking to Ruby and not blocking her,the Ricky September was intended to be like the doctor in actions

She was rude and insulting to the Doctor, but little more patient with Ruby. Also only white faces on Lindsey's Friend list.
So many little micro aggressions that you don’t notice until you watch the second time.
Despite the slegehammers that Russell is hitting you with I thought this episode was fantastic at showing The Woke's ECHO CHAMBER problem on Social Media where they get so gaslight they can't even function in reality. Absolutely brilliant. Bravo, Russell. :)
