Wow. That’s cold. Haven’t been camping in that cold of weather yet. I have heard of people having issues where it’s super cold and the hose works but the pipes froze before or after the hose. One guy said his hose did fine but the water pipe under his camper froze. Only way to truly get it 100% freeze protected is to get some type of insulation or heat tape around the campgrounds equipment also. Sorry to hear you had to deal with that. Safe camping
What if you found yourself farther away than 25' and had to use an additional hose to reach the pedestal. Which end would you put the heated hose on, the pedestal or the camper? I know it is not recommended, but in the event that you find you need a longer one and you are nowhere near a business that happens to sell heated RV hoses, what would the recommendation be if you were facing sub freezing temps. Fill your tank and pack up your hose until you need to fill it again?
Hey, I run a filtration system that I have mounted to my rear bumper in a box. Water goes from the pedestal to the box, then another hose makes it to the coach. When it's cold, I run the heated water hose to the box, the water coming out of the box is warm enough that it hasn't ever freezed on me yet. So I would run the heated hose at the pedestal, and trickle your faucets, and smoke a bowl
@jamesrich2791 lmao, copy that. Pedestal hated and bowl smoked. Now lmma smoke another one. That's the direction I went in. Rift now I'm just a lot further away than usual, about 75ft so I'm using the heated house plus two 25'. I put the heated one in the middle. I've had no problems. 🤙
My 1st attempt to using a 12' CAMCO heated hose last weekend didn't go so well at my cabin. It leaked somewhere inside the hose liner and came out at the connection. I am returning it and bought a 2nd one at Walmart. We'll see how it turns out this coming weekend?
Good afternoon. Thanks for watching and commenting. To answer your question. Since my city water connection is exposed to the full elements on the outside of my camper, I chose to hook up the other end at the pedestal so I could plug right into the 120 volt plug at the pedestal. The power cord is only at one end of the hose and only about 7’ long so if I switched ends I would have to use an extension cord to get my power and Camco recommends not using an extension cord. If you have any other questions please let me know. Stay Safe!!
Mine I can’t get water to go through it, looks like each end inside has white plastic squeezed together, with thin screwdriver can push through ??!! Any ideas ?
You can change the end you connect the water source to with an adapter that comes with the hose. However they don’t recommend using an extension cord to plug in the heater so most of the time it’s easiest to plug in right near the water source connection
Picked up a 25" yesterday came back to the RV and my filter busted water leak all over the park. Hooked my new hose up w/ filter and no water when I woke up. WHT do you think that happened? Should I not use filter?
Yes I wouldn’t put the filter outside because it’s not protected by the hose. If you have to use the filter I would try to protect it with some type of insulation but it still may freeze, depending on the temperature.
@@JarvisOutdoors thank you. I did just that. Unfortunately I have to use the filter the water out here is full of sulfur & iron. The one that busted b4 I got the heated hose was dark nasty orange color inside, it was only 2 months used. Thank goodness the temps came up but the two nights in below freezing my camco met my needs. I'm super happy I bought it. Ty for your reply. God bless you and your family.
Honestly it totally depends on your camper. Some campers are four season and have insulated and or heated underbelly’s, you can also have or get tank heaters. Our unit it would be a concern for us.
Wow. Sorry to hear that. Mine is still working well. Did the water in the hose freeze? I have heard people thinking the hose was the issue but with super cold temperatures the hose was fine it was either the connection at the camper or the water supply connection that froze because they are exposed to the elements and didn’t allow water to flow. This could definitely happen if your city water connection is on the outside of your camper.
As stated in the video I was not at the campground. Simply connect your your camper then hook up the hose to the water connection at campground and plug in to the nearest gfci outlet. Hope this helps resolve any confusion.
Camco hoses are *NOT Recommended* Read the reviews. Amazon had it rated at 4/5 Star. Not sure how? There are so many negative reviews. Look at the search terms. Leaks, hose blew, ends of hose, expensive, broke. People saying they broke right away. Or 4 broke in one winter. Etc... I'm not talking from personal experience. Just what I've read online.
I found this one that sounds like the best money can buy. ua-cam.com/video/jtIdHq1VNHY/v-deo.html They are very expensive, but it sounds like a one time buy. I'd buy one if I wasn't selling my trailer in a season or two. If anyone has any recommendations, I'm still looking for a quality hose that won't break the bank.
It's a fire hazard do not purchase. Woke up this morning to smoke...... the hose thermostat melted off and almost caught our water cabinet on fire. Thankfully we woke up in time to figure out where the smoke was coming from. Avoid this manufacturer.
Camco's product was such a disappointment for me. It didn't work as well as I hoped it would and the installation process was a nightmare. H&G Lifestyles, on the other hand, was easy to install and has been working flawlessly since day one
Thank you! First time winter living in RV full time. Been staying in ppls homes throughout winter months. Elbow connector is gonna be clutch.
Thanks for sharing this video. Picked one up myself.
My froze up in 8F. I have my therm outside too!

Good luck. Let us know if you have any issues with the second one. Our first one is still going strong! 🤞🏼
Does your hose look like its been spliced together on the plug end?
No not at all! I would recommend contacting the company for help or a replacement. Stay safe.
Thanks man!
Sure thing!
Good video. Question: why did you place the thermostat end at the RV ? Wouldn't it be better at the pedestal ?Thanks

Sorry haven’t seen or heard of this issue
Does the electricity connection always go to the main water source? I am new at this

It doesn't give you warm water in Rv trailer ??
where can you buy washer for camco hoses i have look in plumbing store and hardware store can not find them that thick
I replaced one of mine with a standard garden hose o ring from Ace hardware.
i have tried the thinner one they do not work
Use 2 of the regular ones.

Might be a silly question, but do you have to worry about your water tank freezing?
Honestly it totally depends on your camper. Some campers are four season and have insulated and or heated underbelly’s, you can also have or get tank heaters. Our unit it would be a concern for us.
Great! Thank you for replying!

I bought one it don’t even heat. Yeas the thermostat was in below freezing 5 degree weather actually

He did not actually show how to hook it up at the campgrounds 🙄
