One curious question I have is while you were preparing to make the emergency landing on the Hudson, did you ever think for any moment about the disaster with Ethiopian Airlines Flight 961? That was the accident that was very similar to yours, but way worse. For those who don't know, on November 23rd, 1996, three maniacal passengers hijacked the aircraft, forcing the pilot to fly them to Australia. However, the hijackers' crazed quest ended up dooming the airplane, as they caused the craft to run out of fuel. The pilot was forced to try to land the plane on the sea (the entire event being caught by a beachgoer's video camera), but the plane instead cartwheeled, and broke apart in the water. Only 50 out of the 175 aboard survived. So did that disaster cross through your mind? Would you consider in your scenario, landing on a river is easier than landing on the sea?

Do remember that Concorde was really flown by the Flight Engineer. The pilot merely the jockey! Did you ever meet Rod Lovell who ditched the DC-3 in Botany Bay with just 25 passengers? His previous AAF jets were supersonic. Poor chap he was blamed by the Australian CAA for the ditching when it was their bad maintenance regulatory system that allowed the airline to continue to use over hours engines.
