Security wasn't too bright either, giving me 5 mins to leave the site.

If filming people is a breach of GDPR then all dashcams, gopros and CCTV are also breaching GDPR.
Yes, somebody walking about filming strangers to make videos about them for youtube money is exactly the same as CCTV cameras, used to deter crime or provide evidence if a crime takes place.
