I have the standard AdVintage Raiders fedora myself. I think these are the most accurate "bang for your buck" Indy hats. Looking to pick more up in the future from them. Tomas does an excellent job.
I have a penman raiders about 12yrd old or so. The hat naturally took on a streets of Cairo look after years of sun, rain, snow and travel. It's a very dense hat and has held fantastic as ever and I have never took care of it to give it that worn look. I have been considering a new hat, raiders and been considering the advintage hats. I have seen one guys fedora that looks great and now yours. Your video has helped seal the deal. @ Daniel P - Your Raider's Fedora looks awesome! I just bought an AdVintage Last Crusade Harrison Fedora in Rabbit/Sable. I absolutely love it!! Looks great with my Last Crusade HERO jacket in Pre-Distressed Cowhide by Wested (they made the jackets for the films!) I looked high and low for a screen accurate Last Crusade Fedora (was strongly considering Herbert Johnson) then I stumbled upon AdVintage. For the price, the Fedora's are fantastic!! The gang over at Herbert Johnson was a huge help and really friendly in answering my questions. But their prices were too steep. I'm in the process of building a screen accurate Last Crusade Cosplay for my job (I'm a professional Cosplayer for a movie theater I work for.)
I agree with you that a hat doesn't need to be a Herbert Johnson. Fact #1. They don't use the original felt any longer, which we all know was rabbit. #2. The original maker is no longer with us. #3 the original block was lost many years ago. So, having a Herbert Johnson, and I'm sure they make a great fedora just as many do, with nothing being original any longer longer, it's just paying for a company name with nothing else original. Your fedora looks great, great video and thanks for posting this to show what you get for the money.
Two years later the adVintage felt fedoras now are in the five fifty to six hundred fifty price range. , that is just their current price rage. Right now he's too busy to take new custom orders. Beautiful hats.
I just went off other hats I owned. You can find measurements online from other hats you like or tell your hatter to go with something in the the general shape of an indiana jones hat or whatever you fancy. You could even tell them about your build or face shape and ask what they may think. Crown heights and brim length may look better on different people too. As long as you have confidence you can really wear whatever you want though 😉
Can I ask what height you are and if you specified any crown and brim sizes when ordering? This is something I've been considering heavily while going through the ordering process and I think the height sizing compliments you very well.
Can you please do a comparison of the different shades for an Advintage fedora? I want a Raiders style one but I think I want it in true sable instead of Raiders sable
I don't have all of the different shades so I can't make a video on that . This one is the true sable which a bit darker. Raiders sable is a bit lighter. I wanted mine darker because I know it will fade in the sun after years of wear like anything. But honestly, it's hard to tell the difference. You could check the Advintage website to see the different colors in different lighting or contact thomas. There is a forum called club obi wan where I believe a member posted all three colors too.

I ordered an advantage gay streets of Cairo with a lower crown! What crown height did you ask for? I asked for mine to be 0.8 cm shorter than the normal 13.8cm crown height for my 57cm hat size
Congratulations, I asked him to decrease the height of the crown by 1cm lower than be usually makes it. I'm the video I have a size 56 so I know your pain of having it a bit too high.
As an old hat man myself, 69 years old, I have worn many styles, I would love a real Indy style again, being a retired Archaeologist myself.

What are the measurements of the cup (height) and the flaps (width of the flaps), measured in centimeters?
I think you mean crown height and brim length. 13.5cm height, and 7cm(front and back), 6.6cm (sides)

About 3/4 inch. However, I still think it's too tall. Making me think it wasn't lowered.
