      Newbie here. Great tips and I need one more. How do you tell the difference between inside and outside of project, especially if using yarn under. It all looks the same to me.

    • @PlayHookywithMe
      @PlayHookywithMe  2 місяці тому +2

      @@kjkernSerendipity great question. The easiest way to keep track is to keep that initial tail when you make your magic ring. That way you always know that is the backside of your work. So as your piece is starting to curve up , you know you want that tail ti be inside of the shape you’re making .
      Does that make sense?

    Your work is so precise, Roz. I have made a few toys and have liked the outcome. I think your best tip is to pin the pieces in place before attaching. I never knew about the under or over differences and I can see that tip being beneficial. I like the idea of a kit as it contains what you need and that each cotton color will be the same yarn type. Another great and helpful video!!💖Thanks for sharing!

    Your tips are wonderful. These projects are harder than they appear. I made a bear using acrylic yarn and there were lots of gaps. You just have a very hard time getting it tight enough. That was a great tip to use cotton. The pattern I used didn't mention that. It turned out super cute. ☮️🌍🌲🌷

      Hi Jennie! I had the same issue with the wool I used for the bunny. Even with going down in hook size , it felt like I needed to go even smaller. Just so much stretch to the yarn. 🧶 💕💕

      And just like you said, dropping hook size is really hard on your hands. It is most likely why we see younger crocheters do this craft. 🌷🌷

    Hey Roz, i always look forward to your videos. I’ve been crocheting for many many years. I’m always learning new things and your channel is a breath of fresh air. Your ideas, tips, tricks, patterns and the beautiful colors you blend together. Years ago when i was first introduced to amigurumi I had a hard enough time pronouncing it let alone crocheting it. I always thought to myself… what’s the point???? Unless you have children grandchildren etc, WHY WOULD YOU BOTHER???? Well….. we’ve all heard there’s a small child in every one of us. I enjoy making them and giving them away. They’re works of art! Some have taken me several days/weeks to make. I’ve kept several for myself. They make me happy!!! Thanks for all you do! ❤

      Yes!! When people ask why , I admit, I’m always surprised because I just love them so much. They make me happy . I learned how to knit just so I could make the little cotton rabbits that are so popular.
      They all just sit on my shelf 😆😆😆❤️
      Thanks for sharing your story. Have a great week, Donna. ❤️

    Good morning Roz
    It's very cute. I should try one. I have crocheted for over 50 years and I agree with you, it would be a little hard for a brand new beginner but with some experience you could make it.
    Do you just keep them to make you smile because they do, they sure are adorable? I'm sure some people sell them and some give them to children. I just have always wondered what has brought on their popularity.
    As always, with all your amazing tips you make everything look easy. Thank you Roz.
    I so appreciate you and your channel. Have a blessed day! 😊❤

      Personally, I just make them for my own pleasure. I jenjoy looking at them . 💕I was an illustrator for children’s publishing for over 20 years so I think I’m just attracted to “cute” . My shelves are full of children’s books 😆

    Hi, Roz. What is the craziness with these little toys? I’ve only recently became aware of them and am wondering why folks make them in abundance?

    • @PlayHookywithMe
      @PlayHookywithMe  2 місяці тому +1

      They’ve been popular for a number of years so I’m not sure. I made my first one about 15 years ago.
      Maybe it’s connected to the rise in popularity for crochet with the younger generation. Teenagers and young adults are more interested than ever ! Toys are cute, relatively inexpensive and fun to make.
