If you're curious, there was a commented speedrun of the game in ~2h30 during the SGDQ this year. The video is available on the Games Done Quick channel.
So, last night, on my first attempt at Super Jump, I got 31 hits. Not quite as many as your 33, but I still beat 30, and that's what's important. I could definitely feel myself losing focus and straining hard as my hit counter was getting into the 20s, so I'm glad I was able to hold on until after I reached 30. (1:58) Hi, Yoshis! (4:53) Ow. (4:57) Whew, you probably needed that gold to have a good chance at the quota there. (6:09) Yeah, last night, I was having some bad luck, and got only 18 and 17 points at the mini-game the first two times, but then on my third attempt, I reached 20 easily with still over 10 seconds left to go. Also, I noticed that the mini-game gives you 40 seconds in this version. The SNES version gives you only 30 seconds. (7:18) Ah, in the SNES version, the next target is always 2 more than your highest score, but in this version, the next target seems to always be 2 more than the previous target. (8:38) I wonder if it may have been an emulator issue for you when you needed to push the buttons in between beats on the SNES version in the past. I recall the beat being perfectly fine on console, but then being out of sync when playing on an emulator. (9:25) GOOOAAALLL!!! Yeah, those button prompts in the corner definitely help for sure.
I'm glad they fixed the timing for the Yoshi race in the remake. Was actually able to brute force it in this version as opposed the original where I could never pull it off.
I certainly had a lot easier time with the Mushroom Derby in this version. I think it only took me two tries as opposed to 5-10 like in runs of the SNES version...
I had the worst time trying to do the race mini game in this version when I was using my Pro Controller and my Switch on the dock connected to my TV. When I used the Switch off the dock with the JoyCons connected - no problem. I was the opposite of you: I had zero problems with the SNES version and all kinds of issues with the remaster.
@@HCBailly I NEVER got it right on the pro controller. I was dead-on when I played the mini game off the dock. I have no doubt you did your due diligence for this video. It’s why I watch your LPs and have advised my husband to do the same now that he’s finally picked up Final Fantasy VI for the first time.
Hmm, there's 3 Yoshi Eggs here. Why are these here? Well remember these eggs for "Later", everyone! The Mushroom Derby was ONE of the MOST ANNOYING MiniGames in the GAME, MAINLY because the instructions LIE! Yeah those instructions that Toad gives you, are W-R-O-N-G WRONG!
Man, I would have killed for those indicators back in the original. I have basically zero rhythm to begin with, so I was useless at it.
2:02 This is how Yoshi sounds like: We-how!
8:08 Cookies!
8:59 Beat Boshi! Like a boss!
Yoshi! So happy!

It's Boshi Time!

The mushroom derby, was an absolute nightmare in the SNES version, good they fixed it.
Piranha plant: Mario’s getting away, ghompa: this is your vault!
Continuing on through the pipes!
4:30 - 4:33 - Two popped out pretty quick.
The SNES Mushroom Derby was like the French horn part in a Sousa march 😂 One AND two AND one AND two AND...

I got the timing in the SNES version, but the updated music threw me off here, which I'm also glad it was easier to brute force.
I usually go for 200 cookies here. The RNG can be stupid as it is 1.5 to 1 most of the time. 10 to 1 is the most rare.
(I'm Captain Boshi von Ronsenburg of Yo'ster Isle!)
(Don't believe Bowser's lies!)
(Boshi lives!)
Goomba Thumping feels great this time around. I don't remember being able to bounce from one goomba to the next so consistently in the same jump
Good thing the instructions don't lie this time around unlike the SNES version.
Faceplant counter: 14, same as before

Wow, a rare video not released at 8am.
Yeah, I wasn't feeling well yesterday, but woke up fresh today, so I decided to get an episode going for today, still.
BO knows racing

That's one of the reasons I did my test run with the Switch Pro controller, so I could get used to the timing on the wireless connection.

Yeah the game not lying to you makes the derby mini game a lot easier.
:)
nice video
Hcbailly, why do you focus on jump so much? Does it gain more power the more you use it?
Hcbailly if you wana attempt the 100 hit challenge I suggest you use a wired controller since it decreases the input delay or so I’ve heard
Yoshi!
Honestly I had to use all of the cookies for speed. As I genuinely didn't understand the yoshi mini game.
I couldn’t ever do the Goomba game on the SNES version!

Over A+B, was B+A?
How many uses of Jump do you need to max it out?
It boosts by +1 permanently every second jump. It takes about 250-255 jumps to increase the power to max.
Huzzah
I really hate the Yoshi Derby minigame, is so annoying minigames that depend of Rhythm
