I like 12 volt LED lighting, saves the overhead power loss of an inverter.
I actually have one of the older style, purchased at an Amish hardware store.
I put it in a clamp-on heat-lamp fixture w/ reflector
Yeah I have several of those fixtures, too. I wired up my whole shed with 12V DC lighting with regular old ceramic sockets from Home Depot. Been working great for almost 10 years. Does yours have the dimming knob? I find that helps save a ton of energy by dialing out just enough light output.
@@LDSreliance yup, has the dimmer, just not sure what wattage, but I think it is the bigger one.
Very cool. If you want to try a new one let me know. Maybe we can work out a deal. Hit me up at ldsreliance@gmail.com.
I've started getting away from the 12v DC lights. I'm moving toward 5V lights because of the abundance of USB ports and battery banks everywhere. With the use of trigger boards old 12v lights could be retrofitted to work with USB PD.
Interesting. I'm sticking with them. There are tons of options and they are much more efficient than AC. The light output on a 5V bulb would be very limited due to the amperage limitations of USB. At most you would get 10W in a perfect world. That is like equivalent to 80W or so incandescent? Still really good but limited.
*EDIT* Nevermind, you said USB PD. What bulbs use USB PD?
ok
Thanks, David!
