Hi Seraphim; thank you for your videos. Do you still have a lecture series on icons?
Also I was wondering your thoughts regarding offering incense to saints and their icons- and the distinction between this and latria?
      God bless

@@joshuadonahue5871 Interesting. I studied under Kline in the late 90s and considered myself a "Klinean". I can hear interpretive moves Kline is famous for in Reformed circles. Of course, Kline's legal framework is of no interest to SH but I believe Kline's ongoing contribution won't be that legal framework but his work on the Holy Spirit and the Image of God. If only Kline had read and known the Fathers.

Depends what you mean by worship. St David was the object of prostrations in the Old Testament and so was the Ark of the Covenant.
Many texts translate "honor" as worship. So even the term "worship" with regards to whether or not something is idolatry should be clarified as "worship only due to God being given to creatures".

@@iakov1906 I suppose I'm talking about the specific adoration and awestruck view of the Creator of everything. Whatever you can call that special feeling only due to The Father. I'm sure my wording may not be completely accurate but I'm trying to use a word to describe the 1st Commandment, I believe.

@@danielwatcherofthelord1823It appears that your original comment was meant to counter the video or perhaps Orthodox ideas of worship and veneration more generally. Did I read it correctly? If so, do you see the definition of worship you provided above in conflict with Orthodox practice or with anything said in the video?

The bible is not developing a concept of sin. Concepts are the problem. Fantasy world. The definition of Idolatry is applying living qualities to non living things. Bibles don't talk.
You need to have a working definition of Idolatry first.
Laws don't judge. Laws don't govern. Souls do. Souls teach, Souls say.

Almost anything could be an idol, or achieve the same end that idols lead to. A persons "good work" can become an idol. Treasures on earth are idols. Icons, relics, rosaries, are all idols.
