You just saved my sanity! I bought a 2023 1025R and have had it a week now and I've been racking my brains out trying to figure out what this garbage mower deck manual is telling me. I've also got a 1/2" difference side-to-side. You, sir, are awesome!
Thank you for the video, very helpful, not like the owners manual that skips a very important step, (releasing deck weight off the adjustment buckles).
Thanks for the video. I bought a JD 380X 48" mower 4 years ago and just last week got the 1025 and neither one of them were even close to level straight from the dealer ship.
Great video, thank you. I was wondering if you had a video showing where all the grease points are. I have a 2019 and I cant find anything in the manual.
Thank you. I’m sorry but I don’t. This past spring, I cleaned the hydraulic fluid screen, changed the filter and replaced the hydraulic fluid and greased it but I didn’t film it. I won’t grease the whole tractor again until the spring but I’ll be sure to film it.
Thank you the manual really is confusing and not very detailed I have just levelled my side to side and it is cutting level now. Just wanted to know if anyone has a video demonstrating setting the mower deck and related back to factory specs?
Lol, I actually got fed up with it, and 2 days ago took it into the shop. My guy Boone got it set up. There are three bolts behind the left rear tire that need loosened and then you can adjust it. John Deere recommends against messing with these bolts, but my guy has done it before and fixed it up for me now I'm mowing at 4 inches, even a bit higher if i oulll it up all the way. I think they come like that from the factory cuz I've got two 1025rs and had the same issue. Taking the 2017 model in next week. I'm really surprised you don't find anything online turn on UA-cam about this issue. Cheers!
Thank you sir! If you don't release the weight, per your video, getting that pin back in is almost impossible. Mine might be a little older, but not much and similar design. i am going to go back out there and get that fixed. What's funny is that I had the bucket up front for the last few years and mowed like that. In that configuration it mowed just fine. But this year I thought I would try it without the bucket and it was cutting low on one side. I guess it was leveled before with the bucket on. I really think JD should amend their owner's manual. Those instructions are awful.
Here's a question for you. I have a 1023e with a 54d deck with the drive over ramps or what ever you want to call them. The grease fitting on the right side of the deck isn't in line with the hole for the grease fitting. Local john deere set it up. I'm going to see if there are more holes on the green ramp they took off
I also have the drive over ramps but don’t remember having an issue with the holes not lining up. I’ll check and let you know. Was also working on a video for maintenance and going over all the fittings but haven’t had the time to finish it.
👍 I just checked mine. I have the 60 inch deck. The right ramp has a hole for the zerk, the left ramp doesn’t go over the plastic cover where the zerk is located.
Update. I turned the turnbuckles to the maximum height and NOW i have a maximum mow height of 4" and if I mow with rockshaft all the way back, I'm mowing at 4.5" On a semi related note: now the mowing height numbers for the dial are off but that's not a big deal. Thank you so much for making this video.

Thank you, glad I could help.
Really helpful! the manual is as stated "worthless, or incomplete at best".

Your welcome!

It’s mind boggling that when they’re prepping it for a customer to take delivery that this hasn’t been checked.
Great video!!! I was having such trouble doing this!!! Thank you
Welcome. Glad I could help. Happy mowing!
Such a great video. Thanks for puttin' this out there!
Welcome
Thank you! I was trying to mow at a higher height and the highest I could get my deck was around 2-3/4”. Got er up to 4 1/4” now!
Welcome. Happy mowing.
Also check pitch from front to back. 1/4 -1/2" down in front creates the best suction, discharge and cut.
I’ll have to check that out.
How do you adjust front to back?
I’ll have to check on that, mine is good front to back.
Thanks. I'm trying to help my husband troubleshooting.
Good luck. I’m gonna let my wife know she’s slacking 😁
THANK YOU! The manual ('21 1025R) is a bit obfuscatious about adjustments.
Thank you for this!!!! Super helpful!
Welcome!
Thank you!
Welcome!
Awesome, thanks for video. Any idea how it gets out of adjustment?
My guess is it wasn’t adjusted right when the dealer installed it.
Great video..
Thank you for sharing... 😎
Welcome
Great presentation. Thanks.
Thanks you.
Very good. Thanks

Always start with checking tire pressures and make sure they are equal. 2 lbs difference will throw your deck off
Good video. I have a 2019. The turn buckles are a bit different but same concept.
Glad to help.
I have an older 2018 model. The turnbuckles on it are a PITA! this is so much easier.
Glad I could help.
Thanks, this is a big help

Thanks! Very helpful!! Now, could you, or someone tell me how to get the height adjustment know to turn past 3.5???
I leave mine set at 3 but I know what you mean. Mine is difficult to turn beyond that as well.

I found the problem. After getting on the floor to look there is a hole in more the zerk is there

I just bought a used 2021 1025R and the mowing height is around 2.5 inches even when the cut dial is set to 4. This might be the solution.
Update. I turned the turnbuckles to the maximum height and NOW i have a maximum mow height of 4" and if I mow with rockshaft all the way back, I'm mowing at 4.5"

Outstanding!
I just got mine and looks way off going to try this. I also put it in the highest cutting setting but goes all the way down.
When is it dropping down?
