2016 SFEDF Kalinga Manbuka

Manbuka is a Kalinga song composed by Kalinga culture bearer, Jenny Bawer Young, resident of Pittsburg, CA from Lubuagan, Kalinga. It translates to “Come on, let’s all work together as a community. Let’s build rice terraces, it’s a source of life.” Based on this I choreographed the dance segment starting from dawn as the community gathers women bringing their baskets with food while men bring their axes to break down rocks to build rice terraces frames.
