I was a member of the band, Madison Revue ..in San Antonio ..around the same time as the Sir Douglas Quintet …they were our contemporaries and we loved them
RIP Doug Sahm-- Freddie Fender made my life much better due to your incredible lyrics and music---forever missed.
Loved this song when it came out, 1969. Then I ended up living in Mendocino for almost 50 years. Every line rings true to this day. Thanks Doug, Augie, and all
But why did you move from Mendocino? (keyboard sounds)

I know who these guys are because of Uncle Tupelo's, "Give Back The Key To My Heart" Truly amazing music. There should be a movie on this guy someday.
This is quality stuff, much better than today's shite. All we get now is (c)rap.
Absolutely agree.
i agree
1969, in the age of twelve, this had been my first vinyl record. Then I urgently need a record player of my own, and I got one for Christmas, cause I did`nt wont to use my parents player.
Love Freddy and all his brilliant singers /band members all the way from Gladstone Queensland Australia
This is what America is about...Different people from different cultures all playing together to make a great sound that is a great example of the melting pot that this country strives to be.

I remember 1969. I used to listen to this song on my car radio after taking my girlfriend home on Saturday night. Having a fabulous girlfriend and listening to this song I was on a high. Who needed drugs? Still love this song after 55 years. It didn't work out with my girlfriend due to my interfering parents. One day I'll get to Texas.
GREAT TEX-Mex band...Freddie & Flaco!...They were Great!
I loved this. I hope to find more.
Too true, Sharon :: Freddie, Doug, and Flaco JImenez were a great line-up, but sadly nothing lasts forever...... But we still have some videos we can view....
Freddie dropped more panties in the 70's than Coway twitty!!!

WOW! What a band of superstars... Freddie, Flaco, Sir Douglas, to name a few... What a great song. Tornadoes are something else...
The best accordion player ever.

😄😄I'm very pleased to know I'm not the only one that loves the song but when last did you play it.
Freddy cracks me up ! Just lookin at Doug smiling
La versión de Texas tornados es mucho más armoniosa y mejor con todo respeto ya que transita fluidamente entre el tex mex puro y la polca norteña...una exquisitez al oído de esta súper banda
I love this band.. I love Freddy Fender too. What a musician!💯🎻🎷🎸📯

Mendocino was also the greatest hit of Michael Holm in germany, german schlager music in 1969. It Was holms greatest success. He was Not only a popular singer, he wrote and produced Songs. For me he is one of the best at german schlager. Holm took the Song mendocino from the original Version of Doug sahm.

This is not music, these are divine and angelic sounds that seem to come directly from the open sky, where on top of small white clouds are placed in the form of angels, instrumentalists and singers. Congratulations, that we enjoy immensely. 😀😀😊😊😍😍😘😘🥰🥰❤❤💔💔❣❣💕💕💞💞💓💓💗💗💖💖💝💝💥💥
Never get tired of Doug's music, RIP Doug

One of the best concerts I have ever heard in my life!
'Mendocino' always was a personal favourite. Seeing the band live on stage here.... WOW what a brilliant, high energy, talented lineup. And the ultimate test of great muso's, they sound even better live than recorded.
Damm! What a band! Flaco pounding on those keys and killing it! I don't think we'll ever see that again. I'm sure glad we have these recordings though.
Texas Tornados forever! Firme!
That's Auggie Meyers on the organ, Flaco is on the accordion. Unless that's what you meant but when someone says 'keys' one sees something like a keyboard or piano.
Flaco is still playing. I love these guys!

MENDOCINO, AND ALL TIME FAVORITE ❤️❤️ OF MY HOME AND FAMILY ❤️❤. FANTASTIC BAND ❤❤. GREAT 👍👍 MUSIC 🎵🎶 AND VERY BEAUTIFUL VOICE ❤️❤️. CONGRATULATIONS 👏👏.
Freddie's tenor voice makes this version. Probably the best version of a lesser of Doug's songs. You got to love Augie and Flaco as well.
They knocked it out of the park again! this group every one a personality everyone sexy the music - never a bad song. They are top and wonderful!
As posted somewhere else before, good music knows no borders or expiry date.
Ran into Augie recently at a walmart

@@o.d.b.5344 I saw Flaco in Brussels in June 1999 it was great !!
I worry about the 16 dislikes on this incredible song and group of musicians. Those were the glue and crayon eaters in grade school I'm sure.
They are relatives of Helen Keller(deaf)
I was born on the island called Lakeba, in the Fiji Islands...no electricity but a paradise, and with this song to sing along with walking down the beach with the other children. I was about nine years old then. Today, while cleaning up my kitchen, this song just came to me....after all these years... OMG!! I ran right to my computer and turned it on...here. Memories!!......
Texas. 🎵 is soil Leo’s for free to use for a good 😌 yea. Ok
Feeling it now though I don't recall knowing it at all before .
Good memories!! Beautiful Lakemba👍

You may get more mileage knowing that Texas Tornadoes used to be Sir Gilbert fake British Invasion. Further and farther, maybe either one played a part in American Invasion, Northern Soul, which was all night dancing every Saturday night for decades in northern England, no alcohol served, to FAILED American soul songs. Wigans Casino, did Sir Gilbert or Texas Tornadoes ever play there? No, too successful.
I don’t think u can get sick of this great song 🎵 🎶🎵😇😂❤️😅
Heartening to see & hear mixed band playing music in perfect harmony. Bravo!
👍🎵🎶🎼👍🇷🇸
@@ivkeika2243 Can't argue with that.
Blijft een ongelooflijk nummer, Oorspronkelijk van The sir Douglas kwintet ook al met Doug Sham en Augie Meyers. Met de Texas Tornados klinkt dit nummer nog altijd super!!!!!!!!
I share a birthday with Doug. This is my song I listen to when I'm depressed
God bless everyone
I love this Song, thank you Doug sahm and Texas Tornados 🇨🇱😍🇩🇪🤗🇺🇸😍
Absolutely beautiful , such a wonderful band! Each and every one of them was so breathtaking and so talented !
Wow! Großartig! Hört sich gut an! Vielen lieben Dank für's Reinstellen und auch das Teilen mit uns!
👍🎶🎵🎶🙂
Die Familie Sahm verlassen Deutschland zu Rock ‘n’ Roll in Texas. Yeah!
Amazing the record company made the name "Sir Douglas Quintet" to make it more British Invasion sounding!!! I admit I was fooled til I was stationed in Lubbock Tx in 71 and learned about TX Music, and began to understand all the roots. Augie. Doug. Guy. These guys made it!! anyone remember 13th Floor Elevators?
Back in the Sixties as a teenager, I too was fooled into thinking they were British. Carnaby St. clothes, the name and the Vox organ. Only Brits used Vox gear. Paul Mac on Vox bass and Amps.
The British invasion put many American bands on life support. I remember seeing the Everly Bros. at the Edgewater Hotel in Montreal, Canada 1968, playing for small $$$. Ironically it was the Everlys that influenced so many British acts.
Nagyon tetszik,ez a szám,és jól játszanak. Szuper!
my dad was the band manager..
For the original band? Sir Douglas Quintet?
@@philbrown1474 I wish...Doug ended up as the guitarist/writer for the Texas Tornadosz which my dad managed. Crazy stories from the 90s. Dude was a virtuoso at music in general, and guitar specifically. Hyper talented. Like an alien amongst humans. He had his demons too..
This is the Tornadoes:
Doug Sahm, Augie Meyers, Ernie D, Flaco Jimenez..who am I forgetting? Speedy Gonzales...of course..Mr. Freddy Fender.
Doug could play full classical pieces of music on the piano by the time he was 15.. he was truly a gem.
Mendocino, an all time favorite of my home and family. Super band.
Von Sir Douglas Quintett hat mir viel besser gefallen
