- I asked you guys if you had any Persona ships and you absolutely provided. Covers everything from your normal stuff like Yusuke X Futaba or Elizabeth X P3MC, to more wild ones like Takemi X Kawakami and Akechi X Ryuji. Thanks again to everyone who participated!

Okay you know what, I can see that happening if we ever see the P5 cast as adults in future games and if it’s confirm both Ann and Ryuji are single still. The exchange would probably be like:
Ann: So how’s life been for ya Ryuji?
Ryuji: Pretty well, my track team students be doing great for the up coming track finals and even wanted to hang with ol’ coach here for ramen. You?
Ann: My modeling career has been going pretty high ever since I been keeping up with my training and diets for it, though I been a bit lonely lately with having no time to hang with Shiho or finding a guy to go out with.
Ryuji: Wow Takamaki, I’m surprised that no guy would want to date you, then again you probably would just let him watch you stuff your face with chocolate cornets.

You are definitely right, I may ship them romantically, but I also ship them platonically because of how much they became best friends to each other after the whole Kamoshida accident and how chill they are with each other while making jabs too. Honestly they’re the only boy and girl duo the protagonist meets and befriends that actually like each other and can joking around without it becoming a bad problem(Yosuke and Chie are friends of course, but their bickering can become more negative possibility if they dated. I may haven’t played P3 yet and only have basic knowledge on it and P4, but I’m pretty sure Yukari hates Junpei at the beginning).
@@Rosa-he6xb yukari has like two lines across the entire series where she is nice to junpei. One example i can think of is late in pq, where she decides to be honest with him and says “you’re pretty cool, junpei“, to which junpei replies by being in actual shock because she never says anything nice about him
I personally don't ship them but I guess I can see why others do. But to me, their relationship feels a little too sibling-like for me to feel comfortable shipping them

I don’t really ship it romantically but Hifumi and Yusuke would get along well. They go to the same school and Yusuke’s at least heard of her before. I could picture them both being single on Valentine’s Day, so Hifumi tests out shogi strategies on him, and Yusuke uses her to practice, and draws her as the empress of her kingdom of shogi pieces.

@@hikawagetsbitches eh it was just Chie and Yukiko were just getting startled dumb heat of moment gag once time. It was also Yukiko's fault. Chie already went helping Yu and Yosuke out whenever they needed extra help at Junes later like busy summer week 15/8 already made up for it. And while they do care as friends like when Chie tried to stop the group from becoming murderers for killing Namatame or looking sad when he said he finally avenged Saki. Yosuke making fun of Chie not being "girly" and she getting back at it. Then again most of the IT acting that way for the insensitive things, Yukiko, Rise, Naoto, Kanji, Teddie. Chie, like Lisa and Yukari, genuine stated fact she would never be into him and genuine straight up uncomfortable with the idea. They literally state fact that they would never be into each other and just platonic siblings friends like Eikichi, Lisa and Junpei, Yukari and Yosuke, Chie. Platonic siblings take that but this's just uncomfortable and toxic as hell. The girls in IT just genuine stating multiple time none of them is interested in Yosuke. Fact is they would never date and would never be into each other.
Yosuke and Chie is just platonic siblings dynamic at most like Eikichi, Lisa and Junpei, Yukari type. It isn't hard to see this same dynamic in Persona games. Platonic siblings take that but this's just uncomfortable and toxic as hell. It states genuine fact clear that they would never be into each other.

@@kamatari1220 Akechi doesn’t hate joker, maruki said so when he said that their relationship wasn’t based on hatred or ill will. I think that on the first ranks of Akechi’s confidant akechi actually hated joker but as he came to know him more he realised that he wasn’t that bad.I think joker doesn’t hate akechi because he understands his situation and how they are both different sides from the same coin. Joker was just lucky that he had guidance and friends

I know this ship is so weird but I love Takemi and Maruki. Starting out with they're both doctors, then their personalities contrast but they both equally care about their patients. Also I feel like their relationship would be very....interesting.

Actually, when she does that, he responds by mocking the attempt and saying that she shouldn't act like a character from an anime. Ryuji also says that he finds her personality abrasive, and that her looks are what make up for it. I have tried to see from the perspective of the fan base that they are close friends so it would make sense for them to end up together, but Ryuji loves women who are super attractive (he finds Ann attractive but doesn't like her personality), while Ann wants someone who doesn't just like her for her looks, so they may be great friends, but logically from what we know about them, it wouldn't work out and Ann tried but Ryuji didn't want it. This is why I will always see them as friends and not as a couple, and why I ship Joker x Ann for my main ship, although Shiho x Ann is also pretty good.

Ann and Futaba is kind of interesting. Never thought about it before, but if I'm remembering the early Futaba scenes, Ann was the first one to successfully hang out with Futaba and make her feel comfortable. Plus, she helps her out with all the beach stuff. It also felt like she always treated Futaba as "normal" focusing more on making Futaba feel comfortable instead of saying she needs to change.
Akechi: Literally smiles while pulling the trigger in the head of a teenager in cold blood.

Aw man you didn't mention the "Mutual Declaration of Everlasting Hatred" having such romantic and passionate undertones with the heartwarming "Sunset Bridge" theme playing under it. It's SO FREAKING GOOD AND FUNNY. He literally throws his glove at you to really seal the deal of the "Mutual Declaration of Everlasting Hatred". I love it so much. This is the best "Mutual Declaration of Everlasting Hatred" I've ever witnessed because of how much passion, respect, and weirdly enough romantic tension there is behind it.
Also Maruki gets as close to possible as saying "You're in love with each other." which is really saying something considering the animosity you two share.
Maybe I'm just really dense but I never got the impression that Joker hated Akechi.
It could just be my head canon but I thought Joker went along with the "Mutual Declaration of Everlasting Hatred" because Akechi felt so strongly about it. I've always thought Joker understood where Akechi was coming from and never really held it against him.
I feel like one of the most underrated ship in persona 5 royal is Akechi x Yoshizawa. A majority of Akechis lines towards her shows genuine concern like "YOSHIZAWA WAS HIT! WHY WASNT ANYONE WATCHING HER?!" or something along those lines and despite how he acts towards everyone else in the Phantom Thieves he just seems generally calmer around her then anyone else.

Idk what it is about it, just Minakos super bubbly personality rubbing off on Aigis and helping her become more human and emotive seems super wholesome to me.
Also for some reason I can see Minako being the sort of person to flex on other people about her robot gf, and I find that hilarious.
Probably because she's a female MC with multiple viable male love interests to focus on instead, which is like finding a river in the desert to persona fans.

So to explain, I was only giving an educated guess as to why this particular gay ship didn't catch on in fanfic popularity unlike say Joker x Akechi. It wasn't meant to be the be-all-end-all reason for anything. Truth is some things just don't catch on.
As for gay rep in general, again I was talking about fanfiction. What the devs of the games do isn't up to me, nor was it the basis of the question I was responding towards.

Not an actual ship, but I would want to see all the police and detective Persona characters working on a huge case. Everyone from Kurosawa, Akihiko, Dojima, Chie, Naoto, Narukami, Adachi, Sae, Makoto, Akechi, Zenkichi, and any potential P1 or P2 characters (haven't played those games) to all come together since they make a large and comprehensive group.
I want a manga/anime based off that. They can be a secret Persona Police force.

Also Sae and Akihiko is a freaking power couple. I just wanna see how Dojima and Zenkichi would interact since they have such similar situations. Maybe even have Nanako and Akane being friends, too! I think they're similar ages, not too familiar with the Persona timeline.
Afaik, I recall watching a video about past persona references being mentioned in P5, and one of them was about a p2 character, Akihiko (or another p3 police character), and Chie being mentioned as being in the same police force?
Tho I never encountered the reference myself in the game, I think there’s a video somewhere that mentions it

Sumi says it to him and declares her love directly instead of a indirect way that everyone else asking. Also the fact that Sae wasn't a romance in the game kinda proves it not to be canon. I think she was included in that romance OVA because of fan-service.
I know Makoto x Joker is like, the most basic of basic ships, but I would be lying if I said I didn't think they were perfect.
Truth, I've gone as far as to think about the financial futures of the MC and the P5 girls.
In my opinion makoto and ren work the best in this regard as well.
Joker has a real skill set as a cafe owner/manager that develops over the course of the game.
Makoto obviously wants to be PC and she's got the will and the witt to make it happen.
These two professions in Tokyo yield a comfortable life.
Haru is the easy answer for financial security but I think that couples do best when both partners contribute/strive for each other and their dreams.
It's implied that futaba is also loaded but my point with haru still applies.

Eh, I feel like Makoto would basically be Sae Niijima, especially if she's gunning for police commissioner. Joker would have to be more of the stay-at-home coffee dad for that to work. But all the Wild Card protagonists are basically supermen that can do everything so he could probably make it work.
Haru and Joker feels like they'd be the café power couple. But class divide is a real thing and that would be the biggest obstacle to their relationship. Haru isn't just rich, she's modern capital aristocracy. She's the first blue-blood of her family name. Her dad was working class, but she was raised in it fully and may as well live in a different world. And that really fucks with relationships between social classes. I don't think people really realize, but her mistrust of people who are after he money is a major concern in her Confidant content. And having money also creates a barrier-of-entry for the poorer member of the couple -- Joker can't just take a week off to fly overseas.
And there are people who actually have internalized the ideology that _you_ are a prole who deserves nothing except what your lords deign to give you. (Basically people like Haru's old fiancee.) And those people are just in Haru's social circle by default.
Maruki x Inchinose : my headcannon after Strikers' ending is that when Inchinose takes Sophia and travels Japan, she gets into a cab whose driver is none other than Ex-Dr. Maruki. They found out about both being researchers at the top of their field: AI and pscience thingy :) and both had changed thanks to the Phantom Thieves (both being second-to-last or end game boss as well). This would also keep the "fate" theme running. Maruki isn't going to pursue his previous lover and wants to start a new life. Inchinose is feeling alive in a very very very long time. And her heart pounds for Maruki :)))
Imo, they would be quite a cute couple with Maruki giving Inchinose treats every time she sits and let him "consult" her. Oh and did I tell you Maruki would probably finds a way to brings Sophia into the real world with his persona if he hasn't lost it completely. Now she can give Makoto those much needed physical stimulation for her back ;)
I ship Joker and Makoto because they are basically co leaders, both badass, and when Joker saved her in Futaba's palace. Plus she hid behind him rather than anyone else around her when the power went out.
What Makoto? Makoto harukawa from persona 2? Makoto Sako from devil survivor 2? Makoto yuuki from persona 3? Makoto niijima from persona 5?

for Futaba and Yusuke, I have seen two comics on them. One of them on a picnic where Yusuke tries to be funny by making a pun or, and this is my personal favorite when Yusuke asks Ren for his blessings to be with Futaba to which Ren literally puts a knife to his throat like a protective older brother until Futaba walks in and asks "The fuck are you guys doing?"

My ships are mainly Yusuke bound but I also enjoy Ann and Ryuji. I always feel like these two seem like they could be a couple. I found this cute fan comic where Ann is being insulted by people for her being Blonde and Ryuji shouting that Ann ain’t special and the next day, he dyes his hair Blonde and she smiles while he says, “Now were both special” I mean it’s more a Headcanon with this comic for the motive why Ryuji dyes his hair but it’s adorable.

they’ve been battling and struggling together for god knows how long, protag confides in batting his troubles away after telling mishima to f off for the 30th time
batting cage has always been there for protag and frankly i’m upset that it’s not being talked about as much as other ships
Yusuke and Haru, Yusuke is poor but always acts really rich, they both are very detailed in their own ways (Yusuke with his art and Haru with Coffee and Ballet), plus half the time they both phrase their words weird and it leads to awkward moments.
They also have The Emperor and Empress arcana so it kinda works. I just can't explain it but (at least I think so) people who have those Arcana tend to click i.e: Mitsuru and Akihiko for example.

Yukiko x Narukami is the definitive ship for me, mostly because it’s so incredibly wholesome. Aside from the main plot of Yukiko’s dungeon and her S. Link, their persona designs are like the archetypical male and archetypical female, further linking them.
I think their dynamic is really cute, especially their date on New Years, and seeing as she’s the first one to speak up on the last train home, I think ATLUS knew a bit about what they were suggesting.
I’d like to think that after everything calmed down and some time passed, Yu and Yukiko started running the inn together, just like she suggested on Valentine’s Day. That way, Yu could support his love’s dream and be home, close to all of his friends.
IDK man I just like the idea that Narukami and Yukiko run the inn, Chie and Naoto are cops, Yosuke gets rich and manages all of the Junes stores, and Kanji inherits the textile shop and sells homemade stuffed animals there too.

Its definitely a bit of a stretch, but had P5 played out differently I think Akechi and Haru would have worked well together. They are very similar in that they both have a deceased mother and a corrupt, power hungry father. They also both have that sort of higher class air to them, even if Akechi actually grew up poor. That actually makes an interesting parallel since Haru’s father grew up poor as well. It’s kind of fitting that he got killed by a person who is likely very similar to who he once was. Obviously Haru said she couldn’t forgive Akechi, but if she saw the parallels he has with her own father she might reconsider. There is also the fact that they are the most bloodthirsty when it comes to killing shadows, so they’d likely make a good team.
Also, I ship Joker and Makoto, so it would be fitting for Joker and Akechi to date Makoto and Haru since they’re friends.
Also two ships I thought of that weren't in the video but I think are underrated:
1. Futaba/Ryuji, both of them are quite prone totroublemaking and would be dangerous as a couple, I got this idea after watching that hour long video of all the Mementos conversations and noticing how many of Futaba's crazy schemes Ryuji was just on board for
2. Yosuke/Naoki, they were both definitely the most effected by Saki's death and the interaction in Naoki's rank 8 (I think) made me think that Naoki could benefit from Yosuke's cheerfulness. That said the idea of Yosuke dating the sibling of the girl he crushed on is a bit iffy so I'm not sure about this one, but I think it's worth considering.

I feel like Atlus does a lot of accidental pairings just because they find some characters fitting for comedy scenes. I really like Yusuke and Futaba (which I didn't expect to like) mostly because they have many interactions with other characters, when they just default to talking about each other without really realising what tehy're doing. Like in the dancing game where Ruji manetions good looking girls dancing and Yusuke immidiatelly responds with "were you looking at Futaba". I know it's not on purpose, but I'd say it's a pretty convincingly written teenage crush.
Plus, since I got Futaba as a navi, she more often then not came in when Yusuke was in trouble in fights. Yusuke has agility down, let's do agility up. Yusuke is low on health, the party get's a heal up. It's just my gameplay, but it was still really funny in that context.
Prior to Royal I really liked Joker and Makoto. I always found it hilarious when she was stalking him and their interactions during the Futaba arc and how they really cared for her just really made me like them more. Plus the meme of Joker confessing that he boned her to Sae never fails to make me laugh.

I can understand why people like Yusuke and Futaba together, and I do think they have great moments, but the way they banter reminds me too much of me and my siblings for me to see those two as a couple.
Honestly I feel like as a whole Futaba is just too immature for romance. Even though she’s only a year younger than the rest of the phantom thieves, no matter who you pair her with it just feels wrong, you know?
I was actually about to say I get more of a brotherly/sister vibe from Yusuke and Futaba as opposed to anything romantic. But that being said, they do have some solid sibling chemistry. I felt like her/Joker were in a similar boat, especially with some of the comments Joker can make to Sojiro about the three of them being family. Kinda wish they had some of those same style comments in the friendship route with Futaba.

I could see her getting together with Ryuji, and despite them not having too much screentime together, I feel like she and Sumire could work out too. And I realize I may sound like a hypocrite to some with this one, but I do think Joker x Futaba is really adorable and supportive, and I never saw them as having a sibling relationships like most seem to. I feel like if they were supposed to be seen as siblings, we'd have her making weeb references like "forbidden love" and other lines like that, you know? It seems like most people see them as siblings not because of their relationship with each other, but because each of their own relationships with Sojiro. But like I said, I can understand why people can see them that way, heck I see her and Yusuke as acting like siblings despite not being related. Shipping in general is all just supposed to be good fun in the end, though

When I was first doing Kawakami’s confidant and she mentioned her sister having a rare disease, that made me think, what if it’s the one Takemi’s trying to cure and they meet from Takemi treating her sister, but well, that was made up. Though I can kind of imagine the protagonist introducing them when he hears this from Kawakamim only for her to awkwardly tell Takemi she made up the sister story, but they still become friends (and more 👀)

I feel very similar to you in reguards to Ann. I’ve played the game a few times thru, both vanilla and royal, and my appreciation of Ann has only grown. To me it seems she’s aged like a fine wine, didn’t really care much at first but overtime I am pretty appreciative of her (also she do look good with her hair down).
Maybe she'll grow on me I find in the persona series I much prefer the male characters in p3 the only girl character I like is Yukari (Unless you count girl social links) P4 has the best female characters out of the modern games I like all of them besides Yukiko and P5 is very mixed I don't hate any of them but I find Haru and Ann to be pretty mediocre Kasum is above average makoto is a B tier character and Futaba is my second favorite girl party member in the series (if your wondering what my favorite is it's Naoto)

I'm honestly on board with Haru x Joker because of their seeming "precious closet dom and cheeky closet sub" energy. Haru is pretty self explanatory, judging by her Mementos convos and Valentine's dialogue, and I noticed that Joker has A LOT of "oh my god step on me" response options when compared to other protags. Plus them running a cafe together is goals.

A ship I like is Iwai/Takemi. I feel like their moods and aesthetics would merge well together.
And, Dojima/Adachi. They make me feel a lot of things: from how Adachi actually enjoyed his time with the Dojimas to even after knowing who the killer is, how Dojima still looked out for his partner and even visits him.

I'm 22 min in and not one person suggested my ship of Akechi and Sumire. There was a couple scenes with them together in royal where I thought there dynamic would be cute.
Sumires positive to Akechis negative. And then he'd also in turn be able to help her with her own darkness. I shipped them more than her and joker lol.
Ok, after watching a bit more into this video I'm going to bring up what I think I didn't bring up in the headcanon vid in that I really like when people like explain these things way more than just talking about them.
An in depth explanation makes these things feel all the more possible and make all the more sense even if I don't exactly agree with them.
I do like the lengths that people go through and all the things they bring up which I feel gives me more insight on not only the series that they are talking about but the character, possibly narrative intent, and the perspective they are trying to show me.
It also helps me see the idea of even this sort of fan made story idea where you can realize how 2 personalities even if they never meet might compliment each other to such a degree that it could make interesting scenario's that are fun to think about.
Overall I wish more people could explain things this way rather than just like saying it simply or at least have the explanation on deck for people like me who would ask because it's fun learning about that.
