our first R pod 2020 191 shake down camping trip June 2020. Off pavement and up a knarley road in the SNRA just north of Ketchum Id. Upon arriving we discovered the rear window shade and the surround had detached from the wall. We discovered the shade had been attached with only three screws and the surround with only two screws. BUT, the big surprise was the screws were sunk into the wall without any sinkers to hold the screws. My advice to all pod owners is to remove the rear shade and surround and replace them with a light weight rod and a drape of choice. the shades are an overkill bound to fail. be sure to use the plastic sinkers commonly used in drywall. be sure to inspect the other windows. Also couldn't get the hose connected to the quick connect near the outside sink. rather than force it I contacted the dealer and he said to use a dry silicone spray on the presta valve. so we'll see how that goes. Just a hint: make sure EVERTHING works before you leave the dealership and video the walk thru so you can review the process. We are not first timers. we have owed several trailers and sail boats. but old age is what it is.

Thank you for the 202 review. Currently researching our 1st RV and really liked the layout of 202 for just my wife and I. You highlighted items that I never considered...again...because I haven't entered the RV'ing world just yet. And thank you for showing other options from other manufacturers. I am a new follower to your channel and look forward to watching your videos. Hopefully we will get ample amount of information to help us go in the right direction for our 1st RV to tow with my 1/2 ton pickup.

I am understanding correctly that Shore power can always be used regardless whether the converter is working correctly or not
I think you are correct but you would not be changing your battery and lose the 12 volt side of the trailer quickly with the battery not being charged. Also, RVs may vary on how things work in this regard, so it may not be accurate to say this is how it always works.
Thank You John, We are new Pod Owners Fortunately we also have a 179 model so your videos are great for us. We were out on maiden voyage and the converter went out Uggg.. bummer.. But your video on how to fix this is issue is great. I am so appreciative that you take your time to show us all these things makes a frustrating situation a little bit better.

Wow, I'm so happy to find this...thanks for the 'Pod videos. We bought our '17 RPOD 180 about a year ago and had some of these issues. We also learned that we had a leak around the retractable/fan air vent after three days of monsoon rain in southern Minnesota...easy repair when we got home.

@@notruss1, we discovered a leak around the frame of the vent. We thought that we hadn't tightened it, but that wasn't the problem. When we got home, I watched a youtube video about using self-leveling Dicor lap sealant (www.campingworld.com/dicor-self-leveling-lap-sealant-dove-bright-white-32126.html?gclid=Cj0KCQiAkKnyBRDwARIsALtxe7j38_pMvWqesmWZcmIUojhY5-49upQwdw4498cwALhLLoM28bplev0aAtVOEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds) and the procedure to apply it. I dutifully cleaned the area on the roof with soap and water. Then followed it with denatured alcohol, and spread the caulk. It was a pretty easy fix, and no problems since.
The worst problem I've had in 11 months is leaking under the shower. I tried to fix it myself, but found my tools were inadequate. Took my trailer to an RV dealer and they fixed it and I haven't had any further leaking. I also had the outside porch light frame break (cause unknown) and the lens blew out. I ordered a new light fixture and installed it. No further problems. I'm glad you said something about the tank pipes. I'm going to get strapping and secure them. I also have clear caulk that I'm going to caulk the kitchen sink with. I sure do enjoy learning from your videos! I love my R-Pod. I have the 19 foot with a shower and it is just grand to be able to return to my own little home-away-from-home after work each evening. Another thing I did to increase storage was put in two closet rods over the kitchen table and add some light-weight natural fiber baskets. It really matches the decor of my trailer and I can store light-weight items there. It keeps me from feeling cluttered. Anywho!!! Thanks again for your videos!

We just bought the 2017-1/2 172G Hood River Edition (barely used) one week ago and haven't gotten the chance to try it out yet. I'm sending your channel's link to my husband, so he can address these issues prior to us leaving, all good to know. He has kept our vehicles in tip-top condition over the years, so I think your honey-do vids will be keeping my honey honey-doing for awhile.

Most of these issues are specific to the non-Hood River versions of the R-Pods, but it still is a good idea to go through them to ensure your specific trailer is in good shape. Thanks!

Thank you John, This is very informative. We just bought a 196 (new) and will be on the lookout for these issues. I have heard a lot about the black tank hanger failure. Apparently this has been a problem for years! I'm surprised that Forest River hasn't done anything about it in manufacturing.
It's too bad FR hasn't fixed this issue. By the way, I was just looking again at the galvanized hanger straps I put on 2.5 years ago. They still look good without any issues. All the best!
can confirm, mine failed 4 months after taking it off of the lot. Completely fell off and separated from the tank. Luckily covered under warranty

RE: the ottoman- I have had great success in similar situations with velcro. Apply the loop side to the floor- i would suggest a very large swath to insure adhesion- and four pieces of hook to the ottoman- perhaps stapled or nailed to the frame. Makes the ottoman removable and secures it in place when necessary.

I just picked up a 2022 R-Pod 190. Other than transporting it 150 kms home from the dealership I haven't had a chance for a long trip yet. With regard to issue #1 - the black tank hanger failure - Forest River have added an additional piece of strapping around the pipe. It's plastic so I'll replace it with metal strapping, but at least it's there. Thanks for all the info on your channel, John. I'll be a regular visitor!
Thanks for sharing. It sounds like Forest River added a hanging strap recently given the multitude of failures for the black tank outlet hangers. I think you have a good idea to reinforce it using a metal strap. Thanks!

Hey John - great content in your videos - don’t know if you recall me from PNC.
If I manufactured an RV I would insure that anything to do with water, electricity of moving parts; e.g. slides, hinges, etc; were done well and correctly before the new rig was sent off to the customer.

Love your videos! Thanks for all the helpful information. We wanted to take our ottomans out also, but there is some built-in equipment inside the left one that can't be removed. What do people do about covering that? Ours is a 2016 R-Pod 179

We “had” a 2020 rpod , the hanger strap broke and the shower drain leaked and under the sink pipes leaked! We were in Home Depot on our 40th wedding anniversary buying stuff to fix the plumbing…. We had this camper for about 3 months and traded it for a 2018 Imagine, which I had no problems with!!

problems: the power converter did go out in our R pod 180 . Mod added 4-inch lifting blocks, removed single step add a two-step in, mover spare tire to the side of the camper. add motion light, lifted the rear rack. added a board at the refrigerator to give us foot room at night ( big Improvement) dual batteries . we do a lot of off-road boondocking the 180 is great .

Yup,
1) Black water drain holder fell off and lost my gate valve and most of the pipe. Replaced the pipe and gate.
2) Not yet, but installing LifePo and reiterate charger
3) Not yet, but
4) Kitchen sink didn't leak, but was barely held on and fell off. Remounted above the counter so it will never fall through.
5) Everything fell off, blinds on the way home, sides to dinette, etc. Installed new cordless blinds from home depot.

Another great episode! We removed our ottoman next to the bed last summer. It wasn’t loose, just in the way. Shower surround and black tank drain are solid. Checked them thanks to you. Probably will do a preemptive replacement of the power converter. Quick question. Couldn’t the battery be charged from your tow vehicle via jumper cables in a emergency?
Rob, thanks for the comments. Glad things are looking good on your unit. I think you could add a charge to your trailer 12V battery via jumpers from your tow vehicle, but it would only be a very short-term solution. The advantage of a battery charger is that it can work when your unit is plugged into shore power by having the battery charger plugged into your trailer external outlet. Then you can continuously charge the trailer battery or as needed. Thanks for watching!

Hi John, 2017 RPod 179 newbie here and I love your videos. I have the problem with shower surround, mine was built in Dec 2016. You refer to using double sided tape, then caulking, do you have a video anywhere showing this repair? I've searched with no luck. It seems pretty simple, and I bought Gorilla double sided tape and caulk, but your tips are always beneficial! Let me know and keep the info coming, thank you!
Leon, unfortunately I do not have a video on the process we did to reseal the shower surround. I contacted Forest River at the time and they gave us the double-sided tape that we used. Because of this, I am not sure of what brand tape it was. I think your solution with the Gorilla double-sided tape and caulk should work. Thanks!

Rob, I think you will find quality issues of some sort with most lower cost trailers. It's a good idea to read reviews of several different models as you focus in on a final choice. All the best!

I had trouble with the battery, not holding a charge, but found out that the post need to be cleaned,but have a extra battery as a backup

I bought a 2020 RPod 189, 2nd trip we noticed the black tank hanger the bolt was gone, we used a very small bungee cord around it to get home, It was under warranty & fixed it for free, & awning did`nt tighten up when extended out, also adjusted for free.

Your issue concerning screwing stuff to the flooring. Could you have someone hold some 1X stock or even a short piece of 2X under the trailer floor and screw through the floor and into a more substantial piece of wood. Possibly add some construction adhesive in the process to add some strength to the whole process. All this assuming you can get to that area under the trailer.
Greg, this could done, my concern would be with adhering wood outside and under the unit. I am not a fan of any additional holes in the unit that would break the vapor block. Ideally, the manufacturer should insert wood stock into the sandwiched luan-styrofoam floor to adhere screws to. Thanks for the comment!
My R-pod had been connected to shore power on my driveway. I went out the and found my batteries were more than exhausted. I'll have to check to see if the converter is working. Would the best way be to just measure for current at the batteries?

The battery panel lights should always show full (all lights on) when the unit is plugged into shore power if the converter is working properly. If not, likely the converter is not charging the battery. They other way to test is to plug into shore power and disconnect the battery. If your overhead lights don’t work, the converter is failing. The ottoman in my 2017 R-pod 179 near the refrigerator had come loose as you show in the video. Same reason. This ottoman contains wiring that is supposed to move freely as the slide moves in and out, so I suspect that it why the screws didn't hold tight and simply elongated their holes in the sub-flooring. I think I've solved the problem by permanently anchoring the ottoman to the floor using construction adhesive instead of screws. Of course nothing is really permanent, so we'll see how long this lasts!

John please find a place for this if you would please . Water on the floor in front of the sink. This is an R Pod 177 built in 2018. After investigation, the hose that attached to the outside shower facet was lose. The water would drip onto the shelf, run to the door access, drop down the inside of the cabinet onto the floor. And leave a puddle. Disconnected the P-trap, tightened the hoses to the shower facets and reattached the p-trap. No more leaks.

Great info. I have a 2020 Rpod 190. It’s been a haste because of Covid and parts. The medicine cabinet fell off wall before I even used it. It damaged bathroom door and shower track. That was April 2020. They just got it fixed last month! It’s really put us off camping.
Anyone have experience with RPod slide outs? I’m trying to gauge what year 2 expenses might be and/or if I just want to ditch it and eat the loss - so we have no more headaches.
Michael, sorry to hear your troubles. I have had my share of issues but not something that kept my trailer from being used for near as long as you have. If you do decided to sell, R-Pods and travel trailers in general are in short supply, so you may not lose as much as you think. Just look at prices on RVtrader.com. Otherwise, it is possible that the trailer is actually fixed and now usable, so you may be over the initial hump of frustration and can begin to enjoy it. I have a 2nd year review video that may gauge possible issues that you may face, but some people don't have near the issues I have had. All that said, my 2017 R-Pod 179 is in a great place right now and has been working well for some time. Here is the video link...

Frank, if you’ve watch my recent video on 20 issues in two years, the final warranty issue not resolved is the soft floor problem. This is still being worked through with Forrest River and has taken quite some time to get them to look at it. All to say, my answer may change after this period of warranty work is resolved! Tomorrow night’s video will reveal that I did buy a larger RV for longer trips when I am working remotely. I already own a half-ton truck, so going larger wasn’t too difficult. The R-Pods are great to get into almost any campground and a good starter RV for most people stepping up from tent camping. Also, with R-Pods you don’t necessarily need a truck. Hope this helps. On our 2016 there was an external exposed gap with no sealant at about 6 feet up on the front curve where the roof meets the sidewall. I think this is pretty common but it often goes unnoticed.

I had an issue on my 179 R Pod with the tube that holds the sewer hose that is mounted under the front below the battery box. our drive way is sloped just enough that it drug a little every time we pulled out, it is a cheap plastic and first the door pin came off for we rigged it with a clip then eventually i got to the campground only to find the entire holding tube was gone. I found an inexpensive way to make one ( with a furnace stove pipe) and mounted it between the spare tire and back of the unit.

I don't own a rpod yet but with the problem with the ottoman bolts. Could you bolt it through the floor with a washer and nut underneath? Don't know if it would work. It's what popped in my head. Enjoy the videos.
Allen, thanks for the comment. I'd rather not penetrate the waterproof membrane at the bottom of the trailer and so open the unit to outside elements, etc. The bolt would certainly secure the ottoman. Thanks for the idea and comments and thanks for watching.

I conversed with a forest river sales department rep. and she informed me that the new R Pod 195 will be available and started the end of April ( ish ) It is still in engineering as of now. The first prototype has been put together at the East factory only. I do not see how they will have the 60 inch wide walk around RV queen bed and still keep the wheels on the outside of the body like all other Pod's are now. Maybe it will be like the NOBO 19 series with the wheels inside the body?

I recently bought our first R-Pod...a 2018 178. The seller was the 2nd owner and always used 110V shore power. There are some appliances that do not work off of 12V battery power and I'm not sure if this is normal or a problem with the power converter. Here is what I have: Model WF-8735P Power Converter. The units which do not operate when running off of batteries only are:
(1) Continu-us 28 inch TV CT28T18
(2) Dometic Air Conditioner 640315
(3) High Point Microwave Convection EC028KD7.
All 3 units work fine if plugged into 110V house outlet.
On the Power Converter label, the 12V fuses show a 15 amp fuse in the #2 slot for "Interior Lights, A/C" so I was expecting the A/C to work off of battery. I don't see anything about the microwave on the 12V side. Being in BC, I don't expect much need for the A/C but would like the oven to work, if possible. Any insights are greatly appreciated.
You would need to add an inverter to run the AC appliances. Several people have done this. I’ll point you to the RPod owners forum: rpod-owners.com
One problem I won't have since I have now crossed this off my list of possibles.

Hi John, thank you for your videos, they're very informative! I'm having a problem with no water coming out the kitchen faucet and can't figure out the problem. Water comes out the cold water faucet in the bathroom but it's hot water coming out the cold water side! Do you have any idea what the problem might be, have you had this problem? Thank you for your help and Happy New Year!
Try removing the kitchen faucet screens by unscrewing the end of the faucet. Clean any debris in the screens. Keep the parts in order so you can put them back in properly. Try this first and let me know if it works. Thanks!
No cold water coming out, only hot water I meant. Nothing out cold water faucet.
Can you put a heavy-duty piece of waterproof material on the bottom of the rPod in the exact under side of the ottoman? You could sink longer stronger bolts through the floor into the square under the exact spot then use locking nuts. Caulk it all water tight. The ottoman and piece on the under carriage would create a sandwich out of the ottoman, subfloor, and piece you put on undercarriage.

Do you have any info on the newer models like the 196 ? We have had the inverter interfere with making coffee in the morning and blowing out the 110 power by the breaker on the inverter itself. Fenders cracking in the steel seams.
I use a K-cup coffee maker regularly with no issues. Not sure why it would be flipping the breaker. You may want to inquire on the Rpod owners forum. RPod-owners.com
The solution I came up with is to remove the ottoman, set it out of the way. Cut an access hatch in the floor centered on the ottoman. Install a marine access hatch large enough to put your hand and arm, and a piece of thick plywood, or any wood that the screws or bolts can bite into. Install the wood under each point in the floor where a screw or bolt will anchor. I suppose you could use glue to attach it to the underside of the existing floor. I think I'd use bolts, washers, and nuts. Drill holes, position ottoman in place, cut an access hole in the bottom side of the ottoman, put bolts in, reach in access hatch with nuts and washers, sock them down, you're good to go.

great feedback. thanks for sharing. Ours is the 192 and all of a sudden its not charging the battery via the solar panel. camping world suggested resetting the go power control unit. I did the reset, but battery still won't charge if not hook. If you don't mind, how did you isolate the issue as the inverter? Honestly the manual is hard to understand. When we finally go dry camping it will make it a little tough because we don't carry a generator with us. So far it hasn't been an issue because we've only used campgrounds with hookups. Thanks for any suggestions you may have. Our shake down was two years ago. 4k miles round trip to Michigan and Pennsylvania and came back down through the Appalachian Mountains to Cherokee North Carolina and Nashville before going on home. The only negative was our sewer line didn't stay in the bumper. lol easy fix.

We live in Upstate New York. Have seen a couple of these caulking around the sink, Bathroom walls. Our biggest problem is with leaks around the slide. We have had it to the dealer 3 times for repair under warranty. The unit is pristine except that when it rains there is water everywhere inside. I have had a couple of campers before - slide ins, never had this kind of problem. finally the dealer said there was nothing they could do, and called r-pod.
after speaking with the dealers Service leader and Warranty manager r-pod agreed to repair the problem themselves at the r-pod plant. Have you ever heard of this? All this was a couple of months ago. Any ideas where to go from here? ron
Ron, yes FR will do repairs at the plant. After year one with my 179, the factory fixed my leaking slide out as part of several warranty repairs. It has been much better since, but mind you, if it is real gusher of a rain event and I have the 179 unlevel side-to-side, leaning in toward the cabin, it will still leak, as water will pool at the slide entry. It's important to lean the cab higher on the non-slide side so water rolls away from the cab at the slide. If you can swing it, have FR fix it for you as your resale value is at stake if you do nothing. All the best!
My side panel at the front corner has separated from the wall. I bought my 2015 it used in 2016. The dealer says not covered. This is a manufacturing defect. Any advice?
Ed, I am afraid that with an R-Pod out of warranty several years that your are on your own to fix it. Thank you. We have experience the black water hanger problem, but not the others. I have a question about another issue we are having with our 2018 RPod 179. After three years I'm noticing horizontal cracks on the inside panel of the door. The panel is plastic (fiberglass?) and the problem has been reported on forums related to RPods, and many other RVs. Has this been brought to your attention? No one seems to have a solution short of replacing the entire door. Any thoughts on how to patch/replace the panel would be appreciated.
Keith, I haven't heard of the door cracking, but it doesn't surprise me as I had the fiberglass on the outside of my R-Pod crack. Feel free to send a pic to my email if you want to. Have you asked on rpod-owners.com to see if anyone there has encountered the issue? I know for my fiberglass cracking issue, Forest River had a specialist fix the fiberglass for me while my trailer was at the factory a while back. Looks like there is a new model on Forest River Web site under development RP195! I am waiting to see one in person. It looks like a 179 on steroids! Front walk around queen bed. And the newer dry bath. The Ottoman problem is the only issue that concerns me. That looked like a laminated floor with no real structure inside of it?
John, I have looked at the floor plan of 195 from the Forest River site and it looks interesting. I’m waiting to see the specs. The dinette/ottoman does look very similar to the 179 and may have the same issues with the ottoman unless they structured the floor differently. My floor is vinyl on top of a thin layer of plywood on top of foam board insulation. Below this is the floor decking. Hope this helps. All the best!

Perhaps on the ottoman, you could glue some Velcro to the floor and the ottoman, that should hold.

Michael, I have never purchased extended warranties on any of my RVs. Most new RVs will have at least a year and some have more (Jayco 2 yrs full, 3 yrs structural) for example. I generally fix most things minor that crop up once warranty is up, so if you are handy or willing to learn and risk a bit, you can self-ensure in this regard. Also, you should be aware that some components have longer warranties than the RV has. I talked to some of this in detail in a recent live show. We are looking to get in to a trailer for up to two years, do you think rpods build quality can handle that kind of usage or are these issues worse and worse as years go on and production ramps up? The 190 looks like a great size. Does the competition do anything better?
If you are talking full-time use for two years, you may want to move away from the ultra lite trailer category and get something made to be lived in full-time. If you are going to use it occasionally over a two-year period, then it could work. Just be aware that you likely will have maintenance during that time. To answer the second question, yes there are better quality trailers in the same size, but you will have to pay. Lance, for example or Airstream. Hope this helps.

Hey John, this is unrelated to these 5 items but... I am trying to secure the awning I just slid on very tightly on the track. Well it is in a zippered bag which I would like to strap down against the wall or over the top on the roof. Question is where can I find a schematic of where can I drill into (and of course seal) the outside wall or roof? I am planning on using roofing type screws and seal with marine 3M 5200 caulk...
Leo, I don't know if a schematic exists outside of Forest River, but I can think of two things: 1. I can usually see the wall studs visually after a rain or heavy mist morning. It is unusual, but you can actually see where the studs are on the walls from the outside. 2. I would ask the knowledgable folks on the R-Pod owners forum. This isn't the FaceBook groups. When using the fresh water tank and not hooked up to city water, do you need to have the water pump on all the time? When I turned mine on in had a lot of air in the line and took a long time too clear. It has very low water pressure. Is this normal. Thn anks
I do leave my water pump when camping on the fresh water tank on once it is pressurized. I only need to remove the air in the lines when first using it after dewinterizing the trailer. If yours is running non-stop after this, you may want to check your filter near the pump for debris. Low water pressure at the faucets could simply be the aerator in the faucet being clogged. I occasionally have to unscrew these and clear any debris. Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

I have a 2020 RPod 195 I purchased the first weekend in May. We’ve had it on the road just about every weekend since. This weekend (6/26-28) we took it down to Wheeler TX. We lost the Black tank drain just as we where pulling into the camp site. The repair was simple as the drain separated at a joint. Some plumber putty, a screw, lock washer and nut was all we need to reconnect it. Afterwards some one suggested duct taping over the hole torn in the bottom and spraying a little foam up into that area. We also have an ottoman that has already come loose. Not sure what to do there maybe use some heavy duty Velcro to hold it in place.

Thanks for all the tips. We just bought a new 180 and will test it out Labor Day week. I will probably do the sewage pipe hanger fix at least and carry a battery charger. I noticed that ours is alway pulling about 40 watts or so even on stand by with nothing on. Is that the converter running or what? My dealer didn’t know.
Ken, Even when not plugged into shore power, if the battery is connected there will be some draw for the stereo, and few minor items. I am not sure the exact current. Some of the folks on the owners forum would likely know: rpod-owners.com
please please please tell us if you know why the AC is so loud. Cant hear anything, TV, dog hates the sound. what should we do with it?? Please suggest.
Christine, unfortunately most RV AC units are loud. I usually open windows and use fans when possible, but for sure there are times the AC is needed. I do notice the AC in my Keystone Bullet is slightly quieter vs the RPod, but not by a lot. The AC in the RPod is very large for the size of the trailer, so usually it isn't on for long when I use it. All the best.
Not sure if you’ve addressed this before, but we are replacing the black vinyl stripping around our 2017 rpod 179. The vinyl travels underneath our Thule awning, which of course is bolted and sealed to the roof. Any suggestions in replacing the stripping on this side of the camper? Thanks much.

We are having issues with mosquitoes inside. I understand when you enter the unit, you might have some on you but after killing a bunch of them, it seems there are more. I checked seals, all good, screens all good. Any suggestions. Also, any idea how to make the valences above the windows stay up. They constantly have to be reinforced.
Marc, I had the same issue a few years ago when camping in the UP of Michigan in July. For my R-Pod 179, I noticed air coming into the cabin from under the slide dinette area with the bathroom exhaust fan on and the other windows closed. So air can get into the cabin from under the slide (at least in my unit). I think the fan was sucking the little pests into the cabin as they were all around the trail outside of the cabin. You may want to consider using your A/C vs the bathroom exhaust fan and see if this clears things up. Hopefully this helps. Ok, makes sense. If you use an exhaust fan in your trailer and keep the windows closed, can you feel a draft coming in from somewhere in the trailer?
mine is door problem. the is not straight and must be closed with a lot of force. the bottom screw on the door is grooving the door jam.

Door alignment can be frustrating. I had to have a door realigned by my dealer. Sometimes it can an issue with the stabilizer jacks being uneven at the campsite. Sounds like you may need someone to realign it.
Just got back from our maiden voyage with our "nused" R Pod 189. At the entrance of the door is puckered at both sides and can feel something underneath linoleum and also some give in the floor in front of sofa..Any ideas as to what is going on?
Peggy, sorry to hear this. It very well could be water intrusion. You may want to inspect all your caulk and seals closely or have a local RV shop go over your unit to try and find any leak areas. You could have a leak near the door seal that is getting under the door and and to the sofa area. Make sure you also have the back window checked. Sorry again to hear this. All the best!

Just dewinterized our 196 (new) and getting very little water coming through the shower. Sinks and toilet pressure strong. Removed the shower head, not the problem. Dealer suggests sediment in lines, but the camper is new. Suggestions?
If you have a tub faucet below the shower, are you getting good pressure at the tub faucet?

Tried that too. Just a trickle of water out of the showermizer-it is coming thru the hot water heater as water is hot.
@@thomasvotrain7837 It sure does sound like a blockage in the line to the shower, which is what you were already told. If it is new and still under warranty, and your dealer is nearby, I'd personally take it to them to fix.
Hey John, we just got a 2019 R-Pod 191 and the exact same thing happened in the exact same spot! Great to see it won't be a hard fix. Can you please tell me what type of double-sided tape you used? I have the Gorilla tape, but it's permanent and not sure if the shower panels are made to come off later if other work is needed. What tape did you use and how were you able to get in under the panel without bunching up, etc? Thanks for your help!!!
We asked Forest River for the proper tape and since it was under warranty, they sent us a small role. We cut it into 2” strips and inserted behind the surround. Still working well.

In reference to the ottoman problem. It looks like the ottoman is attached to the slide out. Can you use toggle blots there? I'm thinking you can fill in the gouged out area with epoxy, drill a hole through it, and use them.

Do you recommend a RPod?
Elan, it really depend on what you are looking for in a trailer. R-Pod has gone larger in size lately and has less focus on smaller trailers. They recently stopped production on my R-Pod 179. Quality is only fair, as with most trailers at this price point, so if you go this route, you should expect some issues to deal with. You can go more expensive (Lance, Airstream) and in some cases get better build. It's trade-off in terms of price/quality. Hope this helps!
Very informative tank you. I'm in the process of looking to live in an RV full time, I have Multiple Sclerosis and live with my late 70s mother. I can't afford a home and when she passes away I need a small home where I done pay property taxes and such.
Bill, just remember while there isn't property tax, you still pay for it indirectly through lot rental at various places. RVs are not all that cheap to buy just now, nor to maintain. Used or new can come with their share of problems and costs. You don't want to go into an RV ownership experience thinking it will be cheap to own and maintain, only to be disappointed. All the best!

We sued FOREST RIVER INC. for failing to manufacturer our 2017 model 180 R-Pod as they agreed to. One reason the owners manual states RV frame powder coated- manufacturer LCI finally emailed they don’t have powder coating capability in their McMinnville Oregon. Wheels lug nuts incorrectly torqued so I bought new wheels and paid local station to R&R them at my expense. Majority of screws securing roof to walls front to rear left and right sides had plain steel screws mfg. for interior use not exterior use. Extremely rusted whereby rust related corrosion weakened screws that were about two times the length of the required stainless steel screws. Passengers side above rear basement door has rotted area in wall, containing black mold. About six square feet of floor in front of kitchen sink is soft and spongy. Throughout, the 12v wires and 110v wires are routed with the two wire twisted around each other. They were required to be separated from one another by 1/2”. Both vent pipes (black and Gray water storage) are required to go through roof
minimum 2”. Ours were cut to short enabling hazardous fumes from black water storage tank to flow out the top of vent pipe and down through wall. The hazardous deadly fumes flowed throughout RV into living quarters. Furnace installed around water piping and electrical wires creating many CODE VIOLATIONS and life threatening conditions. Installation of pre wired solar wiring is to long reducing performance. In the solar pre wiring a short stop resettable circuit breaker was installed and was required to be permanently removed and pre wiring rerouted to correct length. All the clamps installed to secure the rubber propane hoses to the RV frame were incorrectly sized, possibly reducing propane flow and deterioration inside the hose possibly resulting in life threatening conditions for RV occupants and others outside the RV. Forest River Inc. agreed in writing with RVIA to build their RV’s to NFPA 1192 Standard on Recreational Vehicles. Forest River Inc. Failed therefore using numerous Publications created by and or approved by RVIA I inspected our R-Pod finding more than three hundred Code Violations many life threatening. Please know, I did not determine if a code Violation existed or not, those publications and RVIA determined which were Code Violations. My wife and I really enjoy our R-Pod and we have lived/camped in it numerous times as much as 3 to 5 weeks at a time. BUT! We also parked it (sometimes on an automobile lift) while clearing Life Threatening Code Violations and others. We’re grateful for the times RVIA communicated with us and the publications they created and or approved making our journey more pleasant. Terry Mishler
