Every squadron or patrol needs a Peter McAleese, his experience and enthusiasm alone are infectious. I'd have been proud to have worked with a this man.
Can't to go to an evening with these two legends, Rusty and Peter walk the walk, talk the talk and kick ass. Another great video Rusty, well done and thank you for sharing.
We need inspirational stories like this to feel proud about what our countrymen have achieved post World War 2. You guys developed the tactics of special warfare. basically, you were force multipliers. Achieving things in small groups, what entire companies would have done in the past. It is an honour (I don't say this lightly) to be privy to these stories and to have this information available for free. Young people should have warriors as role models and not fake actors or wrestlers. Thank you all for your service. To the cooks, truck drivers, medics, and right up to the operators of the SAS and SB.
Thank you for dispelling the myths surrounding Special Forces (Just ordinary people doing extraordinary things). Keep the stories of what you went through during your soldering life alive for all to hear. Yes, who knows what would have become of you if you had joined the Legion.
Another great interview, I'm amazed by the way he tells a story without showmanship but the drama still comes across more vivid hope the time in Angola is talked about 👍
Great job Rusty, No bullshit here. I recently looked out a ton of photos from my time in the Army to show to a young lad at work who needs direction in his life, in the hope that he will join up and give him a purpose and many memories after he leaves the service. Thanks to Peter too. Best As Always, Stevie in Fife.
Like yourself mate, Peter is an amazing guy. Another great video interview Rusty. As stated before, looking forward to the other interviews and more great stories from Peter.
Loved this interview, really great to hear the stories from the horses mouth. My uncle served with the Rhodesian SAS, and this interview reminded me so much of catching up with him at Christmas - was always a highlight to hear his stories over a glass of whisky. Great stuff guys!
Thank you Peter for sharing your amazing stories . Have to say your a true gentleman humble, modesty and come across as just another person who is just doing a job .. you are a hero mate and take credit where it’s due putting your life on the line speaks volumes .
Both legends and heroes! Love your content as usual Mr. Firmin and Mr. McAleese. -From South Africa (Although it has changed a lot from when Mr. McAleese was here.)
Peter top solider after such a distinguished service career, how did you cope with your return to civiy street it must have been pretty tough after such a career and it seems always in the thick of things.. one excellent bloke. Thanks Peter and a special thanks Rusty for getting him on the show..
All I can say is thank you for sharing your stories. 2 humble gentlemen who were capable of extreme violence in the snap of a finger. They could easily be holding a town parish meeting instead and no one would bat an eye lid.
Hi Rusty Another very interesting insight to Peters exploits the emotive way he explains the events is so strong,if he asked me to go though a brick wall I wouldn’t hesitate. The importance of preparation to achieve your goals is a lesson,so many people fail to do and they wonder why they get themselves into trouble. Looking forward to your next interview with Peter thanks again 👏🏻👏🏻
Hi Rusty and Peter another fantastic video I'm late today but God I could listen to you two real hero's all day Rust you need to promote peters plaque absolutely superb bud
"just a normal guy" very modist, speaking as a civilian we don't know what's happening in countries like Nigeria, it's really incredible what some people do in their lives and it's nice to know that these people keep us safe in our beds at night and have fought for our freedoms
Haven't seen this episode yet.Does Rusty mention his books?🤣 I remember reading" NO Mean Soldier" over 25yrs ago and it was an excellent book guys,I totally recommend it.😄👍👍👍
Peter, you should recall the 'mutiny' in Rhodesia shortly after the elections when the regular army was trying to assimilate some of the former guerillars. It's one of the episodes that stuck in my mind from your book many years ago. I'm sure many people would like to hear that tale of practcal soldiering. The red hats etc.
Great to see and here you guys, most have no idea of how it all started from the 40s LRDG, be interesting to know what Peter thinks of the modern TV S/F shows!!
Two great people, one thing I have observed with SAS soldiers none of them seem aggressive, in many ways they come across as very humble type people. I assume that is because of their high level of confidence. Two very intresting people.
Peter's life is an amazing real life epic. I've stumbled upon his book a few years ago and it is one of the best reads ever. Clearly a highly skilled, admirable fighting man. Only down side is fighting on the wrong side of history and ethics for some time. I'd like to know how he comes to terms with that now and what it means to the man today.
Hello Rusty, hello Peter, another briliant video. Thanks for sharing these story's with us👍👍👍👍👍👍On a tangent, to realy put the cat amongst the pigeons now that ant middleton has left channel 4, i think they should have Pete to take over, he'd be much more realistic than the bloke they're thinking of signing up(sargent bilko) mind you even if sargent bilko did take over, it would probably better than what they're broadcasting at present. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
From what I can gather a shit load of action went off down in southern Africa that I didn't know about! I don't recall anything in the news back in the day regards the Rhodesian SAS or any other units. I now have a couple of books including Peter's. Defo getting the reprint.
Look up books by Hannes Wessels for an in depth look at what C Squadron SAS achieved in the Rhodesian bush war from 68-79. The long range patrols deep into Mozambique and Zambia were infamous. Also subscribe to John van Zyl channel on UA-cam. They feature at least 30 interviews with former member of the RLI, Selous Scouts, SAS and Air Force. Amazing accounts of what they and us went through especially between 73-79. Hope this helps. The

I used to have a dog called Rusty and I can remember reading Peter rabbit. My point is that the S.A.S are real animals who are top of the food chain and back down to no terrorist organisation and if you think that I am chatting excrement then call any one of them to their face a wimp because they won't hit you, they will just laugh in your face turn around and say in their heart's get behind me Satan and you will be powerless over them! God and Jesus bless them all. God speed the resurrection Amen. Martyn.

Hell yeah... 😉.

I know that the film Wild Geese was based on what Peter has said here.
Can you do a piece on the infamous colonel callan ,the angolan mercenary.
My farther knew you back in South Africa he was good friends with George Kay
He also mentioned a gentlemen called frank green
Audible please and get David McCallion to read it. He did a great job with Harry's book Killing Zone
