OMG, the dreaded death spiral.
I've listened to many versions of this song, love, love ,love it.
This one finished up 40 mm slower than it started, everyone listening to everyone else in the rhythm section to set tempo, everyone else just a fraction behind, and then drug the vocalists and horn section into the pit of despair with them.
This was the opposite of tight, been there, done that, as a horn player nothing we can do but just ride it into the ground with everyone else.
