There is a reason for doing this. It's not rocket science but it does need to be done correctly. If done correctly everything will fit in your seabag and won't be wrinkled when you unpack. I went to boot camp in 1967 and have been folding clothes like this my entire life
Was taught to do this by Dad when I was about 5, 1961. I didn't know everyone didn't call a bed a rack, the bathroom, the head, etc. until I went off to public school! I still pack and make my rack this way at age 63!
thanks for the bed and navy folding video, I suck at folding but after I watched this video and went to boot camp I folded it like nothing ( although making your bed takes time )
To fold socks easier, touch toes together then offset about 2 inches then continue the same way. This causes the socks to be tighter and the open side will not have the top of the second sock. Great video. Brings back memories
You're missing the coveralls and the dress whites and blues! Hahahaha, oh man, I remember as a punishment we had to fold, unfold, and refold our dress uniforms for an hour. I was laughing my ass off on the inside.
Hey this is super helpful I leave for bootcamp in April and I'm super anxious.....buhh your vid is really helpful thank you so much hope your channel grows and good luck bro
Thank you so much for this, I'm trying to learn a bunch of this stuff before I ship off and get good at it so I don't have to worry about it when I get there.
The purpose of folding you military clothing was for two purposes. One it was a form of psychological conditioning, to train you to follow procedure, two to make it easier to fit in your sea bag. When I attended Basic Training at RTC Orlando Naval Base in 1991, their was a slight difference on the method of folding our Navy military clothing. The method is similar to today Navy Basic Training, but a slight difference.
DoLiLoLi12 Dont starve yourself before MEPS but also dont eat much before you go, cahnces are your first meal of the day will be at 4am and your next at 1Pm so bring snacks for after you weigh in!
this is kind of funny. looking up videos on how to fold the nwu shirt tighter. found your video, look at your channel. find out you were my 3rd fleet Co back at a school. lol
+Yoon Kim yes lol you showed me the trick at the laundry mat. To show if the dryers were being used or not. I think so, cook wasn't that great. PSSR LaRock.
+Yoon Kim I am going to Japan tomorrow. last day home in Wisconsin. kind of cool to see you are posting youtube videos. going to be doing more of this when I get settled down.
Thank you for this video I know this is for military guys but I found it very helpful on folding my husbands XL XXL T-Shirts and Jersey’s and all of his pants.. Well as for my self being a female I too I have a lot of clothes and i know how to military roll and fold my T shirts and pants and dress clothes and my clothes are not that big.... What I would like to see is a video that would help me fold all my hoodies and winter jackets is what I would like to see if you don’t mind os like to find another way of folding those Abercrombie hoodies or heavy duty jackets because I’m packing all of my winter clothes away because here in vegas it’s going to be in the upper to high 90’s by the end of the weekend and the following week.... I must say it’s a bit to warm for them so if you could please post a video or find away so you can send it to my email but I don’t want to put it out on public form I would greatly appreciate it thank you..
I got two different versions on how to fold socks and undies and how they do it at RTC ( undie's you roll into a ball and socks are folded the same but folded in half first)
Only in bootcamp there was a particular diagram where everything was supposed to be. Can't remember that now, but after bootcamp placement is no longer relevant
I had my brother tell me that this would help get more stuff when packing for camp retreat. I’m thinking about joining the Navy. Do they make you wear tighty whities or can I bring/wear boxer briefs?
+jakEjedi Mother I am not sure with the specific fabric differences, if there is any. I would mainly say the difference is the design just for pure looks.
This aint the way I learned it in boot. Blouses and pants were first turned inside out before being folded and rolled into cylinders and secured with clothes stops.
Is it just me or did they change the way of folding the T-shirts? Cause if they didn't where the fuck did i learn to fold my shirts the way i do? I joined in 06 and I know the Navy was making changes and from like 09 and up it was different. I did old school battle stations. But my division and some of the others who were in at the time got to do the new battle stations on the (at the time unnamed) ship. Believe it's the USS Trayer. What a simulator. Anyway point is I know as of like 08-09 bootcamp changed it was Abit different from mine. One of my younger relatives joined in 2010 and it was way different from what I went through and did. Oh well great vid sorry for the long ass comment.
Jarnice Morris you don't fold them you push the back in and put them together. 8 point to 8 point to navy ball cap. 88 recruits joined the navy is how I remembered that
Good video. Just too long and camera too close. Cut the time and taking down and pull the camera 🎥 back so we can see the entire garment without moving it while you’re folding. Thanks.
Do it while a pissed off red roped chief is yelling at you ass and you can't understand him because of the broken English good times. Still fold all my civilian shit this way my wife dosent get it
I was always intrigued by the way the department store folds these clothes. My grandma would make us fold and clothes for space. I was always chided too military fold and roll up my things for space at home and had it drilled into my head for college bag packing. She was always impressed by how I out so much essentials in my bags. I will practice. Thanks so much. Show us the A school bag pack. Or first deployment bag maybe. Ruck sack bag packing. Also how is the rack fully stocked supposed too look?

+Doug Poulton I never thought about it that way. Very interesting. Thank you for sharing and your service.
+Doug Poulton I still fold a lot of things Navy style....30 years later.
Thin, thick, thick, thin

I'm in the process before going packing all my civilian clothes up before going to basic. I folded them all just like this which was great practice!
you'd you do
Wish I practiced this before I went to boot camp you must have done awesome in boot
thanks for the bed and navy folding video, I suck at folding but after I watched this video and went to boot camp I folded it like nothing ( although making your bed takes time )

Wow, This brings back memories. Cloths have to be folded this way to fit within your seabag and rack (bed)

How to fold:
T-Shirt 0:31 - 3:23
Socks 3:24 - 5:43
Briefs 5:44 - 6:59
Shorts (same method for folding Boxers) 7:00 - 08:59
Towels 9:00 - 12:06
Long sleeve shirts (same method for folding Uniforms) 12:07 - 14:06
Pants 14:08 - 16:36
thanks I will post this in the description.
You sir, are a Saint
You're missing the coveralls and the dress whites and blues! Hahahaha, oh man, I remember as a punishment we had to fold, unfold, and refold our dress uniforms for an hour. I was laughing my ass off on the inside.
This video was a TREMENDOUS help. Thank you so much.
This is a great video. I'm a visual person, so this will help if I can lose the weight needes to join the Navy.
Glad to help Kelly, i know you can do it
leaving today for bootcamp. good video! practicing this while packing.
Best of luck FS White. Let me know how it goes when you come back.
JustYoon I got 6 days and I'll be practicing. I appreciate your videos. - FS Battaglia

Thanks Kyle!
Thanks, I had forgotten half of these methods.
Thanks for your help. I am here after a recommendation for van life living. Every inch counts, so compact clothing storage is key.
Going to RT and I need to have this all memorized. Thanks a lot man!❤️
Transferring next week and couldn’t remember how to fold my stuff to fit in my sea bag so thank you lol
And they wonder why as veterans we have OCD 😂 and control issuses
I still fold my clothes like this. It's perfect.
Thank you so much for this, I'm trying to learn a bunch of this stuff before I ship off and get good at it so I don't have to worry about it when I get there.
you got it sean

+Juanito Sainz I will see what I can do
K thnxs
+Yoon Ho Kim do one on arranging merits
I hate hospital corners
Pretty cool that you took the effort to make this vid. Going off to boot camp in a few months. Appreciate the help. Subscribed.
Thanks Hank!
"To me, to me, she left me for all the right reasons."
Why
Haven’t heard that in a while
She left me for all the right reasons. Cuz I joined the US Navy.

That first shirt was Unsat shipmate!!!
I even told my clothes like that for my regular luggage 😂
Oh the memories! Thanks for sharing!!!
Really great video, need to get down 15LBs and I will be joining.
You got this. Keep me posted.
JustYoon thank you very much and I definitely will!!

I am still folding like this. Nothing changed
For the long sleeve shirt, what if mine has a hoodie? how would I be able to fold it
Skinny fat fat skinny to the riiight lol...so many memories. Navy vet '07-'11
Dress uniforms??
Did you fold your socks in pairs or singles?
How do you fold the sailor cap into a triangle so it fits in your back pocket
Can you make a video that tell us how much time we have to do making our beds, folding clothes, and other things too
I'll see what i can do. In the mean time.
In boot camp when you wake up you have 15minutes to get ready.
JustYoon in bootcamp, are you allowed to wake up early and shower and get ur bed ready before rdc come in?
Dan Sal hell no, you get up when they say, get dressed when they say, speak when they say etc. They own you. You are now property of the government.
how is everything placed for inspection then?
Only in bootcamp there was a particular diagram where everything was supposed to be. Can't remember that now, but after bootcamp placement is no longer relevant
I misread this at first and thought you were teaching how to fold in the store Old Navy lmao
😂😂
We didn’t have smiling socks. 😊
Are you a civilian now? I forgot a lot of how to fold. Drop a video about the seabags.
This just for bootcamp, right? Obviously it'd be great if you retained all the skills from bootcamp but I'm assuming you can fold however after RTC
The sock fold leaves me a little pocket where I can tuck in my compartmentalized face mask! (The fold of which, I'm pretty sure I invented.)
I want to US Marine Corp T Shirt Sir..
Can you do one of the navy parka?
+xSAVIORx Yes, I Will keep that in mind. Thank you
+Yoon Ho Kim keep me updated if you do please. I can't remember at all.
Can you choose to wear different underwear in boot camp?
No, you are only give white triangular undies
JustYoon what about after in a school?
After Boot camp, you can do whatever you want.
JustYoon cool man! Thanks for getting back to me on such an old video haha. Hopefully I'll be enlisting by the end of the year.
I had my brother tell me that this would help get more stuff when packing for camp retreat. I’m thinking about joining the Navy. Do they make you wear tighty whities or can I bring/wear boxer briefs?
the more I learn about the navy the I'm glad I joined the army
Tell me the Army doesn't have silly clothes folding shit, and I'll call you a bullshit artist.
Hahaha... US NAVY is the best bro.
WootTootZoot rolling clothes to stuff in duffle bags in a hurry basically
How would you organize it in the bunk rack?
Does the military let you bring sweat pants.
no, you get issued Navy sweats
Nobody does normal trousers
Thank you very very much.
Can you please remake this video? I can't see a thing in here, and it's making my eyes hurt because of it.
what's the difference in the Navy close and army close
+jakEjedi Mother I am not sure with the specific fabric differences, if there is any. I would mainly say the difference is the design just for pure looks.
jakEjedi Mother Navy has alot more types of uniforms than the other branches.
Welcome to 75 percent of navy boot camp.
You have 15 minutes to fold and stow your clothes in accordance to your RDC's instructions. One second has elapsed.
Well this is great, but what about the seabee that have 782 gear to bag up also ?
*shrugs*
@@MrYoonKim So you know nothing about the Seabee do you.
Nope
@@chuckjohnson2564 construction battlion
Do they provide you with running shoes at basic?
yes
New Balance when I enlisted in June 2000.
Im only 10 and I am thinking about doing British navy boot camp lol
There's no problem having aspirations for the future right?
+DodgeTheDog no problem at all!
+Yoon Ho Kim OMG u replied thx
+Yoon Ho Kim and u r an awesome naval officer
even now is this the same?
Angela Kalin yes I was in boot camp in December
Yes
This aint the way I learned it in boot. Blouses and pants were first turned inside out before being folded and rolled into cylinders and secured with clothes stops.
interesting
Right...
did you film this on a go pro?
I filmed on a iPhone 5c

Our company did so many pushups because SR Patton couldn't fold his clothes.
Well thank the lord for the Army!
What about the hat
Jarnice Morris you don't fold them you push the back in and put them together. 8 point to 8 point to navy ball cap. 88 recruits joined the navy is how I remembered that

Good video. Just too long and camera too close.
Cut the time and taking down and pull the camera 🎥 back so we can see the entire garment without moving it while you’re folding.
Thanks.
Do it while a pissed off red roped chief is yelling at you ass and you can't understand him because of the broken English good times. Still fold all my civilian shit this way my wife dosent get it
Extreamly bad framing made this useless for me.
That was painful.
DAMN He's SLOW
