For you to understand a bit better: Smash is about aerial movement and spacing a lot using your movement to either get in or keep the other one out, usually characters with swords or superior range are pretty strong (there’s exceptions obviously like donkey kong) the game also favors characters with good advantage states, advantage state is when you knock your opponent off of the stage and either edguard them or ledge trap them, a ledgetrap is when you knock someone off stage and you stage on stage to call or bait out one of the four options they came when grabbing the ledge wich would be normal get up ( your character just stands up on to the stage) a jump getup a roll getup (your character rolls on to the stage ending up kinda close to the center of it, the bad thing about rolling is that it’s easy to react to it even if you’re trying to cover other options) then there’s also a getup attack wich leaves you in the same position as a normal getup but your character does an attack that knocks the opponent away to center stage if it hits but it’s really laggy, so that’s ledgetrapping and edgeguarding, wich consist of advantage state again that’s when your opponent is in disadvantage state (off the stage and is trying to get back using their jump and up special and sometimes side special aswell), the reason as to why kazuya is indeed a high/top tier character is because he is slow in the air his recovery isn’t that good and has no range but he can kill you off of 5 different moves at 0% has combos/kill confirms at any % (usually ppl dude around 110 to 130% for reference) kazuya usually kills at around 60 to 80% if he didn’t combo you to death already but to do all the combos you need to have a massive understanding of the character and have to be able to do the input moves perfectly, also the reason as to why lives or stocks pretty much disappeared in games 1 and 2 is because Roy and kazuya are characters that get in and blow you up but games 3 and 4 is because cloud the character kola played in this games Is pretty much the definition of spacing so he doesn’t play as fast

In smash, life states are called stocks nd depending on the mu, stocks can go in the blink of an eye or can go on for longer. There are 2 types of trapping: • There is edge guarding, which consists of trying to secure a stock while the opponent is off the platform. • There also is ledge trapping, consists of pressuring your opponent to stay in the corner/ledge so that you can move onto ledge trapping. Kazuya is high risk, high reward due to that he is not the best in mobility and constantly relies on wave dash canceling and wavedashing to move around. Kazuya is also the most technical character in smash, having the most moves and his best move [Electric] having a tight frame window of 2 frames to perform.
It’s so cool to see a Tekken player learning (or at least watching) their character in smash. I’d love it if more fighting game characters got added to smash and the players from those games came and fought it out in smash.
Should check out some of Riddles normal online play, man brutalizes other players with Kaz, Terry, Ken, and Ryu. His Kaz combos get terrifying though, completely locks people down
Stage counter pick should be implemented to the Tekken tournament rule set tbh especially today with the amount of floor breaks that lead into combos. Take note Tekken community this is something you can learn from the Smash community, the only thing lol.
Love this, as a smash player turned Tekken player, this is one of my favorite videos, Smash Kazuya is weird compared to tekken kazuya, but its fun to see the difference between them, cool to see that you recognize the moves, cool thing is that some moves that kazuya has in smash wasnt even shown, which also comes from tekken, for example the quarter circle forward b input which is kazuya's 2 hit down forward 2 (I think, dont play kazuya that much in tekken) and other moves that he has that are also straight from tekken
Kazuya is one of the most difficult characters in the game to play well. Riddles makes him look easy. Kazuya has very low air mobility, his jump is slow, has some high commitment moves so is very punishable with alot of moves. But he is quite unique in the fact that if your execution is on point, he can be touch of death. Where basically if he gets his hands on u, he can straight up end your stock (one of your lives in smash bros). Riddles in particular is known for being amazing with these fighting game characters in the smash community.
Not to be a technicality Nazi, but Riddles is actually a dual main, both Kazuya Mishima and Terry Bogard. Kazuya is his pick for Kola because Kola has never lost to Riddles when Riddles used only Terry in their sets. Riddles has been dominating tournaments recently, I just hope he gets his first major win soon. 4th at Collision, 4th at Pound 2022, 4th at Battle of BC 4, 3rd at the Gimvitational (an invitational organized by content creator GimR), 2nd at CEO, and 3rd at Get On My Level 2022 as of the exact day I'm writing this comment
I hope you reconsider trying smash out. you can use your mixbox on the console. I personally use it and make sure the jump is only inputted with x or y rather than the up dpad.
another thing to note; kazuya is one of, if not the slowest character in smash, and also has very short range. kazuya tends to struggle against sword characters that have huge disjoints, since the sword characters can sort of just throw out hitboxes without much risk of kazuya being able to get in. kazuya is extremely dangerous once he gets in, but characters with faster movement speed and disjointed hitboxes are usually able to stuff out kazuya's approaches. Along with the execution required to play kazuya, i think this makes kazuya the most difficult character to play well in smash, and makes riddles' performance against these faster sword characters even more impressive. It's nice to see THE kazuya figurehead giving some support to the smash scene, I love both tekken and smash bros, so this was super fun to watch!
@@juniperrodley9843 I’d argue that combined with kazuya’s below average run speed, his lack of panic options, and being the only character in the game with a 7 frame jumpsquat, kazuya is the slowest character in the game. Technically incineroar has a slower run speed, but I’d still say incineroar has better air mobility
Kaz also gets rage state when he is at 100%, giving him 10% more damage and giving him the Rage Drive, that's what killed Cloud at the end of that sick combo
6:12 Crouch dashing is very strict on timing, where it’s basically frame perfect. For electrics, down-forward has a 2 frame window instead of 1 frame. Ironically, Riddles has said that forward forward A is harder than electric, mainly because sometimes the game mistakes the input for a tilt or smash attack.
They're similar but kazuya doesn't have the block punishment or the mix ups like has has in Tekken. Ssbu is a fast game so it's hard to play footsies with kaz
I guess it's *out of shield* in smash, tho not great, his electric is a good out of shield move tho. Mix ups are still there even for Kazu, just not the high, mid, low. Mix up for tekken is usually wavu to electric/hellsweep and ws +1, 2 or ws+2 but smash could be wavu to electric or backdash or wavu to dodge or spotdodge I do like f, f+3 is reflect in smash, i hope if there are projectiles character in Tekken 8, they'd incorporate f, f +3 to reflect. Altho OP, db+4 to electric would be amazing to see in Tekken
Glad to see him coming around on how much execution is required for Smash. Especially Melee is *ridiculous* in that regard. Lots of folks in the fgc don't get it sadly. Wish there was more respect put on each others games. From Tekken over SF and Guilty Gear to Smash.
TTM realization to riddles Masku* is amazing. Stuff like is what I love see, other fighting game pros reacting to ssbu players and reacting to how they master their character (like kazuya/riddles) is so perfect. Although there is beef with kazuya in the smash community being busted
You should watch the reveal trailer when they first announced kazuya for smash and then the one where Sakurai goes into detail and lists all the moves they brought over

@@playstationarusu say that till u fight an armor king on a floor break stage
Love this, as a smash player turned Tekken player, this is one of my favorite videos, Smash Kazuya is weird compared to tekken kazuya, but its fun to see the difference between them, cool to see that you recognize the moves, cool thing is that some moves that kazuya has in smash wasnt even shown, which also comes from tekken, for example the quarter circle forward b input which is kazuya's 2 hit down forward 2 (I think, dont play kazuya that much in tekken) and other moves that he has that are also straight from tekken
Imagine Smash Bro's Kazuya as a Tekken boss, lazer or normal form, launching Stonehenge, 112 into lazer combo, double jumps 2 frame jabs.
Then cloud gets down to his knees “kazuya you are the gigachad, don’t kill me” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Riddles also play a lil bit of Tekken tho, so he knows his stuff
It's really nice to see you regaining interest in smash-tekken :)
TMMs reaction to the Masku name was priceless lmao
2:49 JAYSUS DOOD! The way you Busted out the laugh caught me off guard
Riddles is a TMM fan for sure,MASKU
As a samsh bros competitive player it can be very fun to watch these matches!
The big explosion on the heaven’s gate is because it’s rage art
The moment he finally sees the name tag is so hilarious
The kazuya vs cloud matchup looks so dope with Kazuya's red rage contrasting cloud's blue limit break
Well he's not *the* slowest, I think that's Ganondorf.
@@bucketbuckets8379 Yeah that's a fair assessment
Kaz is heavy and light at the same time. I dropped kirby and never looked back.
Least expected, but amazing video. Riddles is easily one of my favourite fighting game players. Loved the video dude!
When riddles started rocking masku I prayed you would watch. Bless you.
As a long time smash player and kazuya main, this warms my heart
Kaz also gets rage state when he is at 100%, giving him 10% more damage and giving him the Rage Drive, that's what killed Cloud at the end of that sick combo
2:47 M A S K U moment.
first: what an amazing fight💯, second: the last voice chat🤣
Love this. Watching Riddles' Kazuya is so hype!
Hopefully, more reaction videos of this from TMM. Refreshing to see reacting video like this from a Tekken Pro :))
Cool to see you react to some smash stuff lol
I am so happy that Kazuya has now been recognised in Smash by even TMM
6:12 Crouch dashing is very strict on timing, where it’s basically frame perfect. For electrics, down-forward has a 2 frame window instead of 1 frame. Ironically, Riddles has said that forward forward A is harder than electric, mainly because sometimes the game mistakes the input for a tilt or smash attack.
This was great, finally has a open mind to smash, any have the twitch vod link?
OH WOW. Didn't know that happen at momocon
Mix up for tekken is usually wavu to electric/hellsweep and ws +1, 2 or ws+2 but smash could be wavu to electric or backdash or wavu to dodge or spotdodge
I do like f, f+3 is reflect in smash, i hope if there are projectiles character in Tekken 8, they'd incorporate f, f +3 to reflect.
I never heard of you until this video and this is very cool seeing a tekken player watch smash
Ive been wating for this for sooo long
TTM realization to riddles Masku* is amazing. Stuff like is what I love see, other fighting game pros reacting to ssbu players and reacting to how they master their character (like kazuya/riddles) is so perfect.
Although there is beef with kazuya in the smash community being busted
that guy is insane with kazuya in smash, kinda glad TMM reacted to it
I literally bought tekken this week whilst it’s on sale, he’s my main in smash so this video was really fun to see!
Two of my favorite Kaz players. So sick
You should watch the reveal trailer when they first announced kazuya for smash and then the one where Sakurai goes into detail and lists all the moves they brought over
I really knew that you will enjoy it :) Try it yourself in the future!
The pewgf is only 2 frames in this, so only an extra frame of lenienct
"Corner defense" lol I'm calling it that now.
Is Masku something riddles tagged himself as as a shoutout to TMM?
That is Riddles’ most commonly used tag. I’m not sure if he always uses it but every time I see him play that is always his tag.
@@Sergio-wc1wn ah. What does it mean?

I really appreciate that TMM is more open to other games' gameplay, when kazuya came out in smash he acted a bit like an asshole (at least to someone who isn't familiar with his humour) but he's cool now
