    Robyn is exclusive, the best & honest person in the whole world. I am so sorry I didn't come across her amazing book earlier.

    It's amazing how long it took to make a film out of this story, but it's even more amazing how beautiful and moving it turned out to be. Maybe they had to wait for Mia to be born and grow up, because I can't imagine anyone else who could have brought the depth and mystery that she did to her performance. The film is raw but also poetic - it's terrific.

    "SPOILER ALERT"! Please do not read any further if you have not seen this movie yet! I just watched this movie last night. I never knew it existed until I found it on NETFLIX and thought it looked interesting. WOW! What a treat! I was, and still am, blown away. I had never heard of Robyn Davidson, never knew her story. Hell, I never knew there were camels in Australia! As the movie played out, I realized that this was not a fiction piece imagined from the mind of some brilliant writers, this was an actual true story!!! So well written, the cinematography was so beautiful (I could have watched the entire movie on mute and loved it), and the acting (even by the supporting cast) was so good as to make you feel like a peeping tom, rather than a very lucky audience member. I was moved to tears at the end. For some reason, those photos of Robyn's actual adventures at the end of the movie- well, they really got to me. They somehow pushed home the reality that this was her true adventure, and she did it, she really made it happen. I am ordering the book today, and I can not wait to get lost in it's pages.

      Me too. I just (finally!) saw the movie three days ago and I LOVED IT. I completely agree with you about the supporting cast (the helpful, longtime Afghan cameleer man, Mr Eddy, the Aboriginal guide, and the elderly couple in the outback were all so endearing), and the profound rawness of seeing the real-life photos of Robyn Davidson on her original trip at the end of the film. Absolutely. Everyone should see this great movie. :-)

      Same, I cheered with my hands up when I saw the ocean ;-; I didn't cry until her real photos of the journey that were shown at the credits, honestly it moved me to tears and it was such a funny feeling.

    Moving, truly inspirational film, breathtaking the Australian outback the beauty which the aboriginal people have always known and guarded and somehow Robyn embraced it and lived it.

      Please I haven’t found the movie to see all of it but I saw a clip and please tell me why did the camel be shot?
      And did her beautiful dog survive?

    • @user-hi5dz4ku6d
      @user-hi5dz4ku6d 2 роки тому +1

      @@marieh7861 She had to shoot a wild camel because they are extremely aggressive during the rut. It was probably possible to shoot at the feet without killing. But the camel could attack. Unfortunately, the dog did not survive. For some reason there was a place in the desert with the poisonous substance strychnine. The dog was poisoned by it. And the heroine had to shoot her so that she would not suffer. An extremely tragic moment.

    never even heard of this person until last week when i saw the movie featured on netflix - that's 10 years after it was made, and 36 years after she did the journey! got my attention immediately as this is my kind of thing in this life. very nice and interesting lady. the actress was clearly perfect for the role.
    funny how our lives are so separate and buried in the things we think we have to do, so much so that that we can be unaware of something or someone for decades, and then when it lands in your lap you wonder how the hell you did not see this before. and then you feel a deep connection to their experience. very odd.

    I just watched "Tracks" for the first time. I got so into it, that I had to deal out the actual true story. I'm so glad that she said it stays quite true to the book that she wrote about her journey.

    one other point. i do not see this woman as a feminist icon at all. for me she was a self determined individual who wanted to find out more about herself and the world. her decisions seem to be a reaction to her time, her nature and her familial experience. hers seems to have been an expression of personal power and equality. this modern feminist movement seems to be more about man hating, lesbianism, and subverting the traditional family. the film and the character did not suggest that to me at all! just my view

    I wonder how much the animals enjoyed, this journey across the desert, for the sake of one woman's glory. Dogs deterate very quickly in the heat. And Diggty paid with her life. Another entitled Karen, bigged up
