I never did beat this on the OG ps2 version, so glad I had this, was able to win with all my Char in the low-mid 70s. Can't even begin to describe the satisfaction of overcoming this childhood challenge!!!
P.S., you can berserk both of your non-healers all the time w/ gambit: Self -> bachuss wine, sub out your healer when inflicted w/ stop, and bring in a backup to chronos tear your inactive white mage
I almost beat it on the ps2 twice. The first time my power went out, the 2nd time one of my characters had reflect and I used renew... I just turned it off
It's awesome how the damage limit isn't 9999 and you can speed up gameplay 4x. This turns this fight from about a 2 hour fight to less than 10 minutes (compared to the original)
I can guarantee that it takes longer than 2 hours to fight this incredibly badly designed boss, even on 4x speed. The whither technique seems to be the only way to speed it up to bearable lengths of time.
I replicated this strategy as best I could, and though my damage was much lower, I was able to win in 25 minutes with a level 71 team. Wither and 4x speed trivialize this boss, but I'm fine with that because I am trying to complete Final Fantasy XII soon and had planned on skipping Yiazmat. Thanks for sharing this strategy.
if its any use to anyone out there trying to beat yiazmat for "the sake of the trophy" you can skip battling him on the story mode of the game and instead killing him in trial mode and you will still get the trophy.
I remember when I was younger playing this on ps2 following the stairs technique to only affect one in front when Yiazmat uses the wind like attack. Then using dark element katana/Ninja blade on Penelo and so can do multiple 9999 attack at one action but still took time to defeat but yeah achieved 😸⭐
On ps2 I won him without using expose, wither, decoy, reverse, yaghu darkblade. I just defeated him in about 3 weeks by entering that location, taking about 2-3 mil hp and leaving. It took me about 20-30 enters. I don't really remember. That was in 2012 or something
@@Karifean actually I just didn'thad internet back then,so I didn't knew there was abilitys like that, superweapons,I had no idea how could you get superweapons from the bazaar and how bazaar worked, how most of the teqniks work cus my english was horrible and its still horrible as you see
@@ALLperfect21Your english might be bad, but your delivery on stating it out is very on point. It made me laughed hard. Regarding your way in killing yiazmat, i have nothing but awe at it, good job.
Most marks used to be immune to wither, expose, shear and addle as far as I remember. Using wither and expose makes this fight a breeze. Also, they removed the 9999 damage limit, and now, as you can see, they can hit far beyond the limit. Same goes for Omega, as long as you can get in those first withers without dying.
Imagine fighting 3 Yiazmat in one arena. That must be very challenging. Or fighting 13 espers at once. Unfortunately Trial Mode doesn't make that possible. Only 5 Judges are challenging enough. Although you can win easily with the Big Bang Trick Zeromus low HP.
Naufal Harits Pratama I wanna say "look up the fastest strategy" but that's why I did... I beat Yiamat on PS2 and I can't honestly say it was worth the effort :P
Would you guys say this is the best team to use? I’m currently on my first ever play through n I was curious on what team to use??? Any tips would be appreciated.
Vaan and Ashe are the best character in the game due too have the highest stat overall and can take any job, the male character are good as healer or Caster or tank so if you try to use something like knight white mage or white mage Hunter can be good or monk and spear for the utility while the female are best strike in the game especially Penelope with samurai + Hunter combo and never ever take Gunner/gree magic as job because that job is the worst job in the game
I like to double up on Time Battlemage because of how useful Haste and Float are. Sometimes I double up on White Mage also. Other than that I keep my teams very diverse. I like to have two teams that can both heal, nuke, break, and deal physical damage.
Yeah I beat him without using any techniques around level 70's. Bubble, decoy, and reverse is how I got through it. But man I had several moments when he was at critical health, I almost died. Even had 1 party member left alive but somehow managed. In that moment I took a good 2 minutes to think of a strategy 🤣 love this game so much. 2 hrs and 30 minutes is how long it took for me with occasionally using 4x speed when things looked safe
I remember reading the original game guide for it, warning players of the difficulty of the boss fight and that it takes roughly 12 hours. I still have the memory card save of over 200 hours in level 70's, never beating or at least attempting to fight yiazmat. The Zodiac version finally gives me perspective that I was right to fear that boss fight especially having damage cap, no speed up mode, and pretty much the hardest boss in the game with insane amount of health that without a doubt it would take 12 hours. What discouraged me the most is keeping my PS2 on that long and feared that I'd accidentally unplug the game or a power outage would happen.
I do think Zodiac Age version of FFXII is better. But Fighting Yiazmat for like 10 hours straight was the best in the original version. He really felt like a like a secret boss most people can't beat. which made beating him feel so great.
I remember using berserk a lot back on PS2. This was a painful bossfight in my entire gaming life. I might play this game back on PS4 cozI failed to beat the game but prolly not gonna fight back this optional boss.
This is far from optimized. Genji gloves should be on balthier with the dark blade. And an easier way to get people to critical hp is to reverse slicer them. And shellga makes yiazmats deathstrike 50/50 chance of hitting. It would also be better to decoy bubble basch to tank his hits so yiazamat doesn't randomly kill your healer. You could have shaved so much time off of this by optimizing it more.
Genji Gloves on Ninja Blades aren't optimal, since the realease of the game ton of player have proven on Gamefaqs that for Ninja Blades Germina Boots are better because of the huge boost in speed which is a stat that is incorporate Ninja Blade's Damage Formula.
I don't see this as cheap. I mean if this were a shin megami tensei game would be debuffing/buffing before you ever started attacking....else you would be in for a bad time.
TBH this was a New Game Plus mode and I used Monks for Brawler to get through the main game quickly. This save file was basically entirely dedicated to the Judges Solo Battle that's also on my channel.
I beat this on the original version. I had to leave my game running for hours while I went to school to come back and resume. This makes me angry they made it this simple.
I was kinda shocked when i saw that they removed the 6999 damage cap at the end of the fight - this made the fight even more a challenge. But anyway, I'm playing zodiac age the moment by myself and i must admit i only see it as a nice and more relaxed way to replay the game. Its much faster due to the turbo mode and is a very comfortable way just to give it a 2nd or 3rd go. First playthrough should be the original version imho - must fun for the first time. Okay, despite the Zodiac Spear thing... ;)
I've got some bad news for you: Even on the original, you could just go to the save crystal, heal up completely, and yiazmat would still be at the same health you left him at. However, once you enter the arena, he will heal a tiny bit. Don't stay in the arena NOT fighting him for too long, however, as I've just discovered that he will heal COMPLETELY if you take too long to, say, buff your team. Yep, you could have beaten Yiazmat in your childhood without leaving the console running. In fact, I just left ridorana completely at one point to do some other stuff in the world and after a day or two of leveling up and beating Zodiac, I returned to see Yiazmat was still at the point of health I left him with.
mine is 9hrs.. i dont know how he manage to deal a damage of more than 10k because there is no break damage limit in ps2 version even i posessed all ultimate weapons
Never occurred to me to debuff its defence, but then I'm still thinking of vanilla FF12 where the damage limit makes it pointless.
Genius setup on Gambits and equipment. Also, that fight played out more seamlessly than usual. Great job!

took me 9 hour-ish in vanila

He's vulnerable to Wither this time, which allows cutting his Strength down until he barely does any damage anymore.

50 life bars, actually. Each little dot under the main HP bar is another life bar...
