Yep, your grinder will get lonely when you have the cut off tool. Very handy for small jobs and tight spaces. Wood cutting blades are also available. Concur w/ your idea about getting the higher capacity batteries. If you’re just starting your collection of M12 batteries, or are budget conscious, wait for Home Depot or Ace to have a sale on 2-packs. Seems like they’re on sale every few months.
I have this tool and can't complain it works. I can cut thin metal, plastics, and drywall. My guess for these others wanting DeWalt 20v must be cutting thick items. In that case l use my grinder.
I bought one when it came out and the idea of the tool is GREAT. I had nothing but poor performance from the unit with it bogging down too easily. It just does not have the umph needed to do the projects it is intended for. That is why when Dewalt came out with one I bought it immediately. Granted that the Dewalt is 20v and not 12v like the Milwaukee... The Dewalt absolutely SMOKES the Milwaukee with torque and performance. Hands down go for the Dewalt tool. I never go on a job site without it in my tool box.
Wonder if maybe the battery you were using was the issue? I've got the DeWalt leaf blower and it was horrible until I used 5aH batteries with it. I've got a couple of 12v Milwaukee tools, but sticking with DeWalt on the 20v platform.

I use the 6AH M12 batteries with this tool, I run the 5AH High Output for things like the 5 3/8" circular saw, or other current hungry tools.

@@PageMarker1 it boggs down once its its 2 bars/half battery, a ryobi/dewalt version doesn't have that problem since 18/20v.
Doesn't cut very deep, dewalt cuts deeper......
terrible tool. Save your money, and buy another brand that is 18v. I wish i could return it for a refund
Can you recommend one? I couldn't find anything like this and I like mine a lot. I use mine for lighter non contractor work lol.
U may be not using it for it was made, if u nedd more power of course is not the tool 💸💸
